Straight Through The Heart
I really don't want to use my arrows on them, but they have left me with no choice. These two are hopeless. Let me see....I think I will take aim at Michelle first. I pull back the string on my bow, and let the arrow fly. Oh no! Get out of the way you dumb girl!
The arrow flies across the room just as Cassie is passing Michelle's table. Dietz sees my mistake, and rushes to catch the arrow. These things can be very dangerous, you know. There is no telling what might happen if one hits the wrong party. It could start World War III.
Dietz lunges for it, but it grazes his fingertips, and ricochets off a water glass. He crashes into Michelle's table, knocking it over. Cassie clutches her chest, as the arrow pierces her heart. Her eyes roll up into her head, and she falls to the floor. Dietz scrambles up, and tugs on the arrow. Luckily, my little arrow is invisible to most people, because I would not want to start a riot.
Oh good! Dietz has the arrow....but wait....what's that? Is that a speck of blood on his ring finger? Uh oh! Now I have really done it. That finger is the most direct route to the heart. Cassie's eyelids flutter open, and Dietz offers her his hand. She gives him a beatific smile. Darn it! I loose more sidekicks to mishaps like this! I should have taken that cushy job pulling the sun behind a chariot.
Wait....there's Danny! He is running over to Michelle's table to see if she was hurt in all the commotion. He scoops her up in his arms, and kisses her forehead. Maybe I didn't make a mistake after all. I can always get another sidekick.
O.K. now to get them alone. I send a message to Danny. He takes Michelle's hand, and leads her out to the balcony. He holds her close, as they sway to some silent tune. Michelle turns her face up to his, and their lips meet. Sigh....this is what makes it all worth while.
I notice Cassie and Dietz standing by the elevator. He has his arm around her waist, and her head is leaning on his shoulder. I suppose he deserves a little reward for all his hard work.
The elevator doors slide open, and Carmen steps out. What is she doing here? I thought I sent her on a wild goose chase! That woman is determined to ruin all my fun. She grabs Dietz by the elbow, and pulls him away from Cassie.
"Stop acting like a fool Dietz," she hisses. "I'm not paying you to have a romantic interlude with some bleached blond tart!"
Dietz gives Cassie a forlorn look, as Carmen pulls him back into the restaurant. "Till we meet again, my love," he calls. He blows her a kiss, and she jumps up, pretending to catch it in her hand.
Carmen gives him a fierce punch in the ribs, and says, "I don't know what's gotten into you lately, Dietz. Have you stopped taking your medication?"
Carmen stops dead in her tracks, when she spots Danny and Michelle through the glass doors. Her face turns red with rage. Maybe she will have a heart attack, and put us all out of our misery. No, I don't think it is going to be that easy. She storms through the balcony doors, dragging a reluctant Dietz behind her.
Oh well....back to the old drawing board. I really need a vacation.
