New Life
Disclaimer: Star Wars does not belong to me and I am not making a
penny off this story. It's just to relieve my boredom and hopefully
some of others.
Author's Note: This is the beginning of my two story Prequel to
Programmed. I hope this isn't too confusing. I hope it will make more
sense in the next chapter if it is.
Luke Skywalker's breath went out of his lungs as he hit the
floor again. His back hurt and all his muscles were sore.
His left leg had always been weak but now it wouldn't even
support his own weight. His memory was failing and his hair had turned
gray. All were signs of one thing, aging.
Luke struggled to his feet but to no avail. He heard footsteps
behind him and then felt the pairs of hands grab his arms and haul him
up onto the couch. Luke saw that it was his two sons, Ben and Rasoul,
and tried to give them some reassurance. They didn't take it but
jumped as they heard footsteps from behind them.
They turned around to see their protector, the former Mistryl
Shadow Guard, Tanith Nadira D'aklen Seone.
"Oh it's just Nadi," Ben said but he couldn't take his eyes off
her.
"Just Nadi? Nadi's worse than mom!"
"Just for you Rasoul," she said as she mussed his hair.
"What happened?" Mara Jade Skywalker demanded as she glared at
her husband. Oh great I'm in for it this time.
I heard that Skywalker.
Get out of my mind, Jade.
Isn't that my line, dear?
Looks like we've got a listener.
Not for long.
Ben's face went pale in horror and Luke knew he was in shock.
Tanith Nadira stood behind him laughing.
"He collapsed again." Rasoul said answering his mother's earlier
question.
A tall girl came up behind Mara and shook her head. She had
long, thick blond, red streaked hair and one eye was blue while the
other was green.
Rasoul glanced at her and saw the glare she was directing at
him. She didn't trust him. Don't look at me like that Rachaelle. I'm
trustworthy and you know it.
That still is to be proven.
"Luke, you have to see a doctor about that leg."
"It's fine Mara."
"No it's_"
"Mara, I said it was fine."
Tanith Nadira turned towards the three teenagers: "Ben, Rasoul,
Rachaelle; let's go."
They nodded and followed her out of the room.
Mara glanced over as Luke took a seat. They had had their
argument. "I'm worried about Rasoul. The others won't accept him."
"Fourteen years, he was returned to us after fourteen years.
It's too coincidentle. He has to be a darksider. It's the only
reason."
"You think they can sense it?"
"I have no doubt they can sense it."
"Something worries you dear. What is it."
Luke stood silent. Something was worrying him. He had received a
call from Kyp and he had to go and investigate an explosion sight that
had killed many people earlier that day. It was thought to be the work
of a Dark Jedi. If Rasoul was one he could be in more danger than he
had thought. Mara was right to be worried.
Luke walked towards the area. He saw the blackened corpses and
was reminded of the night on Tatooine when his aunt and uncle had been
killed. He halted abruptly as he saw the explosion. It was still
active. He was too late when it exploded.
Luke tried to open his eyes but he didn't succeed. Men were
poking around at his body.
They are the scientists that will create the Programmed.
Obi-wan? What? Where am I?
Your life is ebbing away as we speak and the scientists will
take your DNA and use it to create one of the Programmed.
I don't understand. The Programmed were created years ago.
They will fulfill your last request.
What? What was that?
You don't remember? You will keep your first name and Jedi
powers but the last name will be randomly chosen.
Ben, don't leave me here.
Don't worry Luke, youwill learn to suvive in this new world
which will be your home.
Luke shook his head and yawned. It had been twenty-three years.
He had distant memories but he couldn't understand them. He was Luke
Naberrie. A young Jedi Knight from Naboo.
"Excuse me?"
Luke turned around to see a young man at about eighteen. He was
a Padawan and Luke recognized him as Anakin Skywalker. They had been
introduced before just because their masters thought their resemblance
was so uncanny that they had to be related somehow. There was no way
it was possible. Skywalker had been a slave from Tatooine but he was
from Naboo. Even though there wasn't much difference in social status
after all he had been a little tramp. The security droids in the
temple were no problem compared to the security officers on Naboo.
"Luke, let me go to Naboo with you, please?"
"I don't think so Anakin. I don't want to get on Master Kenobi's
bad side."
"He won't mind."
"Yeah right. He didn't like me much to begin with."
