I have been spending what time I've had for the last few months (and there's been precious little time, I'm afraid) re-wiring this vehicle. I have no experience with wiring, very little understanding, and not a lot of patience! But, we're getting there . . . slowly. I don't know how much longer it will take, but this is probably the big hold-up right now.

The radio has been positioned in this picture (in fact it has now had a special bracket made and has been installed.) It is a marine radio/tape-deck. I will be wearing an old Royal Air Force helmet with headphones built in and it will plug directly to the radio, so I won't have to have external speakers.
I have almost finished the installation of the brakes - master cylinder and lines - though haven't yet finished off the connection to the rear brake. The pedal is in and works fine. I also modified my gas pedal connection so that is better and smoother.

I decided to use the old Kawasaki headlight. I made a new light bracket/rail and put the running lights on the end, the small headlights on there, and the Kawa headlight in the middle. Looks pretty awesome I think! I'll certainly be able to see where I'm going . . . not that I really expect to be doing much night driving.

This is taking far longer than I thought it would, but then these projects always do, don't they? I am an author and am presently working on four different books at the same time (not really unusual for me!) so I don't get a lot of free time to work on the Manx. But I do what I can, when I can. I'll be keeping at it. Stay tuned! LATEST: Okay, so it's been a long time! Wish I could get back to the Manx, but I'm up to my eyeballs in work. I do hope to spend some time on it this summer, however. The wiring is still the big hold-up. Incidentally, anyone trying to e-mail me at buck@3-wheelers.com, I'd suggest giving up. The site just isn't letting any messages come through, for some reason. You can always get me at raybuckland@hotmail.com.

Here I've started skinning it and I've got the gas tank roughly positioned. I've draped some cardboard over it to get an idea of how it will look. Pretty good, I think!
STOP PRESS!!! Well, it's happened -- I've sold the Manx project. New owner is Bruce Wald of Illinois. Apart from the pressures of work (not being able to find time to work on it) I was really hung up with the wiring. Two or three different people at different times promised to come and work on it for me, or help me sort it out, but not one of them came through. I fought the problem for nearly two years! Eventually I just had to give up. My plan is to now buy another bike - one with all its wiring intact - and start over. So look for the new, improved Manx sometime in the not too far distant future. I'll keep you up to date.
