Extinction Attack
Disclaimer: Star Wars belongs to George Lucas and I am not making a
single penny of this.
Luke Naberrie-Skywalker lay restlessly in bed. He tossed and
turned trying to find a comfortable position but the only thing there
was the echo in his mind, *it's my fault; it's all my fault. *
He finally gave up and got to his feet. He walked down the
hallway and peeked into the room that Royhen and Calen, his two
younger brothers, shared. It was cracked open and the light was on.
He silently opened the door and glanced over at the two beds. Roy and
Cal were both on the floor and at first sight of him jumped to their
feet and ran to him.
Luke put on a fake scowl as he faced then and crossed his arms
over his chest, "aren't you two supposed to be in bed."
They stopped in their tracks and grinned at each other. Then
they pounced on him and tackled him to the ground.
"Mother you can't keep the children here, Ben can't take care
of them."
"You're saying we should call in some one and relieve him of
his own children."
"Mother, he's not fit to take care of them. You know that."
"We'll wait and watch patiently before we do anything."
Luke leaned back on a high rafter. He had nowhere else to stay
out of the pouring rain. He glanced down at the ground and saw two
figures enter in brown robes and they pulled off their hoods. Luke
paid more attention as they turned towards a third figure that had
been sitting there, Luke recognized that as Supreme Chancellor
Palpatine, formerly a Senator from Luke's own home planet of Naboo.
He narrowed his eyes and stared at the other figures. He recognized
them as Anakin Skywalker and Mathius Jade, two of his closest friends
from the Jedi Academy. He had left the order at the age of seventeen
and hadn't expected to see them again, after all Anakin had only been
twelve then.
"We've thought of your proposal and have decided to accept. We
want to be part of your grand Empire and want to end the lives of the
pathetic Jedi Order after they ended the lives of our family."
"Good, good, you'll both begin your training immediately, soon
I will become Master to you."
"Yes Master," they both said as they bowed their heads low.
Luke leaned forward eagerly and lost his balance on the beam.
He attempted to grasp a breath as he hit the floor, hard.
They stared down at him and Palpatine glared at them, "who is
this?"
Anakin smiled at him, "Luke Naberrie. He left the Jedi Order
years ago."
"The same offer is open to you, my child."
"Supreme Chancellor, I'm thirty-two, hardly a child. But I
accept."
"Good, three apprentices to train."
Mathius patted him on the back, "Luke, where have you been."
"How'd you get in here," Anakin asked earnestly.
"I was taking shelter from the rain."
"Don't you have your own home?" Mathius asked and he was
rewarded by a glare from both Luke and Anakin.
"Mathius, Luke has never lived in a home."
Mara peaked into the room shared by the younger boys and smiled
as she saw them curled up against Luke and Luke himself sleeping
peacefully. She went in and brushed a lock of hair out of his face.
He looked so young, but he was a teenager after all. His muscles in
his back and arms twitched and tightened as he tensed up in reaction
to a dream. Mara reached out to the force and pushed through he
barriers he held tight around him.
She could see the two figures as they stood in the Imperial
palace.
"All the Jedi are extinguished?"
"All that I could find Anakin, many are still hiding, that I'm
sure of."
"Than what are you doing back?" The menacing shape of Darth
Vader demanded. "If there are more out there then finish them off."
"I believe, Lord Vader," he said with a snide tone in his
voice, "that to kill the Jedi was your job."
"What's even the reason to argue," a short man with pale skin,
bright green eyes and red hair asked the other two.
"Mathius this doesn't affect you."
"Yes it does, if neither of you are willing to finish it I'm
going to have to."
"It's your assignment."
"Oh no Anakin, I've done all the dirty work so far you find
them and I'll take care of it."
"Why should I, I'm the dark lord and you're the secret servant."
"No I'm the assassin, not secret servant, A-S-S-A-S-S-I-N. You
find them and I'll kill them. You need to find them first though."
Luke jumped out of the way as a red lightsaber appeared
directly in front of his face. "Fine Anakin, I'll take care of it."
He shook his head and left. He went into his quarters then
entered the `fresher and turned the faucet on. He splashed his face
with water then stared at his reflection in the mirror.
Mara pulled out of his mind in a hurry. The dream had been a
lie but the truth was worse than the dream had been.
Okay here's the next part.
Luke blinked his eyes open into the bright sunlight that was glaring
through the window. He noticed he was sleeping on a bed that was far too
small for his close to seven-foot frame. He saw the other bed beside it and
remembered he had fallen asleep in Cal and Roy's room with them. He noticed
that they were gone and rose and left the room. He stopped in his tracks as
he heard screaming and was halted by a hand clamping over his mouth.
