MAPTA'S HISTORY
Milwaukee Area Piano Teachers Association (MAPTA) was co-founded by Sisters Annarose Griffin and Seraphim Stoecker.  Earliest recorded minutes are dated May 22, 1954.  This organization originated as a "piano committee" with the National Catholic Music Educators Association.  Over time, its name became Milwaukee Archdiocesan Piano Teachers Association.  In the amended Constitution dated April 1975, membership was opened to qualified piano teachers, religious and lay.  On February 8, 1987, members voted to change the name to Milwaukee Area Piano Teachers Association.
