Since early 80’s, it had been my honor and pleasure as skilled U.S. Citizen crewmember to serve as a U.S. Merchant Mariner via my maritime union, onboard Military Sealift Command Vessels, as well as, other American vessels (tanker and cargo) in support of transporting military cargoes, equipment and supplies needed by military bases worldwide (U.S., NATO and other alliance). Significant  in the time line during the cold war engagement was first, as a crewmember for straight thirteen (13) months onboard the American tanker, S.S. Texas Trader, highlighted with still the other significant Gulf War tactical amphibious invasion formation under war articles, to provide in place an off-shore capability to pump up to the shore, fuel for the mechanized combatants; and thereafter up to the post Gulf War-Diego Garcia U.S. Military Sealift Command Rapid Deployment Formation, still yet for ten (10) months straight specifically onboard the tanker USS American Osprey.

I had suffered several job related injuries throughout this very series of services, culminating to an aggregate but acquired specific degenerative physical condition, where now, I am physically disabled and unable to continue my service and employment.

Existing Public Law 95-202, as it now stands without updating and without amendment, is very specific and is without provision, support, equity and parity for the present day patriots.

My attempt to apply for compensation benefit and recognition as Veteran Of Foreign Wars, was denied on Oct.08, 2002, referring to specific case number: 377/213 CSS578 54 3687.

Records of my complete service as evidence and as mentioned previously were not on file as per time of determination.

The Merchant Marine Seamen who now serve or had served with the Military Sealift Command apparatus or U.S. Coast Guard, have no entitlement to service recognition, compensation or pension under existing Public Law.

In contrast by specific Public Law, the Merchant Marines who specifically served in active oceangoing service during the First World War periods and from December 7, 1941 to August 15, 1945, then under the Naval Transportation Services or Army Transportation Service, do in deed.

It should be now more appropriate and fitting that all those concerned at this juncture be established collectively as an unanimity, meritorious of a collective tasking by sympathizers and advocates, to ultimately recognize their claims, service, unselfishness, contribution to the call to war, sacrifices, interests, equity and presence.

Those of us who have honorably served this country in any of its war efforts post August 15, 1945 as did those current honorees that are now enjoying recognition under the law, should ourselves, have parity in presence as vested foreign war veterans within the U. S. Dept of Veteran Affairs System and like distinction via representation and due process.

I am hoping that an alternative justifiable collective leadership tasking and enthusiasm from all sectors of responsible and legally concerned assets for tasking can be attained and mobilized to effectively see this needed positive end as a national, an administrative and a social update for which its time and presence has now come with this humble letter full circle.

A critical dependence on a diminishing proven source of resource, skill and patriotism sadly is still an alarming need, as well as, national alert as evident historically for all engaged wars and therefore, shall never be under valued.

My Maritime Union had failed our collective request for the equivalent leadership and representation for already an established period of abandonment, shame, abuse and victimization. I am currently reviewing paths to access attention, sympathy, resources, strategic leadership and enthusiasm to link my desire as well as of those significant other fellow patriots’ for adjustment, updates and continued No American Left Behind.

These in many exercises are met with review able challenges calling for refinement and support. These are my views and baby steps with the values I support as they relate to tasking a unified concert and symphony to the fluidity and propinquity of applied self- enhancement.
