After having two daughters I was blessed with my first son, Robert, and we called him Robby until as a young man he became Rob. He learned to walk and talk early and I always teased him that once he learned to talk he never shut up again. Robert was always adventuresome, always wanting to learn new things. As an adolescent he preferred going to work with his Dad during the summer rather than just stay at home and play. At age twenty, Robert became the father of a precious little girl named Angela, but she was always his little Angel. At 35 he became the very proud father of a son, Travis, and had so much fun being a daddy again. But he didn't get to watch his son grow up or see his 2 grandchildren. Rob died from complications from diabetes and kidney failure when Travis was just one year old. We learned that he had diabetes following an accident when he was twelve. He was a brittle diabetic, in and out of the hospital numerous times when it got out of control. By the time he was twenty he was legally blind and had to have several laser surgeries on his eyes. As the years went by he had many ulcers on his feet and had some toes amputated because of bone infections. Then, his kidneys started to fail and he was put on a transplant list but couldn't get it soon enough. He started to have mini-strokes and congestive heart failure and one week after his 36th birthday he had a final heart attack. Rob was a very giving and loving person and had many friends. We all miss him and hold him close in our hearts. Momma and God will always love you, Rob. |
