2009: The year the kids escaped from project Manticore. Also the year the pulse hit. (See Pulse, The)
Aa
Anselmo, Anabelle: Bruno's daughter by Mary Jo. (Anabelle Anselmo is played by Jodelle Ferland)
Anselmo, Bruno: A hired mercenary who led an ambush that put Logan in the wheelchair. A renaissance dirtbag, he decided to testify against corrupt city officials so his young daughter Anabelle could know he did some good in the world. Bruno attempted to sell Max to a foreign rival of Project Manticore (the South-africans), but was assassinated while leaving with his money. (Bruno Anselmo is played by Douglas O'Keeffe)
Anselmo, Mary Jo: Bruno's ex-wife. (Mary Jo Anselmo is played by Nancy Sivak)
Ashley, Peter: A former police officer who left the force in disgust at the rampant corruption. Peter was head of security for Eyes Only until he was killed during the same ambush that left Logan confined to a wheelchair. (Peter Ashley is played by Peter H. Kent)
Bb
Bast: [pronounced with an "ah" like lost or lahst]
An Egyptian Goddess usually depicted as a woman with the head of a
domestic cat or large desert cat. The full cat manifestation of Bast is
often represented as a large feline with a ring-striped tail and the Eye
of Ra around Her neck. Bast is one of several deities who are known as
the "Eye of Ra", a title that denotes a protector or avenger. As the Eye
of Ra, Bast acts as His [Ra's] personal "hitman" -- ripping out the
hearts of the transgressors and delivering them personally to His and
the Pharaoh's feet. Known as the "Knowledge through which death cannot
approach too closely." (Her initial role as the protector of the ruler
spread out to children and pregnant women in later times as Her image
became "softened") More Information can be found at:
Per-Bast (submitted by Akialyn)
Max attempted to steal Logan's Bast Sculpture. He
eventually made a gift of the sculpture, which Max in turn fenced "for a
couple bucks", later he attempts to return the fenced item in exchange
for a favor, politely mentioning that it "showed up on the black market"
(seen in the unaired pilot episode. [ref: Pilot]
Beltran, Rene: Mayor of Seattle when the Pulse occured. Assassinated after his corruption was exposed. [ref: Pilot, Red]
Ben: An X-5 who escaped in 2009. Ben was something of a storyteller at Manticore, telling the others stories explaining the way life worked. (See Blue Lady, Good Place, and Nomaly.) Sadly, Ben suffered from a number of mental and emotional problems which led him to become a serial killer, symbolically killing himself over and over again. Max managed to get to him just ahead of Lydecker, but was unable to reason with him and eventually, at his request, killed him to keep him from being taken back. [ref: Pollo Loco] (Ben is played by Jensen Ackles)
“Bite me”: Max' insult of choice.
Bling: Logan's trainer and the head of security for Eyes Only. He trained as a boxer before becoming a physical training instructor, and learned some experience in private security somewhere down the line. After an ambush left Logan confined to a wheelchair, Bling was hired as his trainer. With Logan determined to regain his original physical prowess, Bling oversees the training regimen intended to return Logan to his spry old self. Not long after the sessions began, Bling was appointed to replace Peter Ashley, the bodyguard who was killed in the same ambush that injured Logan. This meant that, like Peter before him, he would actually live in Logan's penthouse, and would not have to worry about the housing problems other inhabitants of Seattle face. Now an all purpose "man of the house" in the Cale penthouse, Bling is well aware of the working relationship between Logan and Max, and the growing feelings between them. Note: Bling is also slang for the glittering of a diamond (possible reason for the name). (Bling is played by Peter Bryant)
'Blue Lady': A guardian figure imagined by the young X-5s, especially Ben. She defended them from nomalies. (The Blue Lady was derived from an icon of the Lady of the Sacred Heart.)