Mara stumbled into the room where she had felt the pain. She stumbled
over a broken piece of furniture and hurried as she hurried to Ben's side.
He held his bleeding head in his hands.
"They took them they didn't even tell me what they wanted."
"Where's Luke? Ben?"
"They took him, with the others."
"What? No," Mara cried then stared at her son. The blood streamed down
the side of his face and he sat, his face expressionless. He didn't care.
All he could think about was that his sons had been torn from him the same
way his wife had been. Mara couldn't imagine what it would be like to have
that happen.
Luke fought against the gag that had been shoved inside his mouth and
tied securely in place; it had become hard to breathe as the men had marched
them out, beating him hard at every stop. His back was red with blood that
drenched through the rags of clothes that still hung from his back. He had
managed to force it up and was able to spat the gag out. He could breathe
easier and work the tie down around his neck to force it out of the way.
With hands tied behind his back it would be hard to fight his way out and
impossible since he couldn't leave Roy and Cal behind. He didn't know how he
would get out of this one.
"It'll be alright Ben, Luke will get them out."
"You don't get it do you mother. Not only does Luke not remember most
of his past he doesn't remember any of his training. He doesn't know how to
fight as a programmed. I'm sure it's locked somewhere in his brain but it
will come as a shock to him when it appears. He doesn't realize he's a Jedi.
Doesn't know it. Luke is a brilliant boy; he was designed to be that way.
That's why he succeeded where everyone else failed. He succeeded in
destroying the Jedi and he was hardly trained to kill then." Ben shrugged
his shoulders and then continued on. "He won't be able to fight unless he
reacts because everything he learned has become instinct. He rarely relies
on instinct so I highly doubt he'll escape."
"So you're going to give up on him, give up on your own sons too.
Because you don't care, you're afraid of them. You want to step out so you
can't be hurt."
"When you have experienced half the amount of pain I have, then you
can talk." He stood up in front of her. She realized that she reached maybe
his shoulder. She had been slowly but steadily shrinking with age but Ben
hadn't reached that point yet. His hair was still red with only small spots
of gray and the darkly tanned face with the small lines made him look
distinguished more than old. Mara had suddenly realized how old she actually
was. It had finally hit her. She was no longer on e of the gang, Han and
Leia, and the rest of them were just as old as she was with grandchildren
and perhaps great-grandchildren on the way in the next few years.
Luke felt a knife blade press to his throat. He had been able to get
his arms in front of him to his advantage. He used his back to flip the
figure behind him over his back. He noticed that the man had to be at least
twice his age. The man was quaking and wouldn't look up at his face.
"Sir, I'm sorry, sir, I didn't, sir, know, sir."
"Why were you trying to kill me."
"I was instructed to sir, I didn't know, sir."
Luke turned as he heard a crack and saw the red dot of a snipers
rifle. He knew the blaster bolt that was fired was headed straight towards
his heart and he could do nothing to stop it.
Here's the next part. Hope you enjoy it.
Luke knew he had no time to move before the bolt hit. He didn't think
about it, he just brought up his hand and the bolt hit his hand, harmlessly
deflecting it. He clenched his fist and he felt coldness, as the life of his
would be assassin was crushed. More raced at him and they died just as
swiftly, clutching their hands to their throats. He felt power unimaginable
fill him.
Luke took a step away and stalked out of the street. He trusted that
Roy and Cal would be brought home on their own he on the other hand had
questions that he had to answer. He needed to go home for them, home to
Naboo.
Luke threw his pack over his shoulder. He had gotten the old records
and searched for the residence he was looking for. He knew he had lost his
past somewhere, he just didn't know how far back it went. He knew it went
back at least as far as 28 B.B.Y. because that was when this house had been
put in his possession, a gift, he had read, from the Queen whom he had been
close friends with, almost as close as a brother at times. He knew nothing
more than that but he hoped things would be cleared up as soon as he had
gotten there.
He found the home; it was a large lakeside cottage, all made out of
stone. It was cold and dark but Luke felt comfortable there as he went into
a large bedroom in the back he saw a large chest beside the bed. He opened
it and glanced inside. It was dusty and there were several pairs of clothes
all in black along with several cases. Luke took both the cases out and
opened them. Inside one was a silver handled lightsaber and a stack of
holographs.
