Luke and Maras beginning

Chapter 1

An emergency call from the far away planet of bakura reached the new
republic : they are invaded by the sii-ruuk he was sent there for
diplomatic contact to see how the situation was .

Diplomatic missions have never been his job, that was something for
his sister but unless she had to be on coruscant, so he could find
out if he was as talented as his sister.

Two days later he reached bakura with an unease feeling what would
they expect from him will be there some force-sensitive people?
Questions but no answers " calm down " he says to him.
The landing control asks for identification and reason his visiting.
After he answered both questions he was guided by a patrolling
fighter to platform 10 where somebody should be waiting for him.

Thorn Captison was prime minister of bakura he welcomed him in a
very friendly way leading him to his house for having dinner with the
prime's minister family.

There he met his first wife gariel, she was very pretty although
seems a little bit cold, he tried to reach her through the force, but
she was not an adaptable. No one of the family was the only thing he
could feel was truth and helplessness.

After discussing the help from the new republic he spent a lot of
time with gaeriel. They grew closer each other every day, when the
final day has arrived thorn asked him to stay private because he knew
they get along very well. But he denied saying he has to make plans
of building an academy, this was one of the major point which gaeriel
could not understand because she didn't really knew what the force
was.

For that reason he wants to show her yavin that she gets an
imagination, never leaving bakura before gaeriel did not know what to
make, yes she loved him even if she did not told him yet, but will
this be enough to break up with her home planet ?

He could feel her frighten feelings of leaving to a uncertain future
with him. But she shall not go with him without any hopes his sister
offered her diplomatic position to be the council of bakura at the
new elected senate, after bakura joined the new republic. Gaeriel
felt safer after this offer and discussed it with her uncle. She
decided to go with him both of them pledged their love towards each
other.

First they went to Coruscant her impression were so strong and she
found in the sister of him a good company her live was the diplomatic
parquet not the forced one. This was the beginning of the end. Six
months after they left Bakura Luke and Gaeriel get married, it was a
very romantic wedding, for honeymoon they wanted to spent several
weeks on yavin IV. But soon two weeks later Gaeriel became bored she
tried her very best to understand the tasks and meaning of being a
jedi but could not realise what it meant to her husband. She hoped
that there will be some other interests they would share. But as
time went by both saw they become strangers within two years of
marriage, both hoped the situation will be better after Gaeriel was
pregnant with twins, as Cain and Calvin were born Luke could feel
both of them were force sensitive so he told Gaeriel about it. She
could see the hope and happiness in his face so she would not destroy
his feelings while she wanted to raise up the twins to normal,
political aware citizens of the new republic although hoping maybe
one of them would follow in her footsteps. She thought by herself as
they lay down preparing for the night that now everything will be
fine, but somehow she could not believe in. As time went by the
situation did not change, gaeriel spent most of the time on
diplomatic missions on Coruscant or on other planets taking her
children with her.

Luke spends most of the time on Yavin training his students and
looking that the academy was growing as the new republic was
threatened by an old enemy The Empire with his new first admiral
Thrawn.

Luke had to join the fleet again and went to Coruscant so he saw this
could be another chance maybe to solve his problems with Gaeriel and
their marriage.

Before he went to his troops Gaeriel and him were talking about the
last year, Gaeriel saw no necessary why the children should be
trained in the force she said it would be more powerful to grew them
up in reality not in any kind of mysterious religion where she could
never be a part of it. He threw his chair behind him and became very
angry for himself it was a shock, how could she dare to say something
so stupid. He left without saying a word the quarters and went away.
This was definitely the break.

He even really did not know if he loves her anymore. But there were
other duties to be done first.

