What Goes Around. Author:suzyh Disclaimer:I don't own the characters, if I did they would have been treated better. Only Eve is mine. "Bobby, wait up." Eve panted as she chased after his retreating back. Bobby stopped and waited for her to catch up. "Something I can do you for Evie?" Bobby raised an eyebrow and gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. Eve blushed and looked about. "Bobby! Someone might see, just because the Official knows about us doesn't mean we can flaunt it." Bobby smirked. "That didn't bother you when we were alone in your lair Delilah." Eve grinned and swatted his hand away. "I need a ride to city hall, I have to drop some stuff off and there's too much to carry." "Sure Angel. I'll grab Fawkes and I'll meet you at Golda." Bobby watched her race back towards her desk, admiring the view. Eve was dressed in a short flowing summer dress and her feet were in small flat white shoes. Bobby grinned lecherously, she looked so sexy today, Bobby felt an urge to take Eve and lock both himself and her in the archives for a good two hours. Chuckling to himself, he went in search of his partner. Darien was in the middle of a lecture from Claire. "Darien, I've told you this, don't keep using your quicksilver. Counteragent is very expensive." "It was only a few tricks. Eve has never seen the one with the tongue before." Claire screwed up her face as Darien gave a demonstration. "Oh god. Darien, that's disgusting." Fawkes grinned and waggled his eyebrows. Claire waved the needle right in his face. "Right. This is the last one you're getting unless it's urgent. How long have you had the gland? You know the risks and I'm not wasting my breath by repeating them. Clear?" "Crystal." Darien held out his arm obediently and released his breath slowly as the liquid flowed into his system. Bobby charged into the keep thus saving him from any further scolding. "Tick tock, Fawkes. Let's go, bad people to catch. We have to drop Evie off first so lets make some time." "Evie's coming? Cool. Hey maybe she'd like to see my tongue trick." Darien looked pointedly at Claire. Claire narrowed her eyes in annoyance. Bobby shook his head, "Keep your tongue where it belongs my friend. Now get your skinny butt out of that chair and get moving." Darien gave a mock salute and sauntered past his Keeper trying not to laugh at her outraged expression. Chapter Two. "Bobby, city hall is the other way." Eve pointed out. "I know, I just gotta check something out first, it'll take a few minutes." Eve sighed and didn't argue. She turned to Darien. "Your hair looks good today, changed something?" "Conditioner. I'm trying that new one advertised. It really gives volume." Darien ran his hand through it. "Really? I tried that, it just made my hair limp." Eve eyed Darien's masterpiece. "I can never get my hair that full. It's so unfair." Darien grinned. "Rinse and rinse again. I never leave the shower until my hair squeaks." "Which is why you never get into work on time." Bobby's voice was sarcastic. Eve patted Bobby's arm. "Never mind darling. You more than make up for your quick showers in other departments." Darien snorted with laughter. Bobby grinned and Eve settled back for the ride. They pulled up outside a lovely old house on a quiet street. Darien peered up at it. "Wow, can Pugsley come out to play?" "Alright. Fawkes? Do your thing. That house contains some major hardware." "Umm, Bobby? I have to get to city hall...." Eve waved her hand at him. Darien squinted at the gates. "There's no way I'm getting in there pal. The security's tighter than the fatman's wallet." Bobby considered this. Fawkes was right, they needed a plan. His eye fell on an old For Sale board outside and he looked at Eve. ************ "This will not work." Eve said as they stood at the gates. "My ideas always work, I'm gifted." Bobby watched as a man approached. Eve was held tightly by Bobby's arm around her. She couldn't believe what she was about to do. "Can I help you?" The tall man enquired. Bobby plastered a smile onto his face. "Yes, we were passing and my wife saw the sign. I'm afraid she's fallen in love with the house. I don't suppose we could have a look round is there?" The man looked at Eve who gave a nervous smile. "I'm sorry, this house isn't for sale." Eve glanced at Bobby. She bit her lip and started to cry. "Oh, it's so perfect, what will we do? It's the only one that speaks to me." Bobby cuddled her up and rubbed her back. "Ssh, it's okay. Don't get upset it's not good for the baby. We'll find somewhere, don't worry." "But if they're not selling why do they still have a board up? It's so unfair. It's false advertising." Eve sobbed into his chest and the man hesitated. "Give me a second." He got on his mobile and started talking into it. "Great move angel. Where did you learn to cry like that?" Bobby was impressed. Eve giggled into his jacket. "I've watched ET so many times. I only have to think of the goodbye scene." Bobby struggled to keep a straight face as the man returned. "The