The Bibliotheke Garden

Xaire and Welcome to the Bibliotheke Garden.

Here you can read a scroll or just rest by the pool.

Or, you can mingle amongst statues and artwork of deities associated with learning.

The statues include gods associated with learning, such as Athena, Greek goddess of wisdom, Nabu, the Assyrian god of writing, the Thoth, the Egyptian god of learning, Seshat, the Egyptian goddess of writing, Moneta, the Roman goddess of memory, and the Greek Muses.

We also have statues and decorated pottery with illustrations of noted writers and thinkers, such as the poets Sappho, Corinna, Hesiod, and Pindar, playwrights like Aeschylus, Sophocles, Euripides, Agathon, Aristophanes, and Menander. Some of our more unusual sculptures include those of famous librarians and founders of major libraries, such as the early Babylonian librarian Amit Anu, the Egyptian Amen-em-haut, and Demetrius of Phalerum, who founded the main library at Alexandria, and Callimachus of Cyrene, the great cataloger.