Brin: X-5 escapee who willingly returned to Lydecker after she developed a degenerative disease. Brin was successfully reconditioned (read: brainwashed) to be an obedient Manticore soldier. Unfortunately for Lydecker, she obeyed Madame X rather than him. What's going on in her head at this time is very unclear. (Brin is played by Nicole Bilderback) Bronck, Gerhardt : A criminal who sold young girls into sex slavery. He also made it a personal goal to get Eyes Only. He died after being propelled from a moving plane. [ref: Out]
Cc
Cale, Bennett: Logan's cousin. Recently married. [ref: Pilot, Art Attack]
Cale, Jonas: Logan's uncle. Logan was on his yacht when the pulse occured. Rumored to own a bunny suit. Jonas Cale and his business partner Gilbert Neal devised a technology through which a hoverdrone could identify anyone from a photograph, hunt them down, and kill them. Perhaps fittingly, he was killed by such a hoverdrone when Neal double-crossed him. [ref: Pilot, Art Attack, I And I Am A Camera]
Cale, Logan: Logan Cale is a computer/cable hacker who runs an information network called Eye's Only, which exposes corrupt public officials, and helps victims of unjust law. He beleives that evil, turned against itself, will destroy itself. From his high security penthouse, he hacks into television networks and broadcasts the truth, things that most people already suspect but are afraid to ask. The inspiration for his crusade was guerilla journalist Nathan Herrero, who exposed the corruption of the late Seattle Mayor Rene Beltran. Born into wealth and privelege, Logan's parents were killed around the time of the pulse of 2009, but they had invested their savings in offshore accounts, so the fortunes survived intact. At the time of the pulse Logan was at a yacht party on international waters. He married a socialite named Valerie, but they divorced because of her drinking problem. Shocked by his own complacency, and government's strong censorship of the media, he decided to launch a crusade against the rampant corruption and repression around him. When Max tried to rob his penthouse, Logan used his vast resources to find out everything about her. Now, Max and Logan have a mutually beneficial arrangement. Logan helps Max search for others of her kind, while she helps him in his crusade against corruption. As they work closer together, their relationship becomes deeper and more complex. When Logan discovered his Uncle Jonas' part in the search-and-destroy hoverdrone project, he exposed it, even though doing so destroyed his own financial security. Fortunately he owns his apartment. (Logan Cale is played by Michael Weatherly)
Cale, Margo: Logan's aunt. Wife of Jonas Cale. [ref: Art Attack]
Calvin: (see Sketchy)

Destry, Father: A kind Catholic priest who narrowly escaped becoming Ben's final victim (He has an interesting tattoo to show for it.). [ref: Pollo Loco]
Diamond: Original Cindy's 'first and truest love,' Diamond sadly got into a lot of trouble with the law. While incarcerated for receiving stolen goods in a Synthadyme rent-a-prison, she was used as a human guinea pig for biological agents. Treatments kept the pathogen in check until she escaped. Diamond eventually died from the illness, but not before infecting the head of Synthadyme. [ref: Shorties In Love]
Druid: Druid is the youngest bike messenger at Jam Pony Express, and possibly one of it's most educated. Despite his bookish demeanor, he is actually a very skilled stunt bicyclist. The activist of the group, when he isn't spouting conspiracy theories or defending Herbal Thought's right to practice his Rastafarian beliefs, he is Normal's most vocal critic. Druid is an avid fan of the Eyes Only Streaming Freedom Video broadcasts, and whenever they appear on the Jam Pony office TV set, he and Sketchy will congregate around the set to catch the sixty second broadcast, much to the disdain of Normal, who embodies everything Druid believes is wrong with the ruling class. He spends much of his time with Sketchy and Herbal, together they form a trio, sharing a disdain for the system and a sometimes outlandish fashion sense. [ref: Pilot, C.R.E.A.M., 411 on the DL] (Druid is played by Alessandro Juliani)
Ee
Eastep, Walter: Lieutenant Walter Eastep is a beat patrolman for the Seattle Sector Police. He is assigned to the part of town where Max and Kendra live. A crude, morally questionable thug, Eastep has been known to abuse his power for his own profit. However, the same can be said for most of his fellow officers. Born in 1970, Eastep hails from Lubbock, Texas. At some point he and his wife, Stella, moved to Seattle. After finding Max and Kendra illegally homesteading in an apartment that was supposed to be abandoned, he agreed to keep quiet in exchange for a sum of money every week. This arrangement came to an end when Logan videotaped him extorting money, threatening to air the tape unless he backed off. Not long after, he was briefly suspended by Captain Dale Swanstrom for unspecified reasons. Eastep is not completly devoid of conscience, he remains faithful to his wife -- at least until she ran off with a 'kid on a skateboard.' At which point he became involved with Kendra. (see also “coffee with his saliva” and “Mr. Multiples”) [ref: Pilot, Flushed, Rising] (Walter Eastep is played by Garry Chalk)
Eric: A stray Max picked up while she was in heat, he fell asleep before he could reap the benefits of the situation -- not that he noticed. Clueless but sweet, Eric eventually ended it with Max because he felt they were ill matched... there were no hard feelings. (Eric is played by Branden Williams)
Eva: X-5 subject who's murder by Lydecker's hand triggered the escape. (Young Eva is played by Jenna Marie Gooch)
“Eyes Only”: Logan's alter-ego, star of the infamous 60 Second streaming underground video cable/news hack “show”.

