Bruce Li: The Invincible

Here we go again! Another questionable kung fu DVD company releasing cheap titles with no attention given to film whatsoever. Poor Bruce Li fans...we are the bastard stepchild that no one cares for!

Picture quality

I'm starting to sound like a broken record here, but it is the same old full screen transfer from a video tape (glitches and all) master. It is serviceable, but we all know what we are missing. At times the image is a bit blurry.

Sound quality

Clear Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono with no discernable problems. .

The Film

Man, what a movie! This film often plays like two separate movies, one serious and one infinitely goofy. I really like the serious stuff about Chan Wai Man being this renegade pupil who has gone to Malaysia and become a crime lord. However, the stuff dealing with a silly tribe in the last third of the film is rather hokey. There are a couple of great fights, the best being between Chan Wai Man and his teacher, who utilizes a fan. Then there are the kung fu gorillas. What can I say about two guys in monkey suits beating the crap out of people? It is truly insane and adds to the film's cult status.

Extras

No trailer or anything like that. There is a cool menu though and 6 chapter stops!

Packaging

Here they have actually done something right! The design is really nice. Nothing spectacular but it gives a nice feel to the "Golden Dragon Collection." Other titles in that collection include BOLO, REVENGE OF THE DRAGON, THE TRUE GAME OF DEATH and the animated STORY OF THE CHINESE GODS.
