Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets

The Heir of Slytherin

In Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the students are sorted into four houses based on their personality. The loyal and just go to Hufflepuff, The brave and true go to Gryffindor, the wise and intelectual go Ravenclaw, the ambitious and determined go to Slytherin. The four houses are named after the four founders of the school, who each valued those qualities associated with their house. Voldemort himself was a slytherin. All dark wizards come from slytherin. One year ago, when Harry was to be sorted, the last place he wanted was slytherin, the sorting hat almost put him there, untill harry pleaded against it. This year, The Chamber of Secrets, a well hidden lair made by founder Salazar Slytherin, has been opened. A deadly beast that dwells in this chamber is prowling school, attacking those students who are not from purely magical families. Harry questions his placement in Gryffindor as he learns some eerie similarities between himself and Voldemort. Dumbledore assures him, however, that one's character is determined by not their abilities, but by their choices.

He is also told shocking truths behind the murder of his parents. They were betrayed by their best friend, this is common knowlege. But out of a small circle of close friends of Lily and James Potter, it's not the friend you'd think. Expect a twist ending no one could see coming!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

"We are only as strong as we are united"

This year Hogwarts is hosting students from two foreign schools, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang to hold a legendary Triatholon competition. Each school get's one competitor. For safety, the minimum age to compete is 17. All respective students put their name in a small goblet filled with blue flames. However, 14 year old Harry, who hadn't even attempted to enter his hame, is chosen as Hogwarts's school competitor. Is it a fluke, or a deadly plan? Now Harry must compete in the three tornament tasks, all the while wondering how his name was put into the goblet, and if it was no accident, who put it there. Cooperation and unity, both within the community and on a global scale is a large theme in this book, both with the interaction of the three schools and with the events ending the book, but you'll have to read it to find out. . . (or go down to the next paragraph, whatever).

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Neither can live while the other survives

After 14 years of living an incapacitated half life as more or less vapor, Voldemort is finally restored to his body and is on his way back to power at the end of Harry's 4th year at Hogwarts (June of 1995). However, he is not attracting attention to himself. Only Harry has seen him. The Ministry of Magic (the magical government), does not want to aknowlege that Voldemort is at large. They become very meddlesome and agressive towards Harry and Dumbledore. They pull rank and rule hogwarts with an iron fist and use the media to discredit Harry's name. Only Albus Dumbledore believes Harry. Dumbledore re-establishes The Order Of The Pheonix, an organization of wizards in league against Voldemort. This team of wizards is working to find out what Voldemort's planning, and to prevent his second rise to power. Harry's connection to voldemort grows stronger as Voldemort grows stronger. In the end, Harry finally learns why Voldemort tried to kill him, nearly 15 years ago.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Voldemort; Past, Present and Future

Things become very intense for Harry as he enters his sixth year at Hogwarts school. Death Eaters (voldemort followers), and dementors are rampaging and terrorizing England. The new Minister of Magic is trying to get Harry to cooperate with the ministry and convince the public that they are advancing in what is now full blow wizard war, which, after the way the Ministry treated Harry last year, is not taken kindly by Harry. Meanwhile Harry is now taking private lessons from Dumbledore, studying Voldemort's past, in hopes to better understand his motives, in order to stop his rise from power. Harry and Dumbledore together make crucial breakthroughs in what needs to be done in order to "vanquish the dark lord" once and for all. Harry seems to truly mature into a powerful adult wizard in this book. Expect yet another spectacular twist ending! However all is not bleak for The Chosen One, expect some very exciting romantic developments. . . . and NO it's not Hermione!
Harry Potter and the . . . .?

So What's Next For The Boy Who Lives?

Supposedly, Harry will now be focusing entirely on defeating Voldemort. It is too soon for any facts to have been released and confirmed, we can have fun speculating!

Running tab of questions For Jo Rowling:
NOTE: knowing that she is really cryptic and secretive, only questions that I imagine she might actually answer make this list
  1. Did Quirrel ever go into the Chamber of Secrets? Did he have anything to do with setting up the opening of the Chamber?
  2. Where did Riddle leave his diary? How did it get to Mr Malfoy?
  3. Is Ludo Bagman the deatheater who Voldemort mentions as having left forever?
  4. Should we be wondering about Bagman's absense in Order of the Pheonix and Half Blood Prince?
  5. We have a shockingly detailed account of the attack on the Potters considering none of the people we've heard from were actually there. How much can we trust this version of the events? How are the events known?
  6. How does it work out that there are about 1,000 students attending Hogwarts? That comes out to about 143 kids per year, which then divides into about 35 kids per house. How is that possibe when we only see about 10 Gryffindors in Harry's year?
  7. What is "Draco Dormiens Nunquam Titillandus" all about? Are you speaking Metaphorically? Is it a clue to something?
  8. The imfamous Avada Kadavra curse that Harry survived did not come out of Voldemort's wand during Priori Encantatem. Did you intentionally leave it out or was it an oversight
  9. Can you tell us anything about some of the spells/enchantments protecting the castle from invasion?
  10. When did dumbledore figure out the various secrets of the DADA professors (Quirrel, Lockhart, and Moody specifically)? How is it that he, who is so perceptive and aware, could be so wrong when it comes to that staff position?
  11. The Dursleys tell people that Harry goes to St. Brutus's, but what do other muggle families tell people? Are they advised at how to handle that?
  12. Pansy, Lily, Petunia, Myrtle, Lavender, Fleur, Poppy. Is there some sort of flower theme we should be watching out for, or is this all just coincidence?
  13. We are told that nobody knows what a boggart looks like, because it always changes into the form of the viewer's worst fear. Yet it can't change if it doesn't see you, so when Moody saw the boggart in the desk drawer at Grimauld place, what exactly did Moody see?
  14. I know that he is dead, but is there more to Dumbledore's death than meets the eye?
*Large credit for this compilation of questions is owed to Mugglenet's editorial section and the livejournal community hptheories, as most of these questions were raised originally by brilliant participants of those two venues, I record them down as I see them!