Through the battle against Thrawn he met an old good friend again
Wedge Antilles, while Wedge could not travel with him to Myrkr asking
for support Talon Karrde, who was leading the smugglers Alliance Luke
travelled alone to the co-ordinates Wedge gave him. Suddenly his x-
wing crashed near by Myrkr one of Karrdes pilots who was running for
patrol flights near the orbit took the ship and placed it on the
planets surface. They took him to the med-center where he was put
under medical control for several days, still unconscious. He had
some bad injuries over his right chest which were slowly began to
heal.

Karrde contacted the New Republic to let them know that everything
was fine with him and the mission will be taken further on after he
will regain conscious again.

Slowly Luke began to wake up after another three days and he could
hardly remember where he was.

A white med-droid greet him an put last medic routines checks upon
his body , slowly he began to rise up from his bed, but was put down
by the doctor.

" How do you feel Mr. Skywalker ? Do you have any pains ?"

"No, not at all..." came the whispering voice out of Luke's
mouth. "But can you tell me what happened, where am I ?"

" I know this must be very irritating for you, you crashed last week
on the planets surface and was over a week unconscious, so we nearly
thought we would lost you, but for some reason your badly brain
injuries disappeared, can you tell me how ?" the doctor answers his
question.

" Well I think that must be some kind of my Jedi-Healing trance when
my body senses any kind of danger or damage." Luke told the stunned
doctor.

"Well what ever it was it saves your life, now to answer your second
part of the question, you are on Myrkyr, I believe that Talon Karrde
and you had a meeting you remember ?" said the doctor.

Luke raised one eyebrow and tried to concentrate what he just heard.
After a short moment he remembered " Yes, Yes Wedge gave me some co-
ordinates to meet Talon Karrde in case of buying some supplies for
the out coming war between Thrawn and the New republic, where is he
now ?" .

"Please you have to rest for some further hours Mr. Karrde made
special arrangements for your quarters, I will lead you to them." The
doctor said.

As Luke tries to move from the bed, he began to stumble a little bit,
the droid came for help, but Luke denied " Everything's OK, I'm a
little bit tired. "

Meanwhile Talon Karrde sat in his office and received the information
about Luke's awakening , he stood up and moved towards the door
turning his head to his beautiful second-in command and looked with a
warning gesture " You stay out of the quarters until you calm down,
Mara these are my last words you understood ?"

She looks with a deadly stare at her boss " If this is what you want
Karrde, I will stay out of sight but don't forget if I really wanted
I could get to him without your permission and you even wouldn't know
it."
A little grin played across Karrdes mouth as he stepped back towards
Mara " That's what I like about you Mara direct, without loosing time
to explain yourself..........and I pretty know how dangerous you can be,
that's one reason why I choose you to be my second in command."
His face became earnest " but listen to me, we do not have the time
to be on personal revenge mode there is something out there even we
smugglers have to fight for our independence."

With this last sentence he left the room and Mara stood alone with
her deadly thoughts about Luke Skywalker, who ruined her life.
She switched on her com-link to get a person she trusted deeply and
walked out of the room.

Finally the next morning Luke was greeted by a good looking man
about forty with a warm smile.

" Nice to meet you Mr. Skywalker I am Talon Karrde the contact you
supposed to talk about the supplies the new republic want's to buy ."
Luke spread out his hand to greet the man in front of him " Nice to
meet you to Mr. Karrde my sister Leia sent me to make further
arrangements I guess you heard about the new rising empire under the
rule of Grandadmiral Thrawn "

" Please come this way " Talon lead the way to the conference room.
They approached a large wooden corridor with dark grey curtains and
light grey carpets. " We are as concerned as the new republic is
because it disturbs not only our local business but the business
contacts to the outer rim planets since the patrols increased
immediately to a large number." Talon replied.

Suddenly Luke stopped before a large black door and looked at
Karrde " Excuse me Mr. Karrde but are you working with Jedi ? I mean
this is not a disturbing fact but I think I should be informed about
that matter of fact"

Karrde smiled at Luke " With Jedi ? Oh no but I should have known
that you are force sensitive or should I say Jedi-master? Please all
your questions will be answered in a minute."

