BRUCE LEE THE IMMORTAL DRAGON

Passport Entertainment
Region 1 NTSC

Immortal Dragon

DVD Info

This region 1 DVD is put out by Passport Entertainment, you can find it in the discount bins at all finer Wal-Mart stores. So it must be good right? A word of warning though, even lame movies have DVDs. Read my review first.

Picture quality It's full screen, but some of the video clips are letterboxed. The overall picture quality is good for a budget release, but many there are many different clips used, all of different varying degrees of quality.

Sound quality

The audio is presented in Dolby 2.0, no major problems. Mr. Narrator Guy's voice is clear and booming. I wish I sounded that manly.

Menus & Extras

The menus are static, but are bright and colorful. It's not that complicated, so getting around is easy. My biggest complaint is that there is no menus for scene selections. The main menu give you two choices, "Feature Presentation" and "Special Features". At the special feature menu you can individually select any of the trailers or "Resume Movie". It would've been nice if there was a scene selection menu or a "Play All" option for the trailers.

In addition to the documentary there is also "Show Two: Martial Arts At The Movies" or more simply...movie trailers. Passport has given us trailers for ENTER THE DRAGON, RETURN OF THE DRAGON, THE CHINESE CONNECTION, FISTS OF FURY, THE BIG BRAWL, THE OCTAGON, A FORCE OF ONE and ABOVE THE LAW.

Packaging

The attractive looking cover caught my eye in the Wal-Mart discount bin. It looks a lot better than most cheap DVDs. The back of the case is rather simple and plain.

Conclusion (or something)

Before I wrote this "review" I looked online for other versions of the IMMORTAL DRAGON DVD and there are a few, unfortunately they all sound better than this one. The DVD version availabe in the UK comes with another documentary and more extras that sound to be much better than IMMORTAL DRAGON itself. I wish I had the R2 version from Stax Entertainment instead. The DVD is decent, but the documentary is too plain and elementary for even casual Bruce Lee fans, you won't get much out of it. It is cheap though.