Ff
FN P-90: Submachine gun that is standard issue for Manticore support units. Designed for use by tank crews, one of the reasons behind it's compact design. The submachine gun is preferably used in close quarters due to it's limited range. It's low recoil and state of the art sighting system makes it popular with assassins.
Forty-two: The Answer to Life, the Universe, and Everything.
Gg
Gilan, Emily: Sage's mother. Killed 2009 by Cape Haven locals.
Gilan, Jahanshah: Sage's father. Killed 2009 by Cape Haven locals.
Gilan, Sam: See Sage.
'Good Place': A heavenlike place imagined by the young X-5's and generally described by Ben. In the Good Place, no one ever gets punished, no one ever gets yelled at, no one ever disappears, and when you wake up in the morning you can stay in bed as long as you want to. [ref: Pollo Loco]
Guevara, Max: (see Max)
Hh
Hannah: (see Sukova, Hannah)
Hannover, Michael: Alias Zack was arrested under years ago. [ref: Pilot]
Herbal Thought: A courier for the Jam Pony Express bike messenger service, where he holds the record as the fastest rider. Herbal is a Rastafarian, and gets his nickname from his philosophical nature and his occasional consumption of certain herbs associated with his faith. Born in Jamaica, Herbal speaks a patois born of English, street talk, and his native island speech. He is single and shares an apartment with a live-in girlfriend. Herbal usually hangs out with Sketchy and Original Cindy, often serving as a voice of conscience for them. He believes that most of the injustices of the world should be taken in stride, though he worries about getting bad karma from some of his more notorious delivery assignments, some of which entail smuggling. His sense of ethics and use of Rastafarian drugs often put him into conflict with Normal, who terminated him for a brief period of time. Despite this, Herbal is generally an easygoing individual, providing a voice of peace and stability to Max's circle of friends. (Herbal is played by Alimi Ballard)
Herrero, Alina: Estranged daughter of Nathan Herrero. [ref: C.R.E.A.M] (Alina Herrero is played by Lisa Rodrigeuz)
Herrero, Nathan: Guerilla journalist who was Logan's mentor. Went underground after exposing then Mayor Rene Beltran's connection to the Liberti mob. Later killed by his estranged daughter, Alina. [ref: C.R.E.A.M] (Nathan Hererro is played by Tony Perez)

Jace: X-5 subject who did not escape in 2009. In 2020 she was sent by Lydecker to kill Dr. Adriana Vertes. Unbeknownst to Manticore authorities, she had recently become pregnant by a lab technician named Victor. Due to intervention by Max, Jace deserted from Manticore and escaped, bound for Mexico. Her baby, when born, will be named Max. [ref: Female Trouble] (Jace is played by Shireen Crutchfield.)
Jack: X-5 killed due to seizures. [ref: Pollo Loco]
Jam Pony: Messenger Service. Run by Normal, the service also employs (among others) Max, Original Cindy, Herbal, and Sketchy as package runners.

Kk
Kendra: Lives with Max in a large sized studio apartment located about a block away from Logan's penthouse. She and Max pool their cash, along with the rest of their floor, to pay off the beat cops who allow them to homestead the building. Not particularly happy with the standard of living post-pulse America has to offer, she often finds herself wonedering how she ended up illegally living in a seventh floor apartment, as well as how Max is able to get by with so little sleep. As a teenager, Kendra developed an obsession with tattoos and went so far as to tattoo nearly her entire body. She later had most of them removed with laser surgery, she still has at least one, located on the back of her shoulder. Kendra earns her keep with a succession of odd jobs, barter, and translation work(she is fluent in Japanese). She also works as a private educator, teaching classes to the children who live on her floor, and keeps an eye out for any civic events that are occuring in Seattle. Kendra later took up with Walter Eastep, a.k.a. Mr. Multiples, and moved into his 'love nest.' (Kendra is played by Jennifer Blanc)
Krit: X-5 escaped subject. [ref: The Kidz Are Aiight, ...And Jesus Brought a Casserole] (Krit is played by Josh Alba)

Lemkin, Pierpont: An armsrunner. Rumoured to be in bed with the talibans.
