AUDITIONS 
2009 Auditions were held on Sunday, March 1st.

Auditions are held in March.
Students may enter in the non-competitive division
after receiving 6 months of lessons with a member teacher.
Level 1 is for beginning students and as they progress,
they must move up to higher levels.
Up to five points are possible for each of the three pieces performed for a judge.   When a student has earned 25 points, a trophy is awarded.
Students may perform in the Post Audition Recital when they reach Level 3 and have earned 13 to 15 points. 
Students may perform in the Honors Recital when they reach Level 5 and have earned 13 to 15 points.

* Teacher must attend at least 2 of 3 annual meetings  before audition registration.

Students must perform at Level 3 or higher.

Play two duets, playing the PRIMO part of one and the SECONDO part of the other duet.

An accumulation of 17 points qualifies a student for an award.
* Play 3 memorized pieces.
* Each piece should be at least
16 measures in length,
not including  repeats.
* One piece should be slow.

* Play 3 memorized pieces.
      *Pieces should be from 3 different
      style periods by different composers.
* One piece must be in a slow melodic style
.
3 & 4
* Play 3 memorized pieces.
* Pieces should be from 3 different style  
        periods by different composers.
* Chose three musical periods from

  ROMANTIC              IMPRESSIONISTIC

COMPETITIVE SOLO CATEGORY

Students may enter the competitive division of auditions
when they have reached Level 7.

Competitive Auditions are held the same day as regular and duet auditions.

There are three levels.
Judging is done by two judges and is a little tougher in nature.
Three memorized pieces are required as in the non-competitive rules.
There is a list of required music.  Please consult the repertoire list for this year

The registration fee for each student entering the Competitive Auditions is $18.00.
*  Pre-registration form and $5.00 of the fee is due December 15, 2004

* Teacher must be an active member of MAPTA

TEACHER REQUIREMENTS:
* Must attend at least 2 of 3 annual meetings.
                                     * Must work during auditions.                                          
* Students may only enter either  the Non-Competitive or
the Competitive Solo Division, not both!
