Supported by musical parents in Thessaloniki (Greece), Maria-Margarita Kourtparasidou began playing the piano at the age of six, before later taking up percussion. In 1999 she won the Panhellenic Percussion Competition for school pupils, and completed her studies at the Thessaloniki State Conservatoire in 2000. In the same year, she was offered a grant to study in Berklee School of Music in Boston. In January 2005, she completed her Performance Diploma at the Hochschule fuer Musik Detmold (Germany) and in February 2006 she completed her Chamber Music Diploma at the same school. Last year she succeeded in the Master Degree with cum laude at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, while she is the first Greek percussionists who owns a Master Degree. Maria-Margarita Kourtparasidou is solo-Timpanist at the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, is member of the Nederlands Blazers Ensemble has gained work experience at the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie.
