Hello all you non-existent readers out there! I guess it is hard to have readership considering I never put anything on here anymore.
Here is the reason that nothing changes here anymore, I work seven days a week at two jobs 8 to 12 hours a day! I just can't find the time. I work at Voodoo computers and at Compusmart as a 'puter tech. Keeps me out of trouble!
Voodoo is pretty cool place to work, besides the regular tech things I have to do such as troubleshoot, repair and test customer systems (and put up with their incessant fuckin whining) I get to R & D new hardware. I have been playing with some of the coolest shit out there right now. Benchmarking and tweaking a VIA 266A Mobo, AMD Athlon 1800+ chip and a GeForce 3 Ti 500. Best of all, I never have to pay for any of these parts, I just run 'em, over clock 'em, get 'em hot and record the scores, and oh what scores!! (Who else out there reading this has 9000+ points in 3DMark 2001??)
Compusmart is the regular tech job that I do two days a week, it makes for a really nice balance, Voodoo is all cutting edge and Compusmart keeps me fresh on the old shit so I don't lose touch on what to do with them. It is a strange change... could be working on a system with a 2 GHz P IV, 512 MB RDRAM, 3 - 75 Gig hard drives on a RAID and a GeForce 3 running Windows XP on Friday and on Sunday I could be working on a 486 with 16 Mb RAM, 850 Mb Hard drive and a PCI 512 K Video card running Windows 3.11!!
On the home front, nothing ever gets done around here, seems I just work and sleep! That will change.. I have a big network change planned here, all these loose systems I have piled around me are finally going rack mount. So Dave, if you are reading this, the Terabyte storage is one step closer! I am also dumping Winblows and opting for Unix on the server. So if anyone is interested in a case, I'll have a few up for sale over the next few months.
Well, all this being said, I have to cut this short. This is my first days off in a month and a half and the only reason I took it off is due to the fact a buddy of mine is up from the States. I have to head out and see him.
I leave this post with the promise to update more often, at least once a week. I have yet to address any opinion here regarding Sept 11th, that is coming soon! |