"Can you say hello to Padmé for me."
"I'll try to remember."
Luke stretched out on the cold floor of a freighter. He had no
money and since this wasn't a business trip he had to pay for it out
of his own pocket, which was very empty, like usual. He was stuck in a
luxury Yacht in the third class quarters, which was the cold
transparisteel floor nearby the engine room. He felt trapped being in
the ship, being scoffed at by the bureaucrats. A young woman in rich
woman's clothing was peeking around the corner. Luke glanced at her
suspiciously. He didn't understand what she was doing. It made no
sense.
"Padmé? What are you doing here?"
"Luke Naberrie? Look at you, a Jedi Knight. It's been so long."
Padmé smiled at him and hugged him tightly.
"Fifteen years, it was fifteen years ago that I left Naboo for
Coruscant to train as a Jedi."
"We've missed you. Even Sola says she misses you. She's married
and has two daughters."
"We've grown old."
"Twenty-three is not old!"
"We haven't changed much. You're still the little rich girl and
I'm still just scraping by."
"You have a home."
"The Jedi Temple isn't much of a home and Master Windu isn't
much of a family either."
"Don't expect too much." Luke sat down and Padmé kissed his
forehead then turned around. "I better get moving or my guards will
come looking for me." She left and Luke layed down against the ground.
There was something there and he would figure it out. To add to his
confusion were passionate dreams of a red-haired woman that had been
regularly occurring since he was seventeen. He would figure it out
later on. He laid back but it was too late as he felt an injection in
his arms and everything became blurred.
Luke shook his head as the fuzziness in his vision cleared. Five
men stood over him, leering. He shook his head again but couldn't
quite place the men.
"Well, well. Welcome back for training Luke Naberrie."
"My name is Skywalker, not Naberrie."
"Shavit, you swore the memories wouldn't kick back in. He'll be
head strong and almost impossible to break!"
"He was going to be like that anyway."
"I told you to alter his DNA!"
"We did but something went wrong and the only thing that was
altered was his height."
"Wha_, what's going on? Who are you?"
"At least we were successful in one area. He was too young when
we took him to remember anything of us."
"He'll remember now. We need to start training."
"You have the droids?"
"Ten top of the range Assassin droids. That should be good for
starters."
"What?"
They grabbed him roughly and hauled him roughly to his feet. He
stumbled as it clicked into place. He had somehow been reborn inot a
new body and gone back in time. He didn't understand how it was
possible.
"Not reborn. Recreated and Programmed. Taken from your DNA and
changed slightly. You weren't supposed to get your memories back."
"Who are you?"
"We are your creators."
"Like hell."
"You doubt us?" The leader told them something in a foreign
language and they shoved him into a small enclosed room. "Your
training begins. Don't think, react."
Luke swallowed hard as one of the droids moved in on him. They
had him surrounded. He would lose if he didn't think of something
fast.
Okay, I just want to say thank you to everyone that has been sending
me reviews. I hope all confusion of this story is cleared up sooner
or later. Well on to the story.
*What are they expecting me to do? I know the Force gives me
power but this is ridiculous. That is why you fail, * Yoda's voice
echoed in Luke's mind. He took a few deep breaths and concentrated on
the droids. He had to calm down otherwise he would lose his life.
Luke reached out to the Force and pulled his lightsaber from
the grasp of the closest Programmer. He then realized it wasn't his
as he saw the blue blade. Fire came at him from all directions and he
felt pain as a blaster bolt laced through his shoulder. He turned on
a dime and pulled the blasters from the grasps of the droids. He was
too late as a spare blaster bolt hit his lightsaber handle and it
began sparking. He looked at it to see the tip was blown off. *Oh,
great. This is just what I need. *
Luke ran towards them and flipped over the heads of the droids.
There had to be something behind this. Don't think, react, was what
they had told him to do. He turned around and did just that with no
weapons he needed to depend on his own natural weapons. It all became
a blur and soon all were destroyed.
Luke sank to his knees in shock. "It's not possible. How can I
do this?"
"This is what you were Programmed to do."
"You have yours prepped."
"Of course." Luke turned around and faced the Programmer that
seemed to be reading his mind. "You against theirs. They create
droids and we program humans. We are trying to find out whether
biological or machine is better. It's not as horrid as you think."
"You're using me."
