Straight Through The Heart
Part 11
By Sandy
Cupid pressed his cute little button nose up against
the window pane and gazed inside. Boy! Didn't those two
ever get enough of each other?! (sorry, bitterness of
author seeping through) Danny and Michelle were sitting
entwined on the couch, cooing and gazing lovingly into
each others eyes. The opulant surroundings of the Santos
family compound on San Cristobal were virtually ignored
by the two lovebirds who made a beeline for the first
cushy place to recline, barely breaking lip-contact since
exiting the taxi. Cupid smiled sadly and wondered again
if he would ever feel the magic of this mortal love or if
he was destined to forever experience only the hum-drum
ecstacy of God-like pleasures. Suddenly, his pensive mood
was interrupted by a terrible rucus brewing just outside
the door...OH NO...the "Uninvited" had arrived.
The Santos women, Carmen and Pilar, along with Ben, Dietz
and various hangers-on were noisily making their way to
the front door of the Villa. Carmen, clinging tenaciously
to the lapels of Ben's expensive suit, tore her gaze away
from the smarmy lawyer only for the brief moments it took
to bark orders at Dietz.
"Dietz....get the luggage and don't forget to tip
the driver...Dietz!! watch it with my bag...you'll jar
the secret smuggling compartment..Dietz!...DIETZ..where
is that Man??..Ben, darling, you shouldn't have to carry
that heavy briefcase..leave it for
Dietz..DIETZZZZZ!!!!"
Dietz, struggling under a mountain of luggage, was trying
to get Pilar's attention to see if she would lend him a
hand but, she was too distracted, gazing at her herself
in the mirror of her compact and mentally planning her
wardrobe for this evening. In the glare of the San
Cristobal sun, would she look better in the mini-mini red
dress with the slit up the side or should she go a little
more conservative in the white dress with see-thru
panels? Hmmm...decisions, decisions. But, then Pilar gave
an un-ladylike snort and tossed her hair,
"Not that anyone would notice what she was
wearing...Really..Mommy was all over that Ben
W-A-R-R-E-N, Danny and Michelle only noticed each other,
and Bill and David were not even here to vie for her
attention. Not that she really wanted either one of
them...I mean David could never afford to keep her in the
style to which she was accustomed, how much did a
disgraced cop make? and lately Bill was proving to be
very difficult with his non-stop talk of computer
programs and unless she was packing illegal bonds in her
knapsack, she did not see the need for those little
visits to his bedroom. How vexing!"
Cupid watched enthralled from his hiding place as the
lovely Pilar scrunched up her nose, deep in thought. He
just KNEW she was thinking of something deep and
profound. One so lovely must also be blessed with great
intelligence and sensitivity. He must have her for his
own true love. He lovingly carressed his last arrow and
contemplated just letting it fly here and now. But, alas,
he had promised the mortal, Dietz, a chance with the
raven-haired witch of his dreams and Cupid was a cherub
of his word. It would take great skill to line up both
Santos women and strike them with this his last potent
arrow but he was confident that he would succeed. Tonight
he would know the pleasure of mortal love with the fair
Pilar and no one, not his Mother Aphrodite or any of the
other jealous gods or any flimsy mortal would stand in
his way.
Inside Villa Santos, Michelle wrapped her arms around her
husband and bent to whisper in his ear, "Danny, I
have a PLAN. A really good idea on how to spend our first
night in San Cristobal...."
The door to the villa burst open as the uninvited guests
stumbled into the room and were treated to the sight of
the half-clothed lovers. Danny jumps up, yelling
furiously, "MOTHER! PILAR!...WHAT THE
HELL...!!" , Michelle, scrambling to cover herself
falls off the couch in a mass of tangled clothes, Carmen,
clutching her throat turns to the smirking Ben Warren and
stoic Dietz, while Pilar stares confusedly at the scene
and wonders why....
"Uh Oh", Cupid thought. His one measely arrow
just wasn't going to cut it in this madhouse. It was time
to call for help. It was time to call out the big
guns....It was time to call........................