Luke pulled out the holographs and paged through them. Soon one caught
his eye and he took a closer look at it. It was of a group of people sitting
still with huge grins plastered on their faces for the photo shoot. Everyone
in the holograph looked happy. He saw a red headed man next to a woman. In
his arms was a small child with a head of wild red hair. She could not have
been more than a few years old. Another pair caught his eye. A young woman
with brown hair stood next to a man with blond hair. There were three
children in their arms.
Luke shook his head and scanned the next holograph; it was a picture
of the woman, an orange skinned creature with huge ears, and a taller blond
man. He shook his head in realization that the other man was him. He glanced
at the others; most of them had him somewhere in them, him or other people
that he had seen in the group holo.
He glanced at the chest and pulled out the black clothes and then saw
the brown underneath. He pulled it out and frowned as he saw the tunic and
pants. They were the same as the people in one of the pictures were wearing.
Luke froze as a blaster bolt zinged past him. He snapped his head around to
see a man and a woman standing behind him. The man held a vibroblade in one
hand while the woman held a small blaster.
"Come here Luke," the man said cautiously beckoning him forward.
"We
aren't going to hurt you. We're friends."
*Do these people think I'm an idiot? They're each holding a weapon and
claiming to be my friends and they think I'm stupid enough to trust them. *
The woman pointed the blaster at him and he moved aside as she fired.
He stretched out his hand and the lightsaber in the box came to it. As she
prepared to fire he ignited it a raked the blood red blade across, blocking
the bolts. His blood was screaming for the kill as he attacked her and
sliced her down the middle with the blade. He turned towards the man, the
red blood pulsating with his quickened heartbeat. The thrill of the kill
drove him onward. He knew now that he was addicted to it. He must have done
it so often that it had become not just something he was used to but a need.
He needed to kill. Needed to feel the rage that went along with it. Was he a
Sith without even knowing he was force sensitive.
Luke held the blade in front of him as the man turned towards him and
prepared himself to die. He threw the blade at Luke but it missed just as
Luke swiped the blade through the air and removed his head from his
shoulders.
Luke took the black clothes on the floor as he reached into his own
mind and removed the block that had been put there by his own request. He
put on the black clothes. The gloves, pants, and shirt, followed by the
boots and the black cloak that was blood red if reversed. He hooked the
lightsaber and let the holographs drop to the floor.
The wind caught on the edge of one and blew it out on the deck. It
flew off and hit the water floating away, forever lost. One more caught in
the wind but stopped in the middle of the floor. The three members in black
of the Sith Triumvirate showed plainly as the light shone on it.
*Don't do this, My love, * a warm loving voice whispered in Luke's
mind.
Rachaelle Skywalker Horn leaned against the wall before she turned
around and entered the training hall that her eldest brother was in
practicing against numerous remotes. It seemed that whenever Ben was upset
he exercised more. Sometimes even to the point of collapse. He said it
cleared his mind but Ben seemed to push himself beyond his limits often
enough that it almost seemed unhealthy for him to do so. With his shirt off
Rachaelle could see that he was no more than skin and bones and muscles.
"You ever take a break."
"I need to stay in shape."
"Not eating and exercising all day. That's not getting in shape."
"No one asked you," he growled as he shot a glare at her. With a wave
of his hand the remotes turned off and fell to the floor.
"Ben you can't be so hard on yourself. It wasn't your fault. We
should've known that it was hopeless to try to protect Luke. We should have
never asked you to do it. If it's anyone's fault it's ours for making you do
this."
Ben turned and stared at his younger sister. Rachaelle had never been
one to accept blame for anything, especially not something she was not
responsible. "Rachaelle, no one forced me or Nadi to take Luke. We decided
to accept him."
"He's better on his own. You've always known this."
"Lets get something to eat. You look like you're starving."
"Pretty close to it."
She smiled and threw his shirt at him after he put it on she stirred
him out and towards the kitchen. Ben gave a small smile as they passed
Rasoul who quickly caught up with them.
"Has Mom come out of hibernation yet?"
"Not yet," Rasoul said with a shake of his head. Ben raised an eyebrow
then shoved his plate away and got to his feet.
Mara jumped to her feet as she heard footsteps outside her door. She
recognized them, she knew she did but it was impossible. She pressed the pad
on the side and Ben was standing there.
"I guess now that I'm thinking clearly it's best that I apologize."
Mara hugged her son that had given up so much already.
"You can talk about it with me you know. I know what it's like to lose
a spouse."
"It's strange, I'm used to talking to you about your teenage antics.
It's taken awhile to realize you've grown up without me."
Ben knelt forward and kissed her forehead, "don't keep it all bottled
inside it'll only harm you. I've learned that the hard way.
"How is it Ben that you always end up treating your parents more like
children than anything else?"
