Picture quality

According to the case the film is presented letterboxed, but it's not, it's actually full screen. It's not like it even matters though. It's just a talking head (or torso), so we aren't missing much. If it was widescreen we'd only get to see a few more books on the shelf in the background or something like that. It's bright and clear, although it does have that TV feel to it.

Sound quality

Again the case boasts the audio to be 5.1 surround, but again this is false. Upon going to the "Languages" section from the main menu there are only two choices Cantonese and Mandarin, both in 2.0 stereo. There are Chinese (traditional and simplified) and English subtitles.

Menus/Extras

The menus are static, but are bright and colorful. It's not that complicated, so getting around is easy.

The extras on the disc consists of a "Making Of" feature which runs about 9 minutes. This featurette has the director talking about why they did the film and what it's about. There is also some press conference footage, footage from the film's premiere and some behind the scenes stuff. It's all subtitled with non-removable Chinese & English subs. There also is a "Director File" on the chubby Lot Sze which is only in Chinese, but looks pretty slim. The profile looks slim, not Lot Sze. Finally, there is a movie trailer for Sam Lee's WEDDING OR A FUNERAL.

Packaging

The art work on the cover looks like they used some cheesy photoshop effect on a picture of Bruce Lee. Watercolor! The same cover image is also printed on the disc. The only English on the front is the title, but there is lots of Chinese. I wonder what it says? The back has the synopsis, cast, and disc specs in Chinese and English. Overall, it's okay, doesn't look too bad.

Conclusion (or something)

First of all, if you haven't seen this movie I recommend trying to rent it or get the cheaper Deltamac VCD instead. There is nothing wrong with the DVD, it's fine on all accounts, it's just I won't be watching this disc again for a long time. That's a relection of the movie, not the DVD. If you're a collector, then you'll probably pick this up anyway as it's pretty cheap. If you are a casual fan, then I suggest watching the movie before buying the DVD.
