This page document my mountain climbing and
contain articles that I use to plan my own group hikes or climbs. I've always
liked to hike and, since I moved to California in 1993, I've had the opportunity
to do more serious winter camping and climbing.
Chronological
Record
of my hikes and camps and climbs. Everything I remember doing that involves
wearing hiking boots.
Climbing Mt. Whitney
, Lone Pine, Califonia, USA. This is the highest point in the continental
US and the climb is a long non-technical hike that can be done in one day.
I have done this climb once in Sep 2004.
Climbing Mt.
Shasta
, Shasta, California, USA. This is one of the highest mountains in continental
US (14162 ft). Basic information about the mountain and my trip reports.
I have been to Mt. Shasta many times, including 3 summits through Avalanche
Gulch and one climb of the North side.
Climbing Mt.
Kinabalu
, Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia. This is the highest mountain (4101 m) between
the Himalaya and New Guinea. Basic information about the mountain and my
trip report (I was the first Brazilian in history to summit it on a Christmas
day).
Climbing Half
Dome
, Yosemite National Park, California, USA. Description and my recommendations
for the challenging one-day climb of the Half Dome boulder, which I have
done a few times.
Camping/Hiking
in Yosemite National Park
, California, USA. Yosemite is one of my favourite places and I have been
there there 2-4 times a year for the past 10 years. These are my recommendations
for first-time visitors.
Climbing Mission
Peak
, Fremont, California, USA. It takes little more of one hour to
climb this hill close to where I live. I was the first Brazilian to climb
it more than a hundred times. Here are some information and stories about
it.
Hiking Jungfraujoch
, Interlaken, Switzerland. This is the mother of the Swiss Alps. I have
not climbed it (I took the train from Interlaken), but hiked a little on
it.
Equipment Checklist
for 3 to 6-day winter expedition. This is my version of a time-tested
list of what goes into the backpack for a non-technical winter climb.
