"Ho composto Song for a drowning flower immediatamente dopo aver terminato la stesura di To walk the night. Volevo fare qualcosa di diverso, pių liquido. L'energia tellurica e ignea di To walk the night lascia spazio in Song for a drowning flower agli elementi aereo e acquatico, sebbene permanga un senso soffocante di calore simile a quello che permea l'aria dopo il passaggio di un incendio: le correnti calde e le piogge,che si trasformano in alluvioni, sommergono tutto, anche i fiori sopravvissuti al fuoco e che magari con esso hanno imparato a dialogare.
