La prima stesura di And Sound Alone è stata ultimata l'1 Agosto 2002. Il magma di sensazioni più o meno chiare ma estremamente vivide in termini di suoni, colori e nuance che la complessa poesia di Wallace Stevens suscita in me si è innestato sulla mia passione per il mare, per tutto ciò che esso rappresenta in ogni sua forma e manifestazione. Quando ho composto Hare Drummer non sapevo ancora che questi brani avrebbero formato un ciclo (anche per questo Hare Drummer porta il numero 0 all'interno del ciclo Of Shape and Action); solo mentre componevo And Sound Alone e avevo già in fase di progettazione/processazione sia The Dying of the Light che In the Blinded Room, l'idea di un ciclo di lavori (un'idea di ordine...) basati su materiale vocale tratto dalle poesie che più amavo ha iniziato a prendere forma nella mia mente, prima come un trittico quindi come un ciclo aperto che sarà concluso nel momento in cui non sarò più in grado di aggiungervi altri lavori. La spazializzazione varia a seconda della versione, in quella a 8 canali è più dinamica e aggressiva rispetto alla versione per 4 canali. (15 dicembre 2007)
