History
Kat was born in 1969 to Margaret and David Milenza, the third as to what would be six children on the outskirts of Belfast. Growing up Kat became very frustrated through adolescence due to the unfairness in her family. At school she was an average student, gaining GCSE's in all the subjects she studied and A-levels in Sociology, Psychology, English and Biology. Kat suffered through bullying at home, her father who considered her education useless but really the argument was in her leaving home to university rather than staying to help with the family income. A few weeks before her exams, already tormented by not being accepted within her own family as a 'Goth' her elder sister placed narcotics in the room in an attempt to get her thrown out. This succeeded. She moved into the flat in central Belfast, which she still retains these nights, but at the time this was perhaps the turning point in her life. At 20 years old, Katalyna becomes flat mates with Sara Edith Young. This girl became the friend that Kat deserved throughout her younger years, their relationship soon took on a sexual edge, Kat was happy and content and never thought for a second that Sara was any in the least bit abnormal. Through Sara, she met Sara's "master" Mike. Mike the infamous Malkavian who had been Sara's domitor for over 50 years. Mike grew to appreciate Kat for her visionary nature which so mirrored his own. The two of them would sit for hours talking over theories of the universe, Kat's studies and other things that Mike would just come out with, by 1990 Kat finds herself under the thrall of this Kindred. Later in that year Sara's resulting jealousy of Mike's infatuation with Katalyna's mind gets herself killed, in front of Kat at the hands of the Malkavian. Inwardly, Kat feels worse whenever she remembers this traitorous and hurtful experience. Shortly after Sara's death Mike starts to train Katalyna up for the Embrace, thinking that she's too brilliant to be leeching off him for the rest of her existence. Half way through all of this Katalyna gains her degree and becomes a social psychologist employed by the "FreeMinds" clinic in Belfast. In time, Kat's family, bankrupt, start to want her to fund them. She ignores and hides a series of letters but eventually Mike finds them. After half a year of letters, the family (brother and father) decide to turn up on her doorstep to demand money from her. She obviously refuses but is pushed to a breaking point. Due to her weaning period of withdrawal from vitae pre-Embrace Katalyna frenzies, but manages to escape the building. She runs, frenzied to her domitor who secretly plots revenge. The next thing Kat hears is her brother has been murdered, but what she didn't find out was that so were her parents.
2001 marked a milestone for Katalyna; everything tested her both mentally and physically to the limit. A spontaneous, unexpected Sabbat attack at Mike's haven marks the end of this influential Malkavian. Katalyna, away on a task experiences the most mentally traumatic experience yet; the breaking of the blood bond. In fear she races back home only to find the fires still burning. This is more than she can take, her fear gets the better of her and her self-control breaks, she runs like a rabid animal through she streets of Belfast until she is dragged to Elysium by the scourge of the city on the same night. She spills out her story, what she saw and felt and the Camarilla in the city prepare for an attack. It never comes. This places Kat in a very precarious situation. Prince Milesius grants her a chance, even though most of the court think she should be burned for a breach of the masquerade AND "crying wolf", Milesius being a Malkavian himself possibly was the only Kindred in the city sympathised with Kat at the loss of her domitor. So the decision passed that Kat would be given a chance to prove herself or she would be destroyed, also that she would be rewarded with the vitae she so desired. The Primogen were generally unhappy at this decision. Two months later, Kat proves herself to the council of elders by saving one of the Nosferatu in the city and also receives her third point blood-bond with Milesius. Nights later, spurred on by her own sense of achievement Kat does some daylight snooping at her own risk, uncovering a Sabbat ghoul trying to alight a Cathyan haven and thus enabling a Camarilla/Cathyan truce against the Sabbat in Belfast. This proved to everyone present at the next Elysium that she was not a waste of space and this time her reward was to be Embraced into the Prince's get. |