"You are mine. You belong to me and never forget that. They
have created the HRD. Now you must defeat it."
"No, I am human. I will not do your bidding just for a little
private competition. I am not a toy of yours and never will be."
The programmer pressed a button on a small remote and Luke's
hand went to his head as he felt a severe pain. His legs gave away
and he lost control of his muscles. "You will destroy that HRD when I
tell you to." The HRD walked to the middle of the fighting
ring, "now."
Luke's muscles responded automatically. He had no control over
his own body. When told to kill he would kill. An absence of
freewill. He knew if it went on like this for long it would become an
absence of self.
Luke stood up and crossed over towards the HRD. He swore he was
being cursed because the way the HRD was designed... it looked exactly
like Mara. He drew a slow breath and focused on her. No choice, he
had no choice.
They circled each other slowly Luke kept his own thoughts and
emotions in check. This woman, the one that stood before him was a
droid, not even human and even through physical resemblance was not
anything like his wife. She feinted a low kick that he blocked by his
shins in order to stop the punches that rained on his shoulders and
towards his stomach. He blocked and sent a high roundhouse kick that
connected with her temple. She stumbled back and continued to attack.
They went on for fifteen minutes, each falling back some. He managed
to get a high kick in which connected to her face. It shattered the
metal that served as a skull. She ignored it and charged him. He
brought a kick to her stomach, which ripped the body in half.
Luke sunk to the ground in horror. How had he been able to do
that? Where had that type of strength come from This was only the
beginning.He could see the electronics.
They would force him to murder innocent people. As he saw the
face he knew it would haunt his nightmares for eternity. It just also
happened to be the face of his wife. Luke was positive it wasn't
coincidence; it was the darkside of the Force at work.
The droid designer stared at the man that was one of the
Programmed and turned towards his guards. There were certainly many
to carry out his will. "I want that remote."
As they hurried to carry out their employers will the
Programmer stood and gloated.
"Your full designation is 572B-TYPE XY-4GROUP2-MODE FFM." He
smiled in glee then saw the guards. "572B! Kill them immediately!"
Luke stopped where he was. Obviously he would have to murder
sooner than he had thought because his muscles were reacting to the
commands again. He took a deep breath as he focused on the guards.
The command resounded in his head. KILL THEM IMEDIATLEY!
Luke unwillingly crossed over to where the guards were starting
to surround the Programmer. He didn't want to do it but he had no
choice. The guards looked at him in fear. He could feel it, taste it.
He could smell their nervous sweat. The Programmers had turned him
into a creature that kills without thought or remorse. It didn't take
much to do. Instead of thought and feelings what was in its place was
cool and calculating. Murder and bloodshed without a second thought as
he came up and grabbed one guard by the throat and shoved him against
the wall. He slumped dead and he took out the others just as
efficiently. There was one word in his mind. Kill. He had been pushed
over the edge now and somehow he knew he would never be able to
return.
Luke slumped to the ground as it was finished. The Programmer
walked over with a sly grin. "Get up. You still have training. You did
good but not good enough.
Luke gasped for breath but was urged forward with the crack of a
vibrowhip on his bareback. He felt it open skin and he felt the blood
drip down his back. As he fell it bit into his back once again. His
face was badly sliced and his eyes stung from the blood and sweat that
dripped into them. He yelled out in pain as the trainer kicked him
hard. His hair was drenched in his own blood as he tried to get up but
could not succeed. He was kicked again and yelled out in pain and he
was shoved down a muddy hill. He collapsed and fell into the mud.
"Mara," he whispered, "Mara. I want you here." * Mara, hear
me.
Skywalker, you idiot, * he reprimanded himself. * Get a grip! You're
in the past, years before she was born, before you were born. Don't
wallow in self-pity just because she's not here. You're stuck here and
when she is born she won't know you. You're six months older than your
own mother! * He fell asleep of pure exhaustion but it was in no way
dreamless."
He was lying on his bed as Mara straddled his hips. She pulled
at the waistband of his pants and slipped her hands inside. Luke began
squirming and moaned as she covered his mouth and felt her tongue
enter his mouth and wrestle with his own. As she continued he groaned
again. He knew he would go over the edge soon. "No, not like this. Not
now. Not now when there is no way I can have you."