Logan: (see Cale, Logan)
Lydecker, Donald: Donald "Deck" Lydecker is the head of Vivadyne Research, a think tank that develops military applications for a government comittee. A Vivadyne laboratory in Wyoming developed Project Manticore, the experiment that created Max. Born in 1968, Lydecker had a promising career in the military, eventually receiving the rank of Captain. After the tragic death of his wife, he developed a drinking problem, and was honorably discharged in 1995. After rehabilitation, Lydecker became obsessed with Darwin's survival of the fittest philosophy, seeing genetic advances as a means to make it a reality. Eventually he came into contact with a corporate syndicate who shared his vision. They felt a genetically superior individual with military training would be theperfect weapons system, hence, Project Manticore was born. Lydecker oversaw the training of the test subjects but despite his best efforts, was unable to eradicate a genetic flaw which caused them to suffer from a serotonin deficiency. The project was suspended after the X-5 division escaped after a revolt. In the years since the escape, Lydecker has corrected the seritonin defieciency and recaptured several of the Manticore subjects, which he uses for political assassinations and other operations. He seeks to bring the project to the next phase, and keep the rogue X-5 members from falling into foreign hands. (Lydecker is played by John Savage)
Mm
M9: (Steyr M9) Handgun favored by both Zack and Lydecker. It has a 14 round capacity and a maximum range of 102 feet.
Madame X: See Renfro, Elizabeth
Maibaum, Kendra: See Kendra
Manticore: Covert genetics lab in the Wyoming Mountains, using recombinant DNA to produce a superior human being. In mythology: A monstrous creature which inhabits the forests in Asia, especially in Indonesia, Malaysia and India. The manticore, considered to be the most dangerous predator in these regions, has the body of a lion and a head with human resemblance. The mouth is filled with three rows of razor-sharp teeth and the scaled tail ends in a ball with poisonous darts.
Max: Max is a genetically enhanced human prototype created as part of Project Manticore, an experiment to create genetically enhanced sabotuers and assassins with heightened strengh and awareness. Max was one of twelve Manticore subjects in the X-5 division that escaped from their military handler, Donald Lydecker. Not long after the escape, terrorists set off an electromagnetic pulse which wiped out many military and economic records. Cut off from her fellow escapees, Max was driven to safety by a sympathetic scientist and soon came to live with a young girl named Lucy and her stepfather. Periodically, Lucy's drunken stepfather would molest her. Though Max could've stopped it, she instead ran away because her Manticore training stipulated that she could not compromise herself in enemy territory. Seeking for others of her kind, Max found work at a bike messenger service called Jam Pony Express, but still initially had to resort to theft to pay for the private investigator aiding her in her search. Eventually she tried to rob altruistic cable hacker Logan Cale, the author of a pirate TV program that exposes corrupt officials. Logan knew about her past, and sought her aid in his crusade against corruption. Though Max initially resisted Logan's advances, she eventually became his samurai in the battle against the corrupt power brokers of the new millennium. (Max is played by Jessica Alba, Young Max is played by Geneva Locke)
McGinnis, John: A tall, imposing figure, John McGinnis the head of security for a mysterious syndicate of power brokers, with interests in various parts of the world. Most of this syndicate's research is done by Vivadyne Labs, where Donald Lydecker developed Project Manticore, intended to create enforcers to preserve its political ties. McGinnis is a longtime acquaintance of Lydecker and serves as his main contact with their organization. With the political power structure becoming increasingly unstable in the aftermath of the pulse, McGinnis has become more reliant on assassins trained by Lydecker to eliminate uncooperative officials. McGinnis may have been responsible for the assassination of Seattle mayor Rene Beltran. Though it's not clear how much of a connection he has to the corrupt public officials of Seattle, the fact that he is in charge of preserving the post-pulse status quo could make him a very dangerous enemy for Eyes Only. [ref: Cold Comfort] (John McGinnis is played by Robert Gossett)
McKennon, Darren: Max's ex, who likened her to a "human fogbank" in the relationship department. He like Eric, was the result of her Heat period. He cheated on her, she broke it off. (Darren McKennon is played by Paul Popowich)
Moreno, Mrs.: Logan's elderly upstairs neighbor, sometimes mistakes Logan's floor for her own. (Mrs. Moreno is played by Bethoe Shirkoff.)