"Because they always seem to be reacting to problems and need to be
comforted like children."
"It's hard because I know he's not dead. He's turned and I know what
he's capable as evil. He killed the Jedi once and his hatred for them is
just as powerful now as it was before. Will he try it again? Should we worry
for our lives?"
"But we're his family," Ben said as he shook his head, "would he
forget about all that?"
"I don't know, I don't remember him in the Empire. But if he was as
bad as Darth Vader..."
"I hope he isn't that bad. You said he was never heard of in the
Empire. Surely he can't be that bad."
"Swallow those thoughts Ben before they corrupt your thinking. He
slaughtered the Jedi, even his own master and I've heard the connection
between Master and Apprentice is as close as a parent and child. Could you
imagine killing me? Or him?"
"No, but if he's that evil why didn't he destroy the Rebellion when he
had a chance? We know that had to be his assignment. If he was that cold
hearted why didn't he just finish it and return to the Empire. Why did he
just wait out the entire war and the Vong war when he could have turned the
Rebels over at any time? He was one of the heroes so why didn't he?"
"I can't imagine why. I can't answer those questions. You want to talk
about something?"
"No one knew Nadi's past if they did she wouldn't be trusted."
"I know nothing Ben."
Ben raised a hand, "I already know, Luke overheard a conversation with
her brother before she was killed."
"What is it Ben? What's wrong?"
"You married a murderer without knowing it and it seems, so did I."
Mara stared at her son, "Ben you don't have to tell me this."
"No I think it would be best. I've acted like an idiot towards you and
you deserve to know why."
"You were in shock."
"I gave up on Roy and Cal because I no longer cared. They were the
children of a murderer; she had raised them. Why would they be any
different?"
"Ben," she started but was halted as he raised a hand.
"She murdered people in secret that had harmed her family in any way.
Anyone that threatened any part of her family was quietly disposed of. What
do you think happened to those people that threatened to kidnap either me or
Rachaelle?"
"They just disappeared."
"They were found dead. Only their ashes, of course, because their
bodies were burnt. She came from a family that was part of the Imperial
Court and not only that they were steeped in the darkside. She was trained
to kill, like any Mistryl."
"And you have a problem with that. Why?"
"I was taught that you should value all life but she was trained to
take that life away. I was uncomfortable with it first then I saw reason in
it." Ben patted her shoulder and stood up. He began walking away but turned
as he reached the door. "Maybe you should put yourself in father's position
and ask yourself why he did it. Perhaps you'll find that he is not
necessarily evil but only misunderstood and that you were the one being the
fool."
Mara stared at her son as he left. Had he just called her a fool?
Rachaelle hit the floor hard the twin blades the color of a setting
sun shut off as the purple and silver blades of her brother and husband
stood still in their halted positions. Rachaelle brushed herself off as she
attached her lightsaber to her belt.
Rachaelle had never liked the outright fighting it took to be a
warrior she proffered the secret art of slicing. She could take out her
enemies without physically harming a single one. She had never been that
good at the handling of weapons, just good enough to keep up with her twin
brother. Although two against one was hardly fair. She glared at the two men
but they didn't seem to notice any.
Luke glanced over at the other figures in the distance. He smiled
inwardly as he saw the two blue blades intercept. Anakin and Mathius. Luke
shook his head and joined them. They were soon to leave on their first group
mission in the time since Luke had left the Jedi Order. He didn't know why
he had been called back. Anakin and Mathius deactivated their sabers and
returned them to their belts as Luke joined them. A young woman, a male
alien, and a female Twi'lek who were all old friends joined them.
"We should have one more person," Anakin said with a frown. "Any
Idea
where she is?"
"I'm right here Skywalker," A female voice growled from behind him.
Luke turned around a glanced at the woman. She was tall, or at least
when compared to anyone besides him or Anakin, and slender. She wore her
thick blond hair in a long braid that fell to her waist. "Kanas Denit,"
he
muttered as he stared at her.
"Is it just me or did some one else feel that disturbance in the
Force," Mathius muttered.
"Luke and Kanas were involved while they were training."
"Involved?"
"Intimately, I think we should stay out of this."
"Luke Naberrie," Kanas said her blue eyes raking over his body as if
she was studying him for defects before claiming him back. Then they locked
onto his eyes. "You haven't changed any." Kanas latched her hand on
his
shirt collar and dragged his face down to her kissing him with the passion
of lost time.
Luke Naberrie woke up with a shock. He remembered the mission; it was
the mission before Mathius had left the Jedi Order. After that the next time
Luke had seen Mathius was when they had all given their lives to Palpatine
as part of his new order.