She rose off the bed and Luke noticed, as she stood in front of
him completely nude. He could see her curves in the darkroom. Her
entire body was very obvious with pale skin against the dark. He was
breathing hard and unable to control his urges as he stood up and took
her in his arms. He shoved her down against the bed, brushing against
her breasts.
Luke woke with a startle. His body hurt and as he glanced around
he slumped into the mud once again. All thought off staying awake was
gone.
Luke sunk into the bed beside his wife. It had been a long day
with two three-year-olds in the house and to add to that Ben was five
and getting into obscene amounts of trouble. Rest would be nice but
rest would elude them that night. Luke was awake in a second as he
heard a scream. He was out of the bed with Mara on his heels. When
they reached the twins' room they saw Rachaelle screaming but Rasoul
was gone. He was just gone.
Luke glanced at Karrde as Mara attempted to explain something to
him. He was laughing and Luke couldn't help but smile. He glanced over
at Rachaelle. At thirteen her legs were week because she had been
bound to a repulsorchair her entire life. She was improving and
continued to try to get up. He turned back to see Mara throw her arms
up in exasperation. He smiled and Karrde burst out laughing as Mara
turned around and left. She joined Rachaelle ten meters away and
Karrde began talking to Luke trying not to continue laughing.
"Luke!" He turned around and saw Rachaelle standing for the
first time. Karrde stopped in midsentence in shock. Luke ran over
there and joined his wife in celebration.
A large, burly man approached Ben and Rachaelle silently. He had
Ysalamiri Luke knew that. The man had kept him disoriented so he
couldn't interfere. He pressed a knife blade to Ben's throat and Luke
knew it was over for him... but he suddenly noticed one tall but slender
woman move up to the man and forced his arm back. He sliced at her and
it caught her arm. Finally the man left and Luke had no doubt that the
man had been the one that had taken Rasoul and the woman had just
saved Ben's life. Ben stood up as the woman freed them. "I had it all
worked out. I could have saved myself." The woman just smiled
knowingly at the boy at seventeen.
"What can we do to repay you?"
"Train me as a Jedi and let me become the bodyguard of your
children."
"Why?"
"My father took one of them. Let me do this for you."
Jedi Master Mace Windu knelt beside the boy and shook his head.
He'd recognize Luke Naberrie anywhere after all he had gone through to
train him.
"He's going into shock, Master Windu." A young woman who had
just reached knighthood told him. She had the brightest green eyes he
had ever seen.
"Can you save him?"
"I'll do what I can Master. But we're running out of time. I
doubt he has much of a will to live anymore. I doubt he'll survive the
night."
And the next part
Luke woke up and found himself in front of a lit firepot with a
blanket wrapped around his shoulders. He was shaking but had mostly
dried off. He brushed the blanket off his shoulders but was stopped
as he felt a small pair of hands rest on his shoulders. Luke tried to
turn around but was stopped.
"Not a smart idea to take it off, Jedi Naberrie. You'll freeze
to death. You're lucky to be alive, you must have some great reason
to live."
She helped him turn towards her a he locked on the bright green
eyes and blond hair. "Who are you," he managed to say.
"Barris Offee. I trust you remember me, Luke. After all we did
much of our group Padawan training together."
"Your healing, I take it, is the reason I'm still alive."
"No, your power and will to live took a large part of it."
"Very little. I suspect that if you had not been there neither
would I be."
"I didn't do that much, really."
"I'm supposed to believe that?"
"I guess not."
Luke stood up as he felt his strength was returning. He glanced
up as he realized the ceiling was low but it should be high enough.
After all he was rather short and Han had never given him peace about
it.
As he stood up he stopped in shock as his head hit the ceiling.
The years went by as Luke completed his training. Luke learned
two important lessons: Resistance is futile unless the one unless the
one holding your chain is distracted and pain is the greatest teacher
but the most feared is the side effect of the teacher's whip.
Fury
Fury causes star systems to collapse.
Luke was now free of the Programmer because of his building
fury and his master's inattention as he gained enough control to
break loose. He had been captured again after Barriss had saved his
life. The Programmer was never far behind him, he discovered too
late. Now he was free for good, he hoped, but nothing would be able
to make him go back. He would take his own life before that happened.
Though he became more uncertain as he saw the glares he
received from the Jedi Masters as he aproached the Jedi Council
meeting room. They had to know something he did not.
