Trier, the oldest City in Germany
Sometime in August we travelled west to Trier. Located very near the French border, this city was once the home of Roman Kings and a very large wine industry.
Thousands of years ago Roman gladiators particpated in many death matches in this arena. Oh yeah, you are as studly as the statue at the Stadt (City) Museum.
This is the most beautiful Cathedral we have visited yet. The cieling was dark blue with white accents! Gorgeous!! The gate on the east side of the city. Built in the early hundreds by the Romans. The gate is named Porta Niagra.
This was at one time the Royal Bath house. Now, ruins! But that's what several centuries and a war will do to a building. From the top of the Porta Niagra you can see for quite a ways!
The town square.