Mr. Multiples: See Eastep, Walter
MP5: Heckler and Koch submachine gun. Standard issue for Manticore security, TAC teams etc.
Nn
Neal, Gilbert: Jonas Cale's longtime business partner, who double-crossed him and had him killed. After the hoverdrone story got out, Neal sold the technology to Renfro for $10 million. She quite possibly had him killed shortly thereafter. [ref: I And I Am A Camera]
'Nomaly': A bogeymanlike creature inhabiting the imaginations of the young X-5s, and personified by the X-2s in the basement. People who disappeared, among them Jack, were believed to be taken to the nomalies. (Presumably derived from anomaly, which is what Lydecker referred to the X-2s as.) [ref: Pollo Loco]
Normal: As the dour, aloof boss of the Jam Pony Express Courier Service, Raegan "Ray" Ronalt is constantly disrespected and continuously pissed-off. President George Bush(the first one) was a childhood hero of his, and the business practices known as Reaganomics are alive and well at Jam Pony Express. Given the environment he lives in, his "normalness" actually makes him weirder. Always ready to react to empoyee compaints with biting sarcasm, he is not highly regarded by the people he works with. By that same logic, he is not particuarly fond of those he works with, but the tattered applications buried under his desk suggest that few people are lining up for service. He doesn't care what's in the packages he ships, or who orders them, as long as they get to their clients on time. Since the clientele is sometimes shady, this philosophy sometimes gets his workers in trouble with the sector police. Though clearly in thrall with the power he has, there have been occasional signs that his miserly behavior is actually an act, so he can run a tighter ship. (Normal is played by J.C. MacKenzie)
Oo
Odessa Lounge: A.K.A Odessa Social Club. A casino owned by Russian mobsters, where Sketchy sometimes works as a "mule" to make extra money. [ref: C.R.E.A.M]
Original Cindy: An employee of Jam Pony Express and a close buddy of Max. For her, style is everything, and she makes up her own as she goes along. Deriving her nickname from Original Sin, she often refers to herself in the third person. Street-wise, fearless, and a clear believer in the idea that there's no such thing as coming on too strong, she knows how to handle herself in nearly every situation. Her lifestyle is decidedly alternative, as she spends much of her time searching for Miss Right, or Miss Right-Now. Cindy is one of the few people who can see through Max's detached exterior, and although she is not completly aware of what her work with Logan entails (though she seems to be aware that Logan likes to “play international man of mystery”), she does notice the mutual attraction the two have. Cindy spends much of her time at a tavern called Crash, where she laments about her sometimes frustrating personal life, and sometimes makes extra money by hustling or petty larceny. Despite her man hating ways, she will rise to the challenge when any of her friends, male or female, are in trouble. (Original Cindy is played by Valarie Rae Miller)

Red Five: Apparent ringleader of the Red Series group. [ref: Red] (Red Five is played by Patrick Kilpatrick)
Red Series: Genetically enhanced soldier/assassins created in a South African eugenics experiment. Soldiers with implants that stimulate their adrenalin output increase their strength and agility and block pain receptors, resulting in hyper-adrenalized fighting machines that are incredibly strong and fearless. Red Series members are recruited off death row. Burn-out occurs in 6 months to a year. There are attempts being made to repair this bug by using re-engineered DNA — They seek to upgrade to Manticore genetic technology. Unknown to Red Series members themselves, acquiring this DNA would do nothing to help them. In fact, combining Manticore and Red Series alterations results in neural overload in a matter of hours. (also referred to as “South African Disposables”) [ref: Red, Rising]
Red Seven: Member of the Red Series group. [ref: Red] (Red Seven is played by Taras Kostyuk)
Red Six: Member of the Red Series group. [ref: Red] (Red Six is played by Mark Gibbon)
Renfro, Elizabeth: Lydecker's superior; even he seems to be a little scared of her, not that he'd admit it. She wants the X-5's recaptured or neutralized by whatever means necessary. She also recently purchased search-and-destroy hoverdrone technology from Gilbert Neal.
Ronalt, Raegan: See Normal
Ss
Sage: Originally named Sam Gilan. He survived the attack and fire that killed his parents in 2009 and was adopted by Trudy as her 'nephew.' In time he blocked out memory of the event, and did not recall until 2020. [ref: Haven] (Sage was played by David A Kaye.