"So this is what they do to murderers. They award them with a
spot on the council." Luke turned to face the source of the comment.
It was a tall young man with short blond hair and icy blue eyes. He
was shorter than Luke was but aside from that they looked so much
alike. Luke straightened out his robe and stared directly at the
young man.
"Anakin Skywalker, would you like to say that to my face." Luke
paused as a woman showed up behind Anakin. "Luke, your back."
"Stay out of this Padmé."
"No, he's a close friend."
"And I'm your husband."
Luke took several steps towards him so Anakin was forced to
look up. "Smart men keep their opinions to themselves; brave fools
call a man names to his face. Cowardly fools call a man names behind
his back. Not many men dare to call me names and those foolish ones
rarely think it was worth it."
Anakin took a nervous step back. He swallowed hard and glanced
down.
Luke resumed his walk towards the meeting room and shook his
head. He had gone through a lifetime of ridicule and only now when he
had no shinning image to uphold and was feared could he renege on
that. His anger previously withheld as the names stung. He wasn't a
bully, he was just angry.
He knocked on the door and was told to enter. He walked in with
back straight. "Jedi Naberrie, impressed with your abilities, we are."
"You've proven yourself worthy of higher title. You will be a
member of the Jedi Council on majority pleading for it."
"Excuse me Master? Pleading?"
"There's more behind this than what meets the eye."
"Yes."
"Walk with us Luke."
"Of course Masters."
"We are on first name basis now I believe."
"Of course." Luke followed Mace Windu as he excited and stood
to his right as Yoda on his repulsor chair was to his left.
"This is a dangerous time Luke. We need you as a ranking member
because your are the only one to gain Senator Amidala's trust other
than Anakin Skywalker. She is in danger along with her daughter and
two sons. The twins are most powerful."
"How old are these children?" Luke asked wondering if anything
had changed.
"The girl is three and the identical boys are both two."
"Excuse me? Identical boys?"
"Yes."
Luke froze but his momentum kept him moving. Identical boys?
That wasn't right. Something had been changed when he went into the
past. The presence of Luke Naberrie kept Luke Skywalker from ever
being born. He had spelled his own doom. But, if he didn't exist what
was he still doing there.
Luke pulled his head back as the brown haired brown eyed three-
year-old in his arms grabbed his braid again and began sucking on it.
He pulled the long braid back behind his shoulder as Padmé walked
into the room. She covered her mouth but a laugh escaped.
"You're trouble, just like your mother."
Leia gave a giggle and grabbed Luke's braid. "I think she likes
you."
"No, she just likes my hair."
"You're very good with children. It's surprising, really,
considering your upbringing. It's a pity you've committed your life
to the Jedi Order."
"Why? You think I've missed my calling as a daycare worker?"
"No, I just remember that you've always wanted a family and now
you'll never have one."
"The future is always in motion."
"Yeah but you're so dedicated to the Jedi Order, I doubt
anything will tear you away."
"A wise Jedi once told me that the future is always in motion.
I'll stick to that."
"What's that? One of Master Windu's lines."
"No Master Yoda's."
"The twins finally fell asleep. Anakin is gone on another trip."
"What's with all these trips?"
"Why are you asking?"
"I was just wondering."
"On a need to know basis?"
"No."
"Leia, say good night to Luke."
"Night, night Lukie."
"Good night, little Princess."
Padmé took Leia from Luke and brought her into her room. Luke
walked out onto the deck that was overlying the water. He leaned
against the rail then hoisted himself on top of it and dangled his
legs over the edge.
"It's peaceful, isn't it."
"Yes, I miss living here."
Padmé rested her hands on his shoulders and then shoved him
off. He turned the fall into a graceful dive. "Showoff," Padmé
muttered as she glanced down at the water. She peeled off her outer
clothes and stood in her swimming clothes and jumped in. Luke still
hadn't reached the surface and she yelled as she was dragged under
the surface. She popped back up as Luke reappeared. He was laughing
as Padmé swung at him but he went under again and showed up behind
her.
It was several hours later when they had gotten out and went
into town leaving the children in the care of Lasé. Luke brushed past
a few men that he recognized as members of the security force. They
weren't young, which meant he had probably given them the slip more
than once. He was knocked full force in the chest and stumble back.
He was offered an orange colored hand and he got back to his feet.
