Aristophanes lived from about 450 to 385 B.C. His comedies are considered to be in the Old Comedy style. The plays rely on myths and the absurdities of daily life. Some of his works are satires of the political abuses of self-important politicians. His plays include Lysistrata, The Birds, The Clouds, The Frogs, The Wasps, and Peace.