Karrde opened the door and three other persons were standing from
their seats to greet the Master Trader with his visitor.

" Please take your seats may I introduce you to Luke Skywalker the
emissary of the new republic"

" Mr. Skywalker this is Jed Tanson, our best technician and supply
arranger"

" Nice to meet you " greets the grey- hair man with a warm smile.
" This is Evenzia Jurks our secretary and laywer of the organisation"
Talon introduced the blonde and blue eyed woman to Luke.

" And finally your so called "Jedi" Kyle Katarn our best pilot and
navigator who will be your company through our mission" Luke looked
astonished at the black haired man with warm brown eyes and stretched
his hand to greet the "other" Jedi . There was a sympathy from both
of them seen across the room. Luke smiled in response and shake hands
with Kyle.

All took their seats as the meeting started talking for hours
arguments were given even light quarrels were expected but all in all
for the first part of the meeting Luke could say it was successful,
both fractions were the same opinion they had to fight against Thrawn
but the ways were different -Oh I wish Leia were here to get to this
meetings through, now he could understand what was she going through
every day.-

Talon announced the second part of the meeting where there will be
discussing the costs advantages and disadvantages, this will be long
Luke thought.

They were just about to end the meeting to talk the next day about
some more subjects as Luke stood up when he felt some very heavy
disturbances in the force and switched on his Lightsaber, everyone in
the room began to duck under the table when the door slit open and
there she stood..... Luke turned around and stared at the most
beautiful woman he ever saw.

Her red-gold hair hung in thick curls around her neck bride emerald
green eyes were looking in his amazing blue eyes. Suddenly she turned
to him with a quick speed jump and disarmed him with a knock on his
arm and put a blaster right in front of him.

Luke could not make any move he was astonished by her force presence
so that he hardly could breathe.

Talon get quickly to Luke and took the blaster out of Maras
hand. "Mara everything is ok, by the way this is Luke
Skywalker ..Luke this is Mara Jade, my second in command and personal
guard as you surely recognise. "

Mara just glanced at him without giving any signs of apologise she
just stood and watched at him, her object of hate.

Luke on the other hand was sensing nothing as there were barriers and
shields established which even he a Jedi Master could not get
through. He just thought that she may have been trained by the dark
side of the force and he began lightly to shiver.

" So please clam down it's just only Mara, I think we should have
dinner within a few minutes, please follow me out of the room to the
dining hall."

When all of them loose slowly their shock about the nearly combat
between Mara and Luke they made their way to the dining hall.
Karrde took Mara to a small corner " What for the Emperors bone was
that Mara?"

Mara looked him in the eyes " Preparation Karrde, you saw him
switching on his saber he could kill you. I just did my job which I
am paid for " Mara answered.

" You can be sometimes so foolish, I don't know why he reacted like
this but I think he sensed some kind of danger, please behave for the
next few days than he will be off and everything will be the same"
Talon spoke to her more softly than he wanted.

" Talon, nothing will be the same we met in person and things will go
their way" She stepped out of the corner and walked down the corridor.

Talon went back to his guests for dinner.

Luke hardly could come to terms with his feelings for that woman,
neither Mara could when she began to feel his presence all over
Myrkr. From that moment both knew there would be a changing destiny
in their lives.

As dinner was finished Luke talked to Kyle about there plans for
taking off next day and their route.

" By the way who was this breathtaking woman and so strong in force I
did not meet anyone like her before."

"Well I see she has the same effect on you like to many other man she
is really the head of our organisation and make the most effective
plans and cut costs where ever is needed but she is very loyal to
Karrde after what she have been through" Kyle replied.

" What was that... was she trained by someone in the force where were
her parents?" Luke hesitate because he wanted to know every thing
about her.