Well, here's the next part of my fic,
Rasoul Skywalker was on his feet moments before the battle alarm went
off ringing throughout the ship. He pulled on a shirt and his boots and ran
out of his room to the bridge. The bridge was alive buzzing with the noise
of people everywhere.
Rasoul caught up with one of the deck hands and grabbed them by the
arm. "What's going on?"
"It was a battle alarm sir."
A battle alarm? Here? Now? He turned at a touch on his shoulder.
"Rasoul, they're boarding. We're loading onto the escape pods. Have you
seen
mother?"
"No, Rachaelle do you think she would try_"
"I hope she's not that desperate."
"The most we can do is sit back and hope. We have to get out of here
though."
Ben Skywalker felt the bump as the boarding party latched onto their
ship. If it was a fight they wanted he would give them one. They were the
people who had kidnapped his sons and murdered his wife. They had torn his
family apart and Ben wasn't about to let them off easily. He stretched out
to the Force and felt that they were coming. They were going to be there at
any second.
Tobeous Horn was facing a mob of enemies ones that wanted to kill
anyone and everyone on the ship. His sons glanced at him and he nodded
taking his lightsaber off his belt and igniting it. He turned as he heard
the blast of an explosion and felt the force of it throw him back. It had
caught both of his sons full force. Tobeous tried to diminish his pain but
it wasn't working. He could see the mangled remains of the bodies of his
sons and that of his own leg. The limb had been torn off by the explosion.
He could feel the strength draining out of him as he continued to lose
blood.
*Rachaelle, * he thought towards his wife.
*Tobeous, hold on, we'll get you help. *
*It's too late Rachaelle; get out of here as fast as you can. I love
you. *
*We'll be together again someday, good-bye my Love. *
"Ma'am, Naberrie isn't here."
A woman looked down at one of the soldiers. She had been the first
success for the programmers and now that Luke Naberrie had disappeared that
left her in charge.
"Anela, Deacile, I want 573B found," interrogate a few people quickly.
Don't let anyone escape. Once you're done destroy the ship. We need enough
time to get out though."
"We'll take care of it Alesa."
"Naberrie and his protectors have taken out so many of us. I want you
two to do it. We have wasted all our amateurs now it is time to get
something dead. I want Naberrie to have no one to turn to."
"Yes Ma'am."
Deac shook his head, "take out Luke? She must be insane. No one can
take out Luke. Not even if we had all of us here."
"I think we could if we had about fifty of us, but no less."
"Anela, how much spice has your sister taken?"
"I don't know Deac, I don't know."
*Good-bye, my Love, * Rachaelle whispered through her thoughts to her
dying husband. She could feel his pain just as she could feel that he was
trying to hide it from her.
"Rachaelle," Rasoul asked his twin sister as he felt the turmoil
within her.
Rachaelle slowed her breathing rate until she relaxed and her eyes
locked on a counting device. 00.00.03. She glanced at her brother knowing no
one would make it off the ship alive and that the 'programmed' were already
gone. They had won.
Luke Naberrie awoke in a cold sweat he could still feel the coldness
and hear the screams that echoed in his mind. They had seemed so close to
him. Luke got to his feet silently and glanced out a window. The sun was
rising over the water of the lake turning it orange, almost like fire.
Red-gold, the word echoed in his mind bouncing off the walls silently.
"It's beautiful, isn't it."
Luke turned sharply and saw before him a figure surrounded by a bluish
gleam. It was a woman, she was beautiful and familiar with bright green eyes
and hair that was not quite a pure red, but it was certainly red. Was it
some sort of supernatural being?
"Who are you? What are you?"
"I'm human, just like you. Listen, Luke, love, we don't have time for
games."
Love, she had called him love. Had they been lovers once? The
familiarity remained tight in his mind. Who was she? "Why did you call me
that?"
"You don't remember?"
Luke shook his head and attempted to clear it. The resemblance to
Kanas was so uncanny. Kanas, another name from the past, She had once been
his lover. He remembered that but this new woman, he recognized her, he knew
he did, but where from he couldn't place. This woman of course had paler
skin and her hair was red as opposed to blond, she looked much like Mathius;
Mathius, another name from the past. He felt the rage that boiled just under
the surface as he bristled at the thought of the name. Why did he hate
Mathius so? His memories weren't completely clear from that time but the
dreams, the dreams were clearing it up. The memories were from so long ago
they weren't all clear. Besides that was so long ago. But how could the
woman be related to Mathius and Kanas. Mathius had married Barriss not
Kanas. What was going on?