owner will see you for ten minutes. Only so your wife can see the house." Eve sniffed and turned tearfilled eyes upwards. "Thank you. You're a sweet man." The man blushed and shuffled his feet. Bobby held Eve's hand and they followed the guard up to the house with Darien hot on their heels. He was laughing to himself. Who knew that Eve could be so sneaky? Definitely a plus as far as Darien was concerned and if Bobby looked any prouder of her he'd burst. The front door opened and a small elderly lady stood in the doorway. "Welcome, come in, I'm afraid I wasn't expecting visitors but I understand you thought the house was for sale?" "Yes. It's beautiful. Our baby would love it here." Eve answered before Bobby could. The lady nodded. "Well, I can only offer you a look I'm afraid, Just to satisfy your curiousity and to stop you suing for false advertising." They all laughed and went inside. Darien just managed to sneak in before the door slammed. Chapter Three. Bobby and Eve were ushered into the living room. It was big and grand but covered in dust. "As you can see, I haven't used this room in a while. Let me show you the kitchen it so much more friendly." The lady indicated to the hallway. Darien crept up the stairs. He was following a guard who looked like he knew where he was going. He found himself in a large room with lots of crates. He watched as the guard opened one and start to catalogue what was inside. Another man came in. "Leave that until they've gone. Lily wants you to check that the buyer still wants what we got." Darien couldn't believe it, Lily was as old as his grandmother. Satisfied he had seen enough, Darien went back down the stairs toward the kitchen. "So, when is the baby due?" Lily smiled at the couple. Bobby patted Eve's stomach. "Another five months and Robert junior will be here." "So it's a boy?" Lily looked at Eve. "Well, we don't know, but Bobby seems convinced. Personally, I think it's a girl. " "You seem to be carrying small my dear. When I had my sons I looked like nothing on earth." "Umm, OOOH." Eve jumped out of her skin as she felt a cold hand on her neck. Bobby looked concerned. "What's wrong?" "Oh, just the baby moving, still haven't gotten used to it. Darling? I think we've taken up too much of Lily's time. Let's leave her in peace. Now Lily, be sure to contact me if you ever sell this place." Eve handed her a bit of paper with a number on it. Bobby took the hint and started moving to the exit. "Good luck with the baby. Nice to have met you." Lily watched as the couple walked away. "Follow them." she said to her son who was hovering behind her shoulder. "I'm not sure about her, but he is government. Find out what's going on." "Evie, I'm impressed. Where did you learn to lie like that." Darien was full of admiration for the small woman. Eve shrugged. "I used to act at school. My teacher said I could have been a great dramatic actress." Bobby laughed. "You were great, better than great. That crying thing was inspired. What number did you leave her anyway?" "Hmm? Oh, some number I made up. Bobby? I hate to bring this up but I need to get to city hall now." Eve looked at her watch. "Okay Evie. Lets go. Fawkes? Fill me in on the way." They all piled into Golda and drove off. Darien relayed what he saw. Eve was gobsmacked. "But, she was such a sweet woman. How can she be a gun runner? She looked like she baked cookies and stuff." "Angel, there's no age limit on these things, she's probably done it since she could walk." Bobby frowned and looked in the side mirror again. The blue car was still behind them. Instantly alert, Bobby took a sharp left at the next set of lights. Eve yelped and clung to Darien's arm. "Easy Bobby. Where are you going now?" "Yeah Hobbes, it's a bit late to be taking the scenic route." ""Dammit!" Bobby swore as the blue car was still there. "Okay people. Lily must have been suspicious. Hold tight." He hit the gas and willed Golda to perform well. Darien and Eve were thrown about as Bobby tried to outmanoever the car. Shots were fired and Golda swerved as one tyre burst. Bobby controlled the skid and shut off the engine. "OUT! Now!" Bobby pulled Eve out his door and Darien scrambled out his side. They ran to a side alley and ducked down behind some dumpsters. "Bobby, lets go out into the open. Surely they wouldn't try anything with other people around?" Eve was huddled up behind him. "Can't take the risk. Too many innocent people to think of." Bobby said. Eve was trying to come up with an answer when gunfire started again. She covered her ears and curled up in a ball. " Okay Hobbesy, want me to see if I can level the field?" Darien peeped over the top of the dumpster and ducked down quickly again. "Be careful Fawkes, I don't want to take you back damaged." Darien nodded and disappeared. Bobby gave Eve his second gun that was strapped to his leg. "Okay, this is a gun. Take it and when I say, cover me." "WHAT?" Eve's mouth dropped open. "Are you insane? Bobby? I have two rules in life. One, I don't