About the Author. Mr. Timothy Cardinal received his B.S. and M.S. Degrees in Mathematics from the University of Illinois in 1987 and 1991, respectively. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, and has contributed Reviews, Commentaries, and his own works to journals within his field as an actuary. Cardinal founded chess clubs at the University (Illinois) and high school level, the latter of which was nationally ranked 25th two years later. He has won many state and national titles in Mathematics, including the Mythical Math National Championships. Timothy Cardinal and his 21 month-old son are heirs to the drum corps tradition of Mr. Cardinal's father, who marched in the Milwaukee, Wis. and Fitchburg, Mass. area, and attended the first Drum Corps International World Championships in 1972. Timothy Cardinal himself is a veteran of the Guardsmen (1982) and Cavaliers (1986-1987) Drum and Bugle Corps. He resides in Alexandria, Kentucky, a suburb of Cincinnati, and presently serves as Executive Director of the Cincinnati Glory Drum and Bugle Corps of Cincinnati, Ohio.
