| Our second child arrived after 4 hours of labor! My contractions began at 4:30am and I held on for 2 hours before telling Hedim that it was time. When we arrived at the hospital, I was already 5 cm dilated...which made me really nervous, since I wanted an epidural. They placed us in the birthing room and we waited almost an hour before someone started my IV. The nurses were very sympathetic, because I was getting scared of giving birth w/out an epidural. Well...after I had my IV in place, I was given some medication to dull the pain from my contractions. I was surprisingly calm compared to my first delivery...I was determined to push until he was out. Once the baby's head was out, he started crying! I felt like laughing, but I was still in so much pain. At 8:37am, we welcomed our son...Hedim the 3rd (we now call him Xavier). The pain stopped after he was out. I think I'll opt not to have an epidural next time...I wasn't drowsy or tired...I was so alert and able to enjoy our new son. Xavier was so perfect when he arrived...he scored 10 out of 10 on his Apgar! | ||||||||||||||||||
