Upon graduation Secretary Walker will assign you to the command of a brigade in one of the divisions. The first message that you will receive from Richmond will be your assignment. You will graduate from the VMI with the rank and responsibilities of brigadier general in command of a brigade in the Army of the Northern Virginia.
Shortly after you have graduated from the VMI the War Department will send to you an Order of Battle containing the regiments and possibly an artillery battery for you to command.
