"So, what do we have next?", the young doctor asked as she handed the chart to the desk clerk. "There’s two brothers in exam one. One head laceration and one facial laceration.", the clerk stated with a smile as she handed her two charts. "Randi," the doctor said looking up from the charts, "remind me again why I always volunteer to work when there’s a wrestling show in town." The clerk smiled and answered, "That’s because everyone else wanted to go to the show." "Oh yeah. Thanks. I have to quit being so nice.", she replied as she walked off towards the exam room. The two brothers glanced at each other and smiled as the beautiful doctor entered the room. "Who’s first?", she asked looking towards the older of the two brothers who had taken a seat on the exam table. "Me, I guess.", the dark haired young man answered not taking his eyes off of her. She was a beautiful young lady in her late twenties. Her long, wavy black hair was pulled back into a tight bun. A few strands of hair cascaded down each side of her thin face. Her bright green eyes only accented the naturally dark color of her skin. "Now, which one are you?", she asked ignoring the gaze his eyes had fixed on her. "I’m Matt.", he stated very proudly as if he thought she should have already known. "It’s nice to meet you. I’m Dr. Black.", she said examining his head. "Looks like you’re gonna need a few stitches.", she stated as she checked him for a concussion. Matt tried not to cringe as the doctor sewed up his wound. He didn’t want her to think he was weak. "So, Doc, what time do you get off?", Matt asked with a sly grin. "When my shift is over.", she answered, trying to blow him off. Although she didn’t find herself as attractive as everyone else did, she had become accustom to guys hitting on her. She knew how to knock them down quickly. "Well, what time is that?", he asked continuing to pursue his quest. "Does he ever give up?", she asked the younger brother, who was sitting quietly in the chair with his head leaned against the wall. He simply answered as, "Nope." "Well?", Matt continued. "Well, Matt, I think it’s time you gave up.", she answered as she tied off the last stitch. The younger one never opened his eyes as he laughed at his brother’s rejection. "Sorry.", she said. "Hey, no problem.", Matt replied, "If you’re done with me, I’m gonna go grab some coffee while you work on him." "All done.", she stated. He walked to the door, then turned to her and said, "Thanks, Doc." "Hey, no problem.", she returned with a smile. ‘He was cute…but too cocky.’, she thought to herself as she picked up the other chart. "So that must make you Jeff.", she said looking at the young man. "Yep.", he said as he took a seat on the exam table. Jeff seemed to be completely opposite of his appearance. At first glance, you would think he would be a very outspoken, very animated person. He had long hair that was dyed purple and blue. He was wearing a tight black T-shirt, leopard print pants and stack heeled boots. She would soon learn that he was proof that you can’t judge someone based on their looks. He had a deep cut above his right eye, just above his eyebrow. "You’re gonna need a few stitches too.", she said as she examined his wound. He acknowledged with a slight grin and a barely audible "k". She checked him for a concussion then began to stitch up the cut. "Did you two do this to each other?", she asked. "No. We were in a wrestling match tonight.", he informed her. That seemed to explain his appearance to her. They both remained silent as she finished the procedure. "You’re all done.", she said as she turned to walk to the door. He grabbed her arm, "I’m sorry if my brother made you uncomfortable." "That’s okay.", she said as she turned and found herself staring into his eyes. His greenish eyes seemed to cast a spell upon her. They stood there silent for a moment trying with all of their might to pull themselves away from each others gaze. She was finally able to pull herself away as she heard her pager go off. She glanced at her pager. "I have to go.", she said nervously, "I’ve got a trauma coming in. You take care of that wound. And try to take care of yourself." "I will. Thank you Dr. Black.", he said smiling at her. "My name’s Sky.", she said smiling as she hurried through the door. |
