Could this be it? The holy grail of Bruceploitation cinema getting a befitting release on DVD? Well, not exactly. Seemingly cribbed from the UK DVD release, Bruce Lee - Supercampione is, while a step up from most releases, still a disappointment.
Picture quality
The film is letterboxed in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio. Sadly this means we are still missing a lot on the side. However, I can report that it looks almost 100% better than my US pre-record. Plenty of new information appears on both sides of the picture. Like I said, it appears that this Italian disc is taken from the UK DVD release. How do I know? Well, the big nunchuck scene is missing. The colors are very nice but the print has a fair number of scratches.
Sound quality
Three audio options are available: Italian Dolby Digital 5.1, Italian mono and English mono. Sadly, un-removable Italian subtitles appear during the English version. Also, the sound drops out completely in the English version during the electroshock training sequence (note: it is there during the Italian versions).
The Film
If you haven't seen this film, leave this site now! I'm serious...return your Bruceploitation membership card at the door. This is the masterpiece of the Bruceploitation sub-genre; a great retelling of Bruce Lee's life that equally balances fantasy and reality. Dare I say it, this is the film that DRAGON: THE BRUCE LEE STORY wishes it could be.

Just an animated menu and 12 chapters stops.
Packaging
Ok, here is where they got it right. This disc is housed in a clear plastic case with a shiny silver insert cover. It looks really professional (the picture doesn't do it justice). So what if they forgot to put any pictures of Bruce Li (or anything from the film for that matter) on there. Yes, it is all Lee, with stills from ENTER THE DRAGON and GAME OF DEATH adorning the box.