" Hey just slow a little bit I really don't know nearly nothing about
her only that she wants to kill you"

(Kyle)

" But why I did not meet her before "

(Luke)

" I can only say that she was raised by the Empire""

(Kyle)

Like could sense some kind of jealousy coming from Kyle by the
mentioning of Mara, was he interested in her ?

" By the way talking about woman you are married to Gaeriel
Captison ?"

(Kyle)

" Oh yes, she is a very active politician on Coruscant " (Luke)
Kyle could feel that there was not much passion of speaking about
Luke's wife.

Luke quickly changed the subject and asked Kyle " You are force-
sensitive did you know that?"

"Of course, my father was Jedi in the old republic Horim Katarn, but
I never get the chance to end my training."

" Well what about a visit to Yavin IV at my Academy maybe we could
give you the training you need to complete you know the new republic
is always seeking after new potential Jedi."

 ( Luke)

" I do not know I do not give much about lessons and training I am
more the man who loves go out and learn by practice not by theory."

(Kyle)

Luke smiled and both left to their quarters. Luke thought about Mara
Jade, where did she had her enormous force powers and why does she
wanted to kill him. He have to face her directly.

The chance came next day. The plans were changed. Luke and Mara were
together on the mission over the forests on Myrkyr for training. Both
stunned at each other but they had to follow Karrdes plans.

They flew about one hour and Luke began the conversation " hm nice to
see you again Mrs. Jade, but could you please explain your death wish
upon me I would surely remember when we met before"

Mara glanced at him " Who told you, Karrde ? He will be a dead man"
" No , Kyle told me last night "

She turned around as if she could not believe what he was saying.
Suddenly the ship was out of control something hit the ship, they
nearly crashed at the surface of Polmain, one of the four moons which
were circling around Myrkyr.

Instead of the expected crash they land on a big plateau of sand.
Both of them astonished but no one of them was injured.
Great, Mara thought as she realised that the com-system and the drive
systems were damaged.

"Sithforsaken we are stuck on this fifth class asteroids called moon"
Luke came round to look over the controls but Mara put him away "Stay
out of my way Skywalker, nothing is going to be functioned, we have
to wait till somebody is missing us and that could be a few hours or
maybe days..........Great"

Luke smiled without any special reason " So we have the chance to get
to know each other better"

Mara turned her head around and gave him a staring glance, that makes
him shivering, knowing he just said something wrong.
" keep on dreaming if you do not want to die immediately"

He looked at her without saying anything just thinking how beautiful
and extraordinary she was.

Mara kept herself in a deep thought how to get out of this miserable
situation did not even noticed the look Luke gave her.

But for heavens sake she could not find an answer just hoping Kyle
would miss her as soon as possible, but for now on she has to be with
Skywalker the most hatred person in her live to deal with.

Mara moved slowly towards Luke's side and saying " Ok. Skywalker we
are stuck on this thing, so I assume Karrde told you about my death
wish towards your person without saying why as you mentioned before,
you're sure you want to know ?"

Luke took a deep breath inside and looking at her emerald eyes " We
never met each other before and I'm really interested in knowing why
if you just want to tell me the reason for wanting killing me"

Mara looked at him but her gaze was not as threatening as before in
Karrdes Conference-room.

"You sure you do not know where to put my person ?"
Luke shook his head which meant no.

"I thought to teach you in another way ... but any way the
circumstances does not allow ...you are responsible for ending my life
which all was I knew."

"And that means what Mrs. Jade ?" Luke glared at her with
astonishment.

" You are responsible of the death of my master" she responded with
a deep breath.

Luke stood up from the co-pilot seat to face her directly in her
green orbits " What kind of master are you taking about ?" But he
knew the answer just right know when he put his question to her.
She could feel his answering to his question as she looked in his
eyes " Well, that is very unusual you know of whom I am talking, it
is Palpatine the emperor I was his hand an assassin"

Luke could not believe what he heard , how could be Palpatine and
Mara Jade be involved.

"How I mean what have you to do with that evil person ?"

