Re: Leisure Time By: Gueinivere |
The wonderful world of computers. Ahhh yes.. Created with aim to increase our working efficiency and decrease our work time. As we have implemented the use of computers as the fundamental base for every business transaction. This has affected every worker all over the world. But that is the key. TIME Time.. the operative word.. With the need and use of computers today.. What would take a week to respond to or do in the 1950's now takes a matter of munites. What we have done is turn the wheel of communications all across the world at a rate 1000 times faster than that of even 20 years ago.. The economy is flying at record pace.. And we as workers simply cannot keep up. It is because of computers and because of the domion effects of the computer that employees are forced to work longer hours and are more stressed out. Everyone's expectations follow suit.. As nobody will wait anymore. They all want it NOW. The effects of this mass explosion in the rate of communication is increasing the demands of work flow to our everyday employees - right now we are only just realizing this. Because we as humans will adjust to this fact. Doctors offices will soon be inundated with the amount of stress leave and carpal tunnel syndrome. The effects are like a wave from a rock dropped in still water. The rock is the computer. The effects are still taking place. And change has yet to come. As workers we are required to use more mental work. Our brains. The computer takes care of the rest. So we come home exhausted. To the point that we cannot make love to our spouses. Our children are being affected by the lack of parental support and divorce rates are ever increasing. Yet one thing for certain. And one thing we can always count on is change. As time progresses. We as the human race will adjust to the effects of the computer on our lives. In order to create that leisure time. More are working from home. More are retiring early and more are involved in work share programs. The change is at the tip of the iceburg. So to leisure time. That is on its way. |