play the lottery and Two, I don't shoot people." "I can't let Fawkes go alone, he's my partner. You'll be fine, just keep your head down and try to shoot straight." "But, but...." Eve watched as Bobby rolled to the other side of the alley firing as he went. Two goons went down as an invisible force punched them out. That left another two, Darien attacked one but over balanced and fell over his feet. He reappeared and managed to knock the guy out before he got shot. "Okay, Evie? Cover me." Bobby came out of hiding and ran up the alley. Darien took cover as Lily's son fired at the agent coming toward him. Suddenly, the mobster flew back and was still. Darien and Bobby inspected the body, he had been shot between the eyes. A perfect hit. They turned round. Eve was standing in the middle of the alley still pointing the gun. Bobby gently removed it from her grasp. Eve opened her mouth to say something but passed out instead. Bobby caught her as she fell, silently wondering how the hell she had pulled off a shot like that. Chapter Four. Eve was sitting on the floor throwing up. The fact that she had killed someone had filled her with horror. Her body shook as she went into shock. Bobby smoothed her hair from her face. "I thought you didn't shoot people? " he said gently. Eve shook her head and threw up again. Darien watched as the body was taken away. "How are we gonna explain this Hobbes? Eve hasn't got the clearance to carry or shoot a gun." "I'll take care of it. Evie? Can you walk?" Bobby wiped her mouth and helped her up. "Come on, lets get Claire to take a look at you." Back at the keep, Eve huddled in the counteragent chair. Claire bent down in front of her. "Eve? Do you remember what happened?" "Umm, not really. One minute I was thinking that Bobby was insane, then I was standing shooting someone." "You've never held a gun before?" Claire flicked a light into Eve's eyes. Eve shook her head and bit her lip. Claire frowned and checked her tattoo. The flowers were turning purple at a rapid rate. "Oh bum!" Claire shot to the fridge and gave Eve another poly shot. "Hey, what's that for? She just had one a week ago." Bobby started to get protective. Claire calmed him down. "I think Suki made the kill. Well, her skills anyway. Eve has all Suki's skills imprinted on her memory. Eve's emotion is running high and the fear probably triggered the marksman skill. " "So why the shot now?" Bobby tried to understand. "She's going into shock, that combined with earlier makes her situation volatile. By giving her the shot I can keep Miss O'Hara at bay." Their discussion was interrupted by Eve being sick again. This time over Darien's shoes. Darien wrinkled his nose and patted her back. "Sorry." gasped Eve when she was done. "That's okay. They weren't my favourites anyway." Darien said. Bobby looked grim. "I think it's time we stopped Lily. Fawkes? You saw enough to get a warrant right?" "Absolutely. Just let me change my shoes first. I hate to squelch as I walk." Eve smiled at Bobby weakly. "Be careful. I'll stay here and throw up some more." Bobby kissed her head and motioned for Darien to follow him. Chapter Five When Bobby, Darien and the swarm of agents arrived at the house it was deserted. There was no sign of Lily, the guns or anything else. All there was was a lot of dust and some heavy duty tyre tracks imbedded in the tarmac. Bobby swore as he stalked around the house snapping orders at everyone. Darien leaned against the fireplace with his hands in his pockets. Bobby glared at him. "Fawkes, this is not good. The fatman is gonna have my head for this." "Bobby, these things happen, Lily obviously decided to play safe and move out." Hobbes shook his head and gestured his impatience. Darien clapped him on the back. "Come on, lets get back to the range. There's nothing we can do here." Bobby sighed and nodded. They walked back to their borrowed car discussing the day's events. "I'm telling ya Bobby, I never knew that a woman of Eve's size would have so much to puke up." "She had a big breakfast. Besides, it was her first kill, she's bound to be a bit puke happy." Lily watched from the house opposite. Her mouth was in a firm line and she looked at the picture of her now dead son. She put the receiver back up to her ear. "Mr Stark. I assume our deal is still good? Excellent. Now, Give me all the information you have on Agents Hobbes and Fawkes. They are going to pay for what they have done." She listened to the reply, absently dusting the frame in her hands. " Fine. Send it to the usual Email address. Oh yes, leave it to me Jarod, The Agency will rue the day they messed with my family. What goes around comes around." Lily replaced the phone into it's cradle. Agents were beginning house to house enquiries. She smoothed her apron, picked up some cookies that were on the table and went to open the door, a bright smile on her face. She needed time for what she had in mind, she glanced up at a tapestry that had her favourite motto on it and smiled even wider. The end?