"Who are you?"
"It seems your memory is not up to spec so if you must know I am Mara
Jade."
Jade? That had been Mathius' last name he remembered that. The
memories were still foggy but they were getting clearer. He decided he was
still dreaming so he lay back down in the bed and pulled the blanket back
over his head.
Alesa glowered down at the man the soldiers had brought to question
about the whereabouts of Luke Naberrie. He refused to look at her but
continued to look straight at the wall as if trying to burn a hole into it.
"Answer me when I talk to you," she snapped angrily. She grabbed his
hair and yanked his head back as hard as she could. It left him disoriented
and unable to do anything. The man wanted to scream in pain but he wouldn't
let them think they were near to breaking him even if he was. They had
shocked him volts of electricity that left him badly burnt and in pain. He
let his head slump down and tried to reach out to the Force to try to quell
the pain. They had struck him until his body had become broken. He didn't
know how much longer he would be able to withstand it. They had pumped
chemicals into his brain to keep the endorphins from being released. It was
working because he could feel every bit of pain. Not much of him had been
physically harmed; it was all chemicals. Chemicals to create the incredible
hopelessness and pain he was feeling. He wanted to die.
It felt like he had been electrocuted and his body had been smashed by
a speeding repulsor tram. His bones felt like they had all been shattered
over and over again. He wanted to will himself unconscious but there was
nothing he could do.
It would all go away if he answered, if he just answered it would go
away. He felt a new roll of incredible pain and he screamed. He couldn't
hold out against it any longer. The question was how much could his mind
take. His body remained in perfect health, oh but his mind, his mind was in
torment. How much more could he take?
He had done his lessons in school well, he remembered the Psychology
professor teaching about mind over matter. Psychology be dammed as far as he
was concerned. The pain, it wasn't physical, it was only psychology, all
chemicals injected into his brain.
When he grew used to the pain almost a new wave of pain even more
intense hit him and they knew they were succeeding as he screamed in pain.
His body whole and strong but his mind was in torment. The man drew into the
pain and silenced himself. They grew angry with him and smashed emotion
against emotion, not just pain anymore but joy against sadness to wear him
down, to weaken his defenses. He felt the exhilaration of his first time
making love and then the mental torment as he felt the death of his wife.
They were breaking him down, battering his walls down with the shock of
emotion against emotion.
The woman in his arms sobbed quietly as he held her closely. The loss
of their first child had hit them both hard. Stillborn, the child had been
stillborn. The pain had hit them full force.
The air was dingy and he knew as a teenager that he wasn't supposed to
be there but he had disguised himself with use of the Force to get in. He
was only fifteen and he was in a striper bar. The woman in front stripped
off her shirt to show only pale tattooed pale skin underneath. Soon the long
thin tattoos that covered her breasts were the only thing that covered her
as she danced seductively. He swallowed hard and even though he knew he
wasn't supposed to be there he was exhilarated.
It continued, never relenting until the shields he created were
shattered and the pain once again brought him down. "Luke Naberrie is gone,
he went home to Naboo. He's there now," Ben Skywalker said through clenched
teeth.
Alesa grinned and brought her small knife up. She had what she wanted
but bombarding the man with emotional pain was not enough for her. She had
to feel her knife bite into flesh, had to feel the blood run freshly over
her hands.
She took the knife and slowly sliced away his clothes and began to
tear at his skin. Ben let himself fall into the pain as his blood covered
his body and dried. The last thing he realized was her dowsing him in liquid
and igniting it with a flame. He screamed in pain but it eventually left.
Anakin leaned back into the pilot's chair as they entered hyperspace
and looked sidelong at Mathius who was gazing longingly at Kanas.
"Mathius, I don't trust that look. Don't try anything. She's Luke's
girl, besides, you're married."
"You don't have to worry about me Anakin," Mathius said as he pushed
the thoughts that were lingering away but they wouldn't leave. He wondered
what Kanas would be like in bed. Would it be worth it to risk his life?
Because Luke would surely kill him if he ever tried, and if Luke didn't
Barriss would.
Mathius sighed and glanced over at Anakin, "don't worry about it Ani."
"What is this mission even for," Kanas asked Luke who was stretched
out over his bunk.
"Investigate some rumors of darksiders on Byss. I know nothing more
than that."
"I'm surprised they even told you that much, after all you're not even
officially a Jedi since you left the order."
"I was just as shocked as everyone else when Anakin told me they
wanted me on this mission."
"How did Anakin even find you?"
"He's married to my sister," he saw her sudden confusion, "when I
was
about four I was adopted into a family with two girls. They are my sisters
by adoption not by blood."
