Winners Announced on March 2, 2006.
1. The Manila Prize 2005 for Poetry is given to the first poetrybook poet who excels in poetry. The poet must have published his first full-length poetry book within 5 years 2001-2005.
2. Submit your first full-length poetrybooks for evaluation to the postmail address of Manila Review.
3. Submit a reading fee/entry fee of 15$ for every full-length poetry book to be considered for the prize. Entry fee includes 1 year subscription of print edition of Manila Review.
4. Poetrybooks must be published WITHIN 5 years of the prize.
Example:
Manila Prize 2006 for Poetry will consider poetrybooks published from 2001 to 2005.
5. The reading fee is good for five years.
6. Full length poetry books must be at least 70 pages.
7. Poets with or without background in Creative Writing may join or apply for the award..
8. Chapbooks are not allowed.
9. Poetry Anthologies or poetrybooks with different authors cannot be considered.
10. The language of the poetrybooks is either in English or Filipino.
11. Decision of the panel or judge is final.
12. Rules can be expanded to enhance the selection process..
Answer:
The Manila Prize is for first-book poets within a 5 year time frame. The Manila Prize is for English language or Filipino language.
The Angus Prize is for poets who published at least 1 full -length poetry book or poets who make significant contributions to poetry within 10 years time frame.. The Angus Prize is for any language.
