Narcissus was born 1817 in Preston Co., WV. She died 11 Nov 1839 in Ritchie Co., WV. There is a homemade tombstone at the Gladesville Cemetery, Preston Co. WV, which reads: 'To the memory of the wife of Samuel Rogrs (misspelled).' The year was hard to make out. It was beside the tombstone of Rachel Gandy who was Narcissus' maternal grandmother

Samuel also married (2) Jane SHANNON. Samuel and Jane lived at Independence, Preston Co., WV. Samuel owned the store there at the depot on the north side of the B&O Railroad. In 1860 John Ayers, age 29, lived with them. John was the postmaster. After living there several years Samuel sold his property and moved to Missouri. He came back once to visit his relatives in West Virginia
