He is certified by shifu Liang Kam Yuen in Qi Xing Tang Lang Quan.
Shifu Paul Eng has also studied several other styles such as Tiger Claw, Hong Jia, Tai Ji Quan, Northern Shaolin and Ba Gua.
Born in Hong Kong shifu Paul Eng moved to the USA in 1949, first living in New York where he was Chief Instructor of the Fu Jow Pai Kung-Fu Federation, and later in San Francisco.
In 1967, he entered the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. During this time, he continued to teach gong-fu as Chief Instructor of the "Red Catcher" Combat Ranger training camp at Long Binh, of the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Brigade, and of the Military Police Batallion at Choloon. Sifu Eng was awarded 2 Purple Heart medals during his tour in Vietnam.
While in Vietnam, shifu Paul Eng also took the opportunity to study under shifu Zhao Zhu Xi (Tai Ji Tang Lang Quan), first in Saigon, and later in Hong Kong.
Shifu Paul Eng wrote several books about Qi Xing Tang Lang. He has done so out of respect for his older Tai Ji Tang Lang brothers who have the right to publish a book on Tai Ji Tang Lang first than him. Shifu Paul Eng was co-founder of the "Tai Mantis Kung Fu Assoc" and is Vice President of the "USA Chiu Chuk Kai Tai Chi Mantis Federation".
Shifu Paul Eng currently lives in Campbell, California (USA).
