Theme Analysis
The Literary movement that most closely associates itself with R.L. Stine is Magical Realism. “Magical Realism” was named as an actual type of literary movement back in the early, early 1960’s. Magical realism was figuratively founded by Alejo Carpentier, because his novels were unrealistic Like all other types of literary movements, horror has to have type of characterization which classify the piece of work to be considered a type of that type of movement. In novels confusing, unnatural, sinful, scary, and suspenseful aspects have to be inferred in stories. As a result a book of “Magical Realism” movement would born.

What most people do not realize is the fact that other oriented points are indicated in Magical Realism. In other words besides all the different adjectives that describe “horror”, the “Magical Realism” movement has to also have ingredients. Thus, science fiction, and fantasy are the two major ingredients in horror genre. To narrow Magical Realism down a little bit more speculative fantasy is probably the overall bullet in the thought of  horror which makes up everything else inside. Without the mentioned points the scary expectation would not be within the horror genre.

Overall, the most important thing in a  Magical Realism oriented piece would be the characters.  In the Magical Realism literary movement, characters are the pieces that persuade the movement within the horror. For instance, in R.L. Stine’s stories there is always an innocent teen that does something. This something that the teenager does, in the Goosebumps series, is done in reaction to he or she (characters) not being aware of what they are doing. So as mentioned before, characters are obviously one of the most important aspects of the horror literary movement.

As the Magical Realism literary movement progressed new things began to interfere with the basic concepts of the term. An example would be the including of Gothicism, and ghosts. These types of things added more flavor to the idea of unnatural aspects. For instance, they brought more drama which in the long run created an effective plot. These things ultimately lead to the creation of the Goosebumps series.