Luke glanced up as they heard Anakin's voice over the comm unit;
"we're coming out of hyperspace now."
Kanas got to her feet and left, sitting down and buckling herself into
a seat. The old ship shook as it shot out of hyperspace and was brought into
space.
"Control to Old Republic Transport what is your cargo and
destination."
"Only passengers and supplies, we have a docking bay reserved."
"Of course, you may dock at Bay A159."
"Thank you Control."
Anakin brought the ship down smoothly, or at least as smoothly as was
possible in the old tub they had been given.
Anakin came in back and met with the others, "remember civilian dress
the entire time, hide your lightsabers and please be inconspicuous."
"Inconspicuous?" Barriss said with a smirk, "well we better leave
Anakin behind then."
The got small laughs from all around except from Kanas, "it is hardly
a time to joke."
"Kanas, relax," Luke said as he rested a hand on her shoulder.
Kanas glanced around her and saw that the Twi'lek who she didn't know
what her name was was giving her the cold shoulder and Barriss was watching
her cautiously. She knew then that she would never be accepted among them
however hard Luke tried to convince her she would.
As they got out of the spaceport and began to pick their way through
the crowds trying to get to their rooms they got into a side passage and
Luke glanced around more often unsure of something.
"Luke, what's wrong?" Anakin asked trusting the streetwise young man's
instincts over the assurance of the populace.
"There's some one following us, they've been following us since we
left the space port."
Anakin noticed that Luke had not only separated himself but had slunk
into the shadows making himself unnoticeable. "Are you sure?"
"Have you ever known me to be wrong about these sort of things?"
Anakin nodded realizing Luke's instincts were superior to any he had
ever seen before when it came to these things and he had never seen Luke to
be wrong.
"Keep a close eye out. If you can separate from us without drawing
attention do it and follow them if they leave. Can you do that?"
"Can you fly?"
Anakin didn't get the point of that question but answered it anyway,
"I can fly anything."
"You've just answered your own question."
As Luke began to drop back further into the shadows Anakin grabbed his
arm, "Luke promise me you'll be careful. Don't try anything foolish. I
don't
want to explain this to Padmé, or the kids. They like having Uncle Luke
around."
"I promise 'Uncle Luke' will be around."
"He better be or I'll let Kanas explain to Padmé."
"The Force help if that ever happens. She would never live through
it."
"Take care Naberrie."
"You too Skywalker."
Luke dropped into the shadows and the stalkers never noticed when they
passed him and he dropped in behind them. From behind he noticed that each
carried a blaster, *Anakin, be careful. They're armed. *
*Thanks for the heads up Luke. *
*No problem, you keep their focus and I'll take them from behind. *
*All of them? Are you out of your mind? *
*Just do it. *
Luke stayed a safe distance away but before he could react the
stalkers opened fire. The volley was so heavy that Luke doubted even with
six Jedi Knights they would live through it.
"NO!!" Luke yelled as he sat upright. He sat breathing hard as he
sat
there, his chest heaving. The woman was still there. He glanced at her in
recognition. "I remember you," he whispered.
"About time."
"Don't give me that Jade because right now I'm wishing we were in the
same realm so I could rip your clothes off and screw you right now."
"Oh no, Jedi don't start corrupting me now."
Luke shook his head sadly and then smirked at her. He slowly peeled
off his pants and boxers and stood before her completely nude. "Like what
you see Jade?"
"This is unfair Luke."
"That's why I have the advantage."
"Revenge is of the darkside."
"Yeah, this is for all the times I couldn't take revenge on you before
for all your antics."
Mara couldn't help but stare at him. He had the build to prove his
former career. He was tall and extremely muscular with more scars than she
could count. He was impressive, she had almost forgotten how impressive he
had always been with so many years apart, and now he was young to boot.
"Alright Luke, you win, you've corrupted me. It sucks being a spirit
and having a rink side view."
"Oh really, I wouldn't know."
"Luke, put some clothes on before I go insane."
"Na, I'm actually quite enjoying this," Luke said with a smirk as he
sprawled out on the bed.
Okay here's the next part of my story.
"I am a Jedi..."
"Try not, do or do not, there is no try."
"Have you ever known me when I wasn't?"
Luke pulled his lightsaber out of concealment and ignited it. The
emerald green blade shone brightly in the dingy alley way as he charged the
stalkers. Amidst the gleams of the blaster fire five blue blades and one
purple appeared. The onslaught continued and Luke realized the majority of
the blaster fire was coming towards him from behind the others. They had
forgotten about him that gave him an advantage he came down upon them and
sliced them into pieces letting his rage control him for a moment. As the
firing stopped he took several deep breaths and calmed himself. He knew that
he was drifting closer towards the darkside each day but there was nothing
that could be done about it.
