In the culture of this world, there is one main god, the Golden Lord of Nightmares, who resides in the Sea of Chaos. From her, four worlds were created and of these worlds, the Slayers earth is born. In each of the worlds, LON (the Lord of Nightmares, which is, BTW, female) assigned two gods, one all good and one all evil. Ceiphied and Shabranigdo ruled over Slayers. They were to fight each other for all eternity until one died, or gave up. Ceiphied and Shabranigdo battled through the ages until finally Ceiphied gained the upper hand and split Shabranigdo into seven pieces. Though he had succeeded in that, he was ripped from all strength and he sank into the sea of chaos. He left behind, though, four parts of himself--The Earth Dragon King, Water Dragon King, Fire Dragon King, and the Sky Dragon King. Shabranigdo left five generals, Hellmaster Phibbrizo, Gaav the Chaos Dragon King, Dynast Grauscherra, Deep Sea Dolphin, and Greater Beast Master Zellas. These Demon Lords created their own servants, a general and a priest (except that Dynast has two Priests (Grau and Grou) and a general (Sherra) and Zellas has one person who serves as both General and Priest (Xelloss)). I believe that Sherra was killed by Lina in one of the Novels or Mangas and that Grau and Grou were killed too (the priests being gone--I'm not sure). Both servants of Phibbrizo were killed.
Hellmaster Phibbrizo, about one hundred twenty years from the present, brings about the Kouma War. During this war, one of the seven parts of Shabranigdo is awakened by the Demon King of the North (to which I believe was named Rei Magnus--confirmation of this has yet to be found). Along with an army of Mazoku, the Demon King of the Noth wages war on the Water Dragon King at the Kataart Mountains. He is victorious, but becomes unable to leave the Kataart Mountains for he became sealed in a Giant Crystal thing.
There are many races that inhabit the world of Slayers, such as being the humans, elves (who lived in a variety of place, the most known is Mipross Island), dragons, lesser demons, dwarves, faeries, and demi-humans. And of course, your usual amount of monsters like trolls, orcs, goblins, and etc. Humans are the main population like in most worlds. Of these humans, Lina and Luna Inverse live. They are two of the most powerful people in the world (besides the Five Sages and such...) and are sisters. Both originate from Zeifilia, a country known for its heroes. Luna is the only known Knight of Ceiphied (and is stronger than Lina as said in TRY by Filia Ul Copt) and Lina, as we know, destroyed Phibbrizo and Gaav, and Dark Star Dobranigudo. Oh, and Rezo in the form of Shabranigdo and Kopii Rezo with the Evil Miasma of Zanaffar. So both Lina and Luna kick lots of evil butt. Kinda strange that Lina is absolutely terrified of Luna...But more on that much, much later.
