Welcome to my McClennon-Bearden Page

Minerva McClennon born 1836 AL died between 1910-1920 OK., parents were Mary McClennon-Bearden and Mr. McClennon.  Married William Roden Oct 14 1851 Marshall Co., AL., born 1835 SC.,  died Scott Co., AR between 1873 and 1880. Parents were John F Roden born 1816 SC and Mrs. Roden.

1850 Marshall Co., AL Census shows Minerva McClennon in the home of her Mother, Mary and husband John Bearden.

John Bearden born abt 1813 AL (note; 1860 Census shows both John Bearden and Mary McClennon-Bearden born in Tenn).
Mary  (McClennon) Bearden born abt 1813 AL

Children for John Bearden and Mary McClennon-Bearden;
Nancy Lane Bearden born abt 1835 AL; Ancil Bearden born abt 1839 AL; Ann Y Bearden born abt 1841 AL; Liza E Bearden born abt 1843 AL;  John Thomas Bearden born 1847 AL;  Marrison Bearden born abt 1849 AL;  Joseph Bearden born abt 1856 AL; James L Bearden born abt 1859 AL; Nancy McClennon born abt 1838 AL and Minerva McClennon born abt 1836 AL.

Source;  1850 and 1860 Marshall Co., AL Census, marriage records.
Note;  Minerva and Nancy are the only two children in the household of John and Mary Bearden by the name of McClennon.  By looking at the age of the children in the household, it looks like Mr. McClennon must have died or left the McClennon household abt 1840 and Mary McClennon married John Bearden. John Bearden already had children in his household (by the children's age) before he married Mary McClennon.  I have no proof of this yet.
Minerva McClennon married William Roden in 1851, then showed up in Scott Co., AR., 1860 Census with her husband, William Roden "aka" Rodes, first child, Martha Rodes born abt 1857 in AL., and sister in law, Caroline Roden "aka" Caroline Rodes.
The surname Roden changed to Rodes in 1860 AR., which made it difficult to trace the Family name back to AL., until I found the marriage record on William Roden and Minerva McClennon.
Surname for Rodes changed again in the Logan Co., AR 1880 Census to Rhodes after William Roden, "aka" Rodes was no longer in the home.  The spelling on some documents is Roads, Rodes, Rhoades and Rhodes.
In 1880 Logan Co., AR., Minerva Rhodes and all of her children but Nancy Rodes-Allen (who had married on 11/1876), was in the household of William McCray and Martha Rodes-McCray, Minerva's daughter and son in law.
1900 Scott Co., AR., and 1910 McCurtain Co., OK., Minerva McClennon-Roden, ("aka" Rodes "aka" Rhodes),  was living with her daughter, Emaline Rodes-Webb and son in law, James Webb.

I have found a marriage record in St. Clair AL., Thomas Brother married Nancy McClennon.  I am in the process of ordering this record.  It could be our Nancy McClennon.
There are other Bearden's and McClennon's in Marshall Co., AL 1850, 1860 and 1870.  I am sure some of them are part of the family.
I am still actively searching this family.

If there is anyone who has information on the McClennon or Beardens, an e-mail would be appreciated.