"Mesa, very sowy. Mesa Gan Jo Ras."
"Gan Jo?" Luke said as he glanced at the Gungan that claimed to
be one of his closest friends."
"Lukie! Lil Lukie not so lil any moi."
"Gan Jo, it's good to see you again. It's been years."
"Very good to see yousa. Who is dat?"
"Padmé, a senator. She's an old friend."
"You say Senator like it's a bad thing."
"Not what I meant at all. I just don't understand
politics."
"Fresh food is getting expensive now."
"You're telling me. I can't afford them."
"Please tell me you aren't resorting to stealing again."
"Padmé I have no money. I can't afford food and the Republic
has stopped supporting the Jedi monetarily. We have to depend on our
own money and I still have none. I can't pay for any food because I'm
on my last penny."
"How did you get to Naboo?"
"I stowed away on a freighter."
"I can't believe you would ever."
"I'm a tramp, that's what I do."
Luke glanced down as his long-range communicator
beeped. "Naberrie," he said as he clicked it on.
"Master Naberrie, I need your help."
"Who is this?"
"Barriss Offee. I saved your life once before, now I need your
help."
"What's wrong?"
"My husband has turned. He's coming after me and the child I
carry. Will you help me?"
"I'll see what I can do. Are you on Coruscant right now?"
"No, I'm on Fondor. It's too dangerous to travel."
"Can you get to Coruscant?"
"I'm on a planet called Naboo, can you get there?"
"Yes."
"Meet me here in two weeks time."
"Okay."
Luke stood in the alley where he had arranged to meet Barriss.
He watched as a dark figure in a concealing cloak approached him. She
pulled back her hood and handed Luke a bundle of rags as blaster fire
that Luke recognized as to be from a sniper rifle went into her back.
She collapsed and his face and clothes were covered in blood. He
glanced at the bundle of rags and pushed them apart. He saw inside an
infant with red-gold hair and bright green eyes. He took a deep
breath as he realized who exactly the infant was. He stared at the
child that in a different lifetime would be his wife but that life
was gone for good.
Luke wrapped the infant back up in the rags and left for home.
Padmé ran out when he arrived and gasped as she saw Luke's clothing
covered in blood.
"What happened?"
"Some one killed a woman I was supposed to save. This is her
daughter."
Padmé peared at the child and looked back at Luke. "What are
you going to do with her?"
"I'm going to raise her. It's the least I can do."
"What is her name? Did Barriss name her?"
"Mara, her name is Mara."
"Who was her father?"
"A Sith by the name of Mathius Jade. We've worked together on a
few misions before."
"Luke, there is no way you can support a child. You can't even
support yourself."
"I will find a way because it is my destiny to raise this
child."
Luke watched a group of children playing in the field. He
smiled as he saw the group of Padawans run into a shallow, clear,
pond. He smiled as he saw a mop of red hair. "Enjoying yourself Luke."
"Very much Master Windu."
"We're very much equals now."
"I'm sorry I still wait patiently for you to scold my every
misstep."
"Yoda and Obi-wan will be arriving soon."
"Of course. To speak of Anakin."
"He is straying dangerously close to the darkside."
"I worry about him."
"We all do."
"Concerned for Obi-wan now, I am."
Luke and Mace turned around to face Yoda in his repulsor chair.
"Where is he?"
"Appeared at meeting place, he did not."
"Mace, what could have kept him?"
"I don't know Luke."
Luke turned towards the pond once again and sent out a force
call to Mara. He felt her joy deflate as she turned towards him and
left her newfound friends.
"Lukie? What's wrong?"
"We need to go home Mara."
"Why?"
Luke knelt down beside her even at two she could pick up his
every emotion. "One of my close friends have disappeared. We have to
go away for a little while to be safe."
"Will the evil men come after you? Evil men like my daddy?"
"No, not if we leave." Luke took her in his arms and stood up.
He slowly shook his head slowly. There would be no keeping anything
from her. She knew more than she had any business knowing. She had a
maturity of far beyond her years. Half the time she sounded like she
was fifteen years older than she actually was. It frustrated Luke to
no end.
"Get her out of here Luke. Find Padmé. Tell her to hide all
three of her children. They will be the only rays of hope when this
is over."
"May the Force be with you, Mace."
"And also with you, Luke, my young Padawan."
