Just My Opinion!!

This pool is getting shallow, and I think someone may have peed!

Perhaps is is just me but I have been noticing that the human gene pool is well on its way to being the weakest on the planet.  We coddle along everyone, no matter their weakness, sickness, impairment or stupidity so they to are allowed to pass on their less than desirable genes to future generations.  Natural selection has all but been removed from our way of life, no more weeding out the weak and the old.
Most would think this a desirable thing but have a close look at what we are facing in the future.  Planetary over population problems, resource shortages, weaking defenses of the human immune system and negating evolution.  If we give everyone a level playing field, protect the weak then a mutation that can actually help out mankind, make it stronger or progress will not have the opportunity to flourish as it would in a natural "wild" enviroment.  As humans, we depend more and more on man made cures and vaccines that we weaken our own responses.  Where will this lead?  No immune system to speak of?  Total dependancy on man made drugs to fight off the smallest of infections?
How long does a maimed Zebra last on the Serengeti  or a Gazelle with a defect that won't allow it to run properly??  They become lion food.  How about the lion that has a weak leg or diseased?  It will starve to death.  Nature is not as forgiving as our medicine but in the long run the Zebra herd, the Gazelle herd and the lion pride are stronger and more suited to survive.  So I say nature is not cruel, just has an impartial efficiency.
Modern medicine may be a wonder of the modern man, but I believe it may also be the start of our undoing.
