Walter was born in Novice, Coleman County, Texas on December 08, 1913. As a boy of 15, he rode in a "barn-stormer" biplane. This ride initiated his hobby of carving small wooden airplans (and later helicopters and jets). As an adult, he loved to grow roses of all types, expecially yellow roses. He also refurbished old, discarded bicycles and gave them away to needy children. He provided over 300 to a local orphanage. |
When he was buried, his coffin was arrayed with a floral arrangement of yellow roses over a thick green bed of foliage. In the center of the arrangement was a deep red rose, signifying his deep love for his wife, Ruth Louise Bourgeois Bull. Intertwined into the green foliage and yellow roses were many of his hand carved airplanes... |