Sandoval, Richard: Richard Sandoval heads up the electronics division for the mysterious syndicate that Lydecker works for. His primary specialties are surveillance of people who may be a security risk to the agency, interrogation of anyone captured by Lydecker's men, and intelligence countermeasures. Where Sandoval recieved his intelligence training or how he was recruited by the agency is unknown, but since joining their number he has been a tried and true lackey, relishing every opportunity to get out on the field. After the trail for the Manticore X-5 fugitives warmed up, Lydecker appointed Sandoval to be his surveillance co-ordinator. Initially partnered with another agent named Arnold Dochnovich, Sandoval eventually become Lydecker's right hand man, using his ties to the corrupt police to beef up his already efficient surveillance teams. [ref: Pilot, 411 on the DL, Blah Blah Woof Woof] (Richard Sandoval is played by Fulvio Cecare)
Sebastian: One of Logan's sources. A quadraplegic who needs a voice synthesizer to speak, he's got the lowdown on a lot of things the average Joe might not know: the kind of guy that can tell you about what really happened at Roswell. Apparently the Eyes Only Informant Net conspiracy theory and genuine conspiracy expert [ref: Red] (Sebastian is played by Jade C. Bell)
Sketchy: Sketchy is one of Max's co-workers at Jam Pony Express, who sometimes moonlights as a "mule" for local mobsters, most notably Odessa Lounge owner Rafe Strejc, as a way to make extra money. Like most of Seattle's inhabitants, he goes by the mantra Cash Rules Everything Around Me. Sketchy's real name is Calvin, he gets his nickname because of his friends wonder if he's all there mentally. His interests include bicycle stunts, girls, drinking to excess, and his girlfriend Natalie. His desire for a quick financial fix, coupled with some of the delivery assignments Normal gives him, have a tendency to get him in trouble from time to time. Before landing his gig at Jam Pony, Sketchy enjoyed brief stints as a pet photographer and a mobile sidewalk sign. He also spent one summer hiring himself out as a paid experimental subject for the Seattle Psychiatric Institute, and his friends sometimes wonder if this explains his behavior. (Sketchy is played by Richard Gunn)
Smith, Case: The son of Tinga and Charlie Smith. Case was very young, but already showed signs of inheriting some of his mother's X-5 abilities. He was saved from capture at the cost of his mother's freedom. [ref: Hit a Sista Back]
Smith, Charlie: Tinga's husband. He didn't learn her secret until Manticore was after him and his son Case. While at first put off by the revelation, he eventually decided he wouldn't have exchanged one second of his life with Tinga. Sadly, he lost her again when she surrendured to save Case's life.[ref: Hit a Sista Back]
South African Disposables: See Red Series [ref: Red]
Steckler, Leopold: Disgraced Mayor of Seattle... Indicted for numerous Murder counts due in part to testimony given by Bruno Anselmo. Born in 1962, he is married with two grown sons. Steckler was the number one lackey of the late Mayor Rene Beltran, infamous for his decision to establish martial law in the aftermath of the Pulse of 2009. After Beltran was assassinated, Steckler was elected Mayor by an overwhelming majority, bringing the Beltran era to an end. His zero tolerance policy on gang violence has made him very popular with the voting public. Though he projects himself to be an honest man of the people, Steckler has been linked to several kickback schemes since taking office. Note: Steckler was more than likely based on real life Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, who has brought about an era of prosperity to Muscovites since his election in 1992, despite unproven allegations of corruption. [ref: Pilot, Red]
Stem cells: Cells present in embryonic and early fetal development, which later differentiate into all sorts of body cells: nerve, muscle, tissue, etc. Not normally present after early gestation, but apparently quite prevalent in Manticores. This helps account for their unusual healing abilities.