As Luke left he turned to Yoda. "Do you think Anakin has
turned?"
"Believe is so, I do. Hope for wrong, I do."
They turned as Obi-wan ran up and tripped over a root and
landed between the two masters. He pushed himself up to his feet and
bowed towards both the masters. "Masters! Anakin Skywalker has
turned."
Mace clicked on the comlink, "Luke, be careful. Anakin had
turned."
"Oh Shavit! We're in for it this time!"
"Get to Padmé before Anakin does!"
"I'm on it!"
Luke clicked off his comlink, picked Mara up, and sprinted
towards his speeder. He got her situated and gunned it. It was a race
and the winner would determine the course of the future. If Anakin
reached Padmé first Leia and the twins would be in the hands of the
Empire and the galaxy would be doomed. He had to be sure that it
didn't happen.
When Luke arrived everything was quiet. He hoped that was
because nothing had happened yet. He pulled his lightsaber off his
belt. He pressed against the wall and then walked in. Padmé glanced
up at him with concern on her face at the sight of the expression on
his face. "Luke, what's wrong."
"You need to hide. Anakin has turned."
Padmé left and pulled out four filled suitcases. "Let's go."
Luke took two of the suitcases and put them into the speeder.
He followed suit with the other two. He settled Mara into the back
then returned to the house and came back with the twins Kellan and
Kevan and Leia.
Padmé joined him and he turned as he saw a large military
speeder show up. He ignited his lightsaber and deflected the blaster
bolts that came his way. "Get out of here! I'll hold them off!"
Padmé hurried and got into the driver's seat and unwillingly
left Luke behind.
Luke stood silently with lightsaber brandished. He stood his
ground as a figure in black approached him. The figure stopped right
in front of him.
"Luke Naberrie, where are my children?"
"I don't know. Anakin come back to us and your children will be
with you."
"Anakin Skywalker is dead! I am Darth Vader."
"Well, well Vader. I'm still taller."
Vader stopped in realization that Luke did indeed stood twenty
inches taller than he was.
Luke realized that he had just goaded him into a fight. Luke
knew who was the better swordsman. At least with this he had a chance
to try to talk some sense into Anakin.
Luke took one step back and Vader swung at him. He blocked and
parried. The lightsabers clashed together once again and Luke shoved
and Vader lost his balance as one of the Programmed he knew he had
inhuman speed, strength, stamina, and agility. He had the advantage
and he could end it now. He just had to end Vader's miserable life.
But then he wouldn't become one with the lightside again and even if
Luke let him live would he ever turn back in the future?
Luke's thoughts were halted as pain coursed through his skull.
He looked at Vader to see a remote. His Remote! With his last shred
of freewill he reached out to the force and wiped from his memory. He
sunk to the ground and stood leering over him.
Mace Windu shook his head sadly. He turned to face Yoda. "We
brought Palpatine down but we still lost. Darth Sidious has risen in
power."
"Go into hiding, we must. Lost for now, we have."
"Anakin was not the one but perhaps it is one of his children
is. If Luke reached them in time they will be well hidden. I can feel
him in pain now. This is a dark time. Luke was one of the Programmed
and Vader has found of his existence."
Luke shook his head and tried to draw on the force to ease the
pain in his head. He was a prisoner once again and felt the brooding
presence of his master in his mind. Luke could feel the first
command. KILL THE JEDI!!!
Obi-wan Kenobi knew he had to throw Vader of any trail he may
have had. Distract him somehow. That was why he was standing in front
of one of the Programmers.
"Where we got the DNA for Luke Naberrie? Well we found a man on
the side of the street, dying. He gave us permission to use his DNA
with his last breath asking that he keep his first name. He said
something about being from the future. His name was Skywalker I
think, yeah it was Luke Skywalker."
"Can you make another copy with the DNA but not programmed."
"Yes, for a price."
Obi-wan shoved a bag full of credits at him. "I think this will
be enough."
"Several weeks later it was completed and Obi-wan put the child
in the care of Owen and Beru Lars on Tatooine.
"Master Windu, you should have run."
"Luke, you don't have to do this."
"sorry it's not the darkside it's the programming and I have no
choice." Mace glanced at his former Padawan. He had forsaken his Jedi
robes, probably on Vader's orders.
"I'm sorry Master." Luke said as he pulled a knife out and slit
his former master's throat.
