Well shit... I read the reviews before heading out to the theater again. Why the hell do I do that?? I mean, I hardly EVER agree with their dumb ass opinions! I read several saying that this movie was weak. I can't even begin to express how wrong they are!! If by weak they mean there is no "bullet time" or everyone flying around on wires like friggin faries in Hidden Dragon then I like the "weakness"! This was a good story, good acting, good pace and GREAT action. I could watch Jet-Li fight for days, the man is pure energy!
Bridget Fonda did a good job playing the down and out hooker / junkie, a part she must be getting used to now. She was very believiable and tried to develop her character pretty well. There was a lot of chemistry between Jet-Li and Bridget, they worked well together and was a pleasure to watch them.
Tcheky Karyo played a very hateable villian, I enjoyed his expressions and actions. He played a very cold character yet did show a good bit of wit. He helped keep the breakneck pace of some of the chase scenes and you could feel his frustration as the slippery Li avoids him on numerous occasions.
It had it all... great fire fight scenes, if you are at all into fire arms there is no shortage of very nice hardware to appease your eyes and ears. The Kung-Fu was intense, I got winded just watching Jet, he is so quick and calm. I love the fact it was all done in real time, no CGI. Don't get me wrong, CGI has its place and I love it when it is used properly but please, there is no way jumping up and kicking someone in the head 26 times before landing is believable so I don't want to see it.
I love this movie, I recommend it to anyone that enjoys and good action flick. So grab your $12 that you were saving for AI and go see Kiss of the Dragon, rent AI when it is in the 5 day rental section (it stinks!)
