Manitou Equine Rescue and PMU Foal Placement ~~ Adoption Agreement ~~ *NOTE* MER = Manitou Equine Rescue |
||||||
The goal at Manitou Equine Rescue and PMU Foal Placement is to rehabilitate and adopt out our rescues to loving homes. Because the equines are our first and foremost concern there is an adoption screening process. Prospective adopters will have to agree to and abide by the following: 1. The adopter will come to the site where the equine is kept to work with it and get to know it so a good match is assured. The length of time that this will take will be determined by Nancy Ruby and Rita Hoag - Owners/Operators of Manitou Equine Rescue and PMU Foal Placement. 2. MER will maintain a co-ownership on the adopted equine. The adopter will have custodial co-ownership. This is to ensure that the adopted equine will never be sold or desposed of without MER's knowledge and approval. 3.MER will retain rights over any and all adopted equines. The adopter will make the adopted equines available for inspection at anytime by MER. 4. If MER witnesses or suspects the adopted equine is being endangered, abused or neglected in any form MER reserves the right to remove the adopted equine at MER's Descresion. 5. The adopter agrees that he/she will provide safe and sanitary housing for the adopted equine. Furthermore, the adopter agrees to provide adequate food, water, mineral block, grooming, yearly vaccinations, deworming and farrier service on a 6 to 8 week schedule, proper shelter and adequate exercise area for the adopted equine. The adopter understand that he/she is responsible for the health and well being of the adopted equine to see that any medical needs are addressed immediatly by and equine vet... to include emergencies. 6. If, in the event, that MER must step in and take possession of an adopted equine due to lack of vet care on the part of the adopter. The adopter understands that MER will hold the adopter responsible for any and all vet bill incurred. 7. The adopter agrees to provide pictures every 6 months of the adopted equine to MER. 8. The adopter agrees that the adopted equine will NOT be used for breeding purposes WITHOUT the WRITTEN consent of MER. If the adopted equine is used for breeding purposes WITHOUT written consent of MER the equine will IMMEDIATLY be taken into possesion by MER as will any resulting foals from the breeding(s). THIS IS A STRICT POLICY !!!!!!! 9. If, at ANYTIME during the course of the adopted equines lifetime it should die while in the possession of the adopter, the adopter will provide a statement from an equine vet stating the cause of death and the date of death. 10. While we at MER make every attempt to evaluate each horse as best as we can we cannot make any guarantees at to the suitability of any equine for any purpose. It is our recommendation that the adopter have the equine evaluatedby an equine vet prior to adoption. If the adopter is adopting for a particular event or type of training we suggest having your trainer/instructor evaluate the equine as well. 11:The Adopter agrees that if there is a change of address or phone number of where the adopted equine is kept he/she will IMMEDIATLY notify MER of the change. Though the screening process and adoption requirements may seem strict, please keep in mind that many of our rescues at MER have been rescued from less than good situations and we are making every attempt to improve their lives.
