Biography

His full name is Marcus Lodewijk Schenkenberg van Mierop.  But the world knows him simply as Marcus Schenkenberg.  He was born on August 04, 1968 in Stockholm, Sweden.

This brown-haired, brown-eyed hunk came to America with a friend in 1988.  With a pit stop in New York City, the pair hitch-hiked their way across the U.S., making their home in Los Angeles, California.  Marcus settled into a routine, walking dogs, and then working as a nanny for two children.  During his first year in California, he did appear in one movie called Meatballs and Macaroni which was released in 1988.  But it wasn't until 1990, while rollerblading on Venice Beach, when photographer Barry King snapped pictures of an unknowing Marcus, that life would changes as he knew it.  Within months, he was on his way to the runways of Paris.  The catwalks prepared him for the superstardom which would soon follow, when Bruce Weber snapped him in the shower with just a pair of Calvin Klein jeans covering his six-two body.

By 1991, Marcus was modelling the spring and fall collections for the likes of Gianni Versace, Donna Karan, Ungaro and Calvin Klein.  His first magazine cover for Bazaar also took place in '91.  He has since appeared in hundreds of haut-couture shows and in magazines ranging from Elle to Vogue Italia.

This handsome hunk earns over a million dollars a year.  Besides modelling, Marcus also published his first book "New Rules" and devotes much of his time to charity work.  During 1998/1999 he was in the television series Modern Talking.  In 1999, As the World Turns snapped him up and Marcus portrayed the character Max up until 2000.  He has also appeared in the following movies:  Prince Valiant (1997), Hostage (1999) and Dinner Rush (2000).

Besides keeping his schedule tied up with hitting the gym six days a week, modelling, acting and volunteer work, his love-life is just as busy.  The Swedish babe has been linked with model Kylie Bax.  He then dated Hilton heiress Nicky Hilton.  At a bash in March 2002, according to the Sunday Times, he asked if he could be introduced to Monica Lewinsky.  He was then seen dancing the night away with Britney Spears at a New York club in April of 2002.  In 1998, he also escorted songbird Mariah Carey to a party but was snubbed by the diva when she chose to pay more attention to her former beau Derek Jetter (hmm, she must have been the only gal to ever wanna ignore someone as gorgeous as Marcus).  But most talked-about was his eight month romance back in 2000 with VIP and former Baywatch babe Pamela Anderson. 

When it's time to relax, Marcus likes to retire to his loft apartment in Manhattan, New York City or he'll fly home to Sweden and visit his family.  He is a video game buff and likes to chill with fellow model and good friend, Joel West.