Luke saw Kanas lying on her side on the ground and he rushed to her
moving her hands and shirt away to reveal a horrid burn. He knew that the
burn was draining the life from her and it would take a professional healer
and the facilities that they didn't have.
"We need to get her to a medical facility but first," Barriss reached
into her bag and took out a salve and rubbed it over the burn then pulled
out some bandages and began to wrap the wound. "If we get her to a medical
facility in time I can do the rest but we need to move."
Luke knelt down and took her in his arms. She moaned quietly and began
to shiver so Luke held her tighter removing his cloak and wrapping it around
her to keep her warm as he stood and Anakin led them away as they began to
search for some Medical Facilities.
Luke groaned as the blinding morning light hit his face and he
squinted into the light.
"Good dream," the woman asked him and he directed a fuzzy glare in her
direction or at least the best he could do while still half asleep. Luke
threw the blankets off of him and sat on the edge of the bed and ran his
fingers through his hair then brushed them over his chin. He had discovered
a single good thing about being trapped as a teenager he didn't have to
shave. For once in the morning after several days of not shaving he didn't
have a single whisker. "Good dream," he muttered then glanced at the
woman.
"Not at all."
"You didn't wake up screaming this time."
"Don't remind me," Luke knelt down and snatched his clothes off the
floor and started towards the 'fresher.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. I thought I had trained you better then that husband
of mine. I leave you alone for a little while and you go back to leaving
your clothes on the floor."
Luke grabbed a pillow with the Force and threw it in her direction
then shook his head. "I forgot, you're a ghost, you aren't really part of
the physical world."
"You sure you don't need help taking a shower," Mara asked with a
feral grin.
"Keep wishing Jade, but I doubt it's going to happen. How would you
help me? By sitting and staring?"
"Hey, it's a thought."
"Keep dreaming," Luke replied flippantly as he entered the 'fresher
and shut the door behind him.
"The 'programmed' were a failure," a large figure shrouded in a
cloak
said as he faced one of the scientists. "You created them to take over the
galaxy for us but all they did was become part of the populace.
"Supreme Commander," the scientist quaked, "that has been
remedied as
we speak. They are conquering the galaxy as we speak and will offer it to
you as a token of our good will."
"Your good will is what cost us the war in the first place. You have
one week to correct this."
Deacile shook his head as his knowledge left him. He knew it had been
a memory wipe like the many he had received before. The instructions were
clear, return to the training facilities. His shoulders sagged and he went
to pack some things into a small carry all.
Luke stared at the desolate silent building; he had once trained
there. He had recognized the feeling of a memory wipe, it had killed his
resistance against his commands and now his only purpose was to serve. As it
had been once before.
Luke groaned in his sleep as a coldness in the Force drifted over his
senses. He sat up and rubbed at his face then glanced over to see Anakin
still sound asleep but he was worried by the fact that Mathius' bedroll was
empty. He glanced around and reached out to his friends and felt the
jealousy and lust that was being felt. Luke jumped to his feet and ran
towards where he had felt his friend's presence. He saw Mathius'
disappearing figure and Kanas curled up on the ground sobbing. As he neared
her and held her closer he noticed that she had been stripped of all
clothing. As she felt his contact she screamed as if he was trying to kill
her. He backed away because he knew what had happened to her, what Mathius
had done to her. He wanted to comfort her but knew that there was no way he
could.
Anakin grabbed Luke's arms and desperately held him back from going
after Mathius. Luke ripped away from his grip and took two steps then went
to his knees. "He raped her, Anakin, he raped her."
Luke jerked his head up and blinked his eyes as he shook his head. He
slowly got to his feet and left the small room that he slept in. One of the
scientists was standing in the hallway just outside his room.
"Ah, Luke, just the person I was looking for."
"Why is that?"
"The former New Republic will go down and you are the one that will
take it down. You will be inserted into their capitol and will tear it down
around their ears when the time comes."
"Of course, I thank you for this opportunity."
"We can do nothing."
"You just shut up. I can blame this on you ancient Jedi to begin with
so don't start with me."
"What do they mean they can take over the galaxy again?"
Mara glared at Anakin Skywalker, "the Yuuzhan Vong, his former master
has just informed me that the 'programmed' were created for the Yuuzhan
Vong."
"Hard to see the future is."
"I don't want to here this from you either."