Street Sweeper: Man by the name of Phil who was severaly traumatized by witnessing his sister's death when he was thirteen. He ran away from home, discovered an odd exoskeleton which can grant unusual physical abilities, and apparently decided he was a superhero dedicated to helping people and cleaning up the city. He joined up with Max and Logan during the search-and-destroy hoverdrone affair, after which he went home to see his mother for the first time in years. He gave Logan the damaged exoskeleton. [ref: I And I Am A Camera]
Sublime: Laundromat/P.I. office. (see Vogelsang)
Sukova, Hannah: Captain Hannah Sukova was one of the medical personnel at Vivadyne Labs. She was, among other things, a doctor and nutritionist for the Project Manticore test subjects. Despite her involvment, the brutal training of the Manticore children deeply disturbed her, so when the X-5 division revolted, Hannah put herself at risk when she took 9-year old Max into her own home to protect Max from her pursuers. Three months after the escape, the base was shut down and Hannah was reassigned to the Air Force base on Sedro Island, and continued to live there after the base closed down. Ten years after the X-5 breakout, Hannah was briefly reunited with Max, and shared a few nuggetts on Max's mother. Given what she knew about the project, it is likely that she downplayed the actual level of her involvment when discussing it with Max, and that her hands are not entirely clean regarding some of its experiments. [ref: Pilot, Heat] (Hannah Sukova is played by Eileen Pedde)
Summer, Trudy: Local doctor in the town of Cape Haven, who surreptitiously adopted Sage after his parents were murdered. [ref: Haven] (Trudy was played by Ashley Crow.)
Sung, Matt: Detective Matt Sung is a longtime friend of Logan Cale and one of the few honest cops left in Seattle. A Korean American raised in Seattle's Chinatown district, he is married and has a young son. Though clearly unhappy with the corruption among his ranks, Sung is also pragmatic, opposing the system would just make him a statistic. Instead, he focuses on the everyday crimes that plague the city, which are usually of little concern to his superiors. He became an Eyes Only informant so he could fight the power anonymously, with no threat to his job or family, and still sleep easier knowing he's doing some good in the world. Aided by an inside man in the Seattle District Attorney's office, Sung keeps Logan up to date with the corrupt dealings of Police Commissioner Allan Lans and Mayor Leopold Steckler. He is also able to use his pull with the department to help Max get out of tight spots with the authorities. However, since the safety of his family is his first priority, there is a limit to how helpful he can be. Even after his assistance to Eyes Only nearly cost him his life, he still continued to pitch in. [ref: Flushed, C.R.E.A.M., Prodigy, Blah Blah Woof Woof, Out] (Det. Matt Sung is played by Byron Mann)
Swanstrom, Dale: Captain Dale Swanstrom is the head of the Seattle Sector Police, a militaristic unit guards designated sectors of the city seperated by high security checkpoints. Deciding who enters and leaves the sector checkpoints have given the cops ample opportunity to extort money from civilians, as do several squatters who take up residence on abandoned apartment buildings. Swanstrom, however, keeps an eye out for those who seek to buy the services of the police for security purposes. When not looking for financial opportunities, Swanstrom does the commissioner's dirty work. Although most people have an idea of how Swanstrom's men operate, he does suspend the few that have been caught abusing their power, making sure there is no evidence connecting the rest of his precinct to the actions of those caught in the act. This way, he is able to protect his own financial interests while maintaining the illusion that the police still serves the people. X-2: Previous Manticore group which was an utter disaster. Twenty-six out of thirty were 'put down.' The remaining four were left alive only for study, and were a frightening unknown to the young X-5s. The X-2s seemed more like rabid animals than people. See also 'Nomaly'. [ref: Pollo Loco]
X-5: Max's Manticore group/division. (see also Max, Zack, Jondy, Eva, Brin, Tinga, Jace, Krit, Jack, Zane, Ben, and Syl.)

Zack: A fellow Manticore escapee, Zack is possibly the most pivotal figure of Max's life. The textbook X-5 specimen both mentally and physically, his Manticore handlers were nevertheless stunned when he demonstrated a ferociously protective disposition over his “siblings”. It was Zack who single-handedly coordinated the escape that liberated Max and several others on that wintry night in Wyoming. Initially Max thought that he had sacrificed himself to help her escape, but in actuality, he survived, and was later arrested for armed robbery using the alias Michael Hanover, he escaped custody just four hours after booking. Upon learning Zack was alive Max searched for him, but the reunion was not what she hoped for. Zack still sees the X-5 unit as soldiers and himself as their commander. He opposes Max's involvement with Eyes Only, thinking that staying in Seattle compromises her (in more than one way). Zack has actually developed an attraction towards Max, but his violent methods often put them at odds. (see also Hannover, Michael) [ref: Pilot, C.R.E.A.M., 411 on the DL, Prodigy, Cold Comfort, Blah Blah Woof Woof] (Zack is played by William Gregory Lee)
Zane: X-5 who until recently lived in Los Angeles and worked as a mechanic. He has a big, friendly German Shepherd.
