Perch Search Home Page | Precautionary Measures | Seeking a New Home for a Bird

Do you have a companion bird who needs a new home? Are you looking for a bird friend? Perhaps Perch Search can help.

Please read this entire web page before deciding to participate. Understand that Perch Search is provided as a community service to facilitate private adoptions and does NOT screen birds or potential adopters. It is your responsibility to do your own screening and make your own decisions.

Some community entities may assist Perch Search in various ways, such as by making forms available, but they are in no way affiliated with or responsible for the Perch Search program. None of these entities does any screening in any circumstances.

CONSIDERING ADOPTING A BIRD?

Birds can make wonderful companions when matched to the right people. Please remember, though, that caring for a bird is not only a challenge but often a lifelong commitment. To minimize the risk that you will regret choosing a bird, you must take one of our classes in "bird basics" before you will be given contact information for the owners of an available bird. Topics include:

Are you prepared to live with a feathered friend?
Feathered friend or feathered fiend?
Choosing a bird -- so many species, so many individuals
Avoiding a deadly diet
Avian vet care-budget for this necessity
Building trust

If you are interested in attending a class, please e-mail marduckbud@lycos.com with "Perch Search" in the subject line.
