The Captain returns. It only made sense to bring the crew of the original Explorer back together again to kick off having the newest-type ship in the fleet, the Sovereign class Explorer-B.  It was a reunion of sorts-- that explains why I titled the first story "Reunion."  I couldn't bring them ALL back, however, that would've been a little too coincidental if Mansel got every single one of his bridge crew back, so I decided to let Lieutenant Commander Lamb go to another ship, and introduce another character to fill his spot-- Lieutenant Matt Ingle, who is quite unlike his predecessor.  I tried to give the Explorer some new adventures, and, of course, bring back some old friends that the UNSF had been feuding with for years.  Without a doubt, this series I've had the most fun writing, and I think it shows.  Serious contrasting with Vol. II's Explorer-A series, this one is much more lighthearted and fun to read. ~Darryl Mansel, co-creator, UNSF