" That evil person thought me how to live and to defeat myself from
men like you, he gave me a home and a reason to live for, ....but know
everything is gone without him.... Mara replied.

Mara stood up and turned around "Let's see, if we can find something
to eat, I'm tired of talking in your company"

Luke sat stunned looking at her without saying a word. He sensed a
kind of sadness in Mara's words but couldn't reply

Mara returned with two ration bars from the kitchenette and glared at
him " what is it Skywalker ? Is something wrong ?"

"Oh...Uhm ..I was just thinking that....."

"What that the emperor and I were involved ? That is al long story"
Slowly Luke could manage to speak up again " Well we have plenty
enough of time so tell me your story if you want"

She looked at him suspiciously but stated to talk how she was
separated from her parents, trained by the emperor his death and her
joining with Karrde.

Luke listened to her without interrupting after nearly an hour, Mara
wondered why she found it so easy to communicate with him, even if
her fondest wish was to kill him but of that she became more and more
unsure, because this man sitting opposite to her was gentle, handsome
and strong in the force.

After she ended they looked at each other with silence until Luke
asked her if she really thought that he was responsible for the life
destruction , while looking deep into his blue eyes she could not
deny that he was not. " No" came her quick reply .

" So will there be any chance to be on friendly terms during this
mission ? " He asked and stretched out his hand for hers. Slowly she
began to smile and gave him her hand after their first physical
contact both felt like an electric shock running down their bodies.
Both looked astonished to what happened at the moment. " Whoa
Skywalker what was that" asked Mara by putting her hand from his. " I
really don't know I never felt something like that before, I am sorry
if I disturbed you by my gesture"

"No I am fine " Mara said.

Irritating she looked at her chrono " Kyle should really be worried
because he did not get any reply from me"

Luke walked towards Mara and checked one again the com of the ship
with no effort, it was completely damaged then turn around " Kyle
seems to be very special to you"

The first time he saw her smile " Yes he is" Slightly disappointed he
gazed though the window and changed the subject " Does this ship has
a satellite com systems, because with my artificial hand we could try
to build an antenna and place this com system outside:"

That is a great idea the sender is not damaged if I can put the
satellite frequency through Karrdes or Kyles com-link they will
answer immediately"

After half an hour the self-built com stationed was positioned
outside, Mara keyed Kyles comcode an waited for an reply but nothing
happened.

" Maybe he switched off his com" said Luke

" No he never did this before, but I will try Karrdes com"

"How can you be so certain about this " Luke asked.

Mara glanced at him with an deadly stare " Because I know and leave
it be..."

She just turned around and tried to put Karrdes private com.
Suddenly they heard an tiny voice " Karrde here who is it? "

"Karrde it`s me Mara could you sent someone to pick up Skywalker and
me from this rotten moon over here we are stuck..."

"Mara is that you....... We are very worried because you should give us a
report about two hours ago." Came the reply of the com.
" save your attitudes for someone else Karrde, give me Kyle if he is
around you."

A short static noise was heard from the com.

" Mara sweety is that you were are you? Came the thoughtfully reply.
" Kyle yeah it's me I'm stuck with Skywalker over here could you sent
some one for help we need to get off of this damned moon our ship is
not responding to any techniques we tried, please come here soon.. I
miss you"

With this words Mara was referring to Kyle Luke stated in shock, was
he hearing right what she told to Kyle? But it was not his business,
for sure he came to the conclusion that there was more between
friendship than Mara had told him.

" We will seen us soon my dear try to rest some hours I guess we will
be able to sent a shuttle within tree hours to your position." Kyle
replied

" Thanks my dear" Mara replied. The contact broke.
She looked at Skywalker and said " Now fortunately there is help
coming, so we don't need to threaten each other anymore"
Luke stood up from the co-pilots chair and said " I never had the
feeling of being threatened what consider your person Mara"
Mara was stunned by this reply.
