Steve Cradock gave his Chairman's report. He explained the accusations and hassle the committee and Donna, the manageress of Riley's, had endured the last year. Threats of Solicitors, Newspapers, The Welsh Sports Council and the Welsh Pool Association for leaving our previous venue, brought about mostly by two people that most of you will know. Not only did they try to undermine us to Riley's head office by telling them Jon Crook runs the league and the rest of us are YES men, but they are trying to bring us all down. They have now tried reporting Donna, Riley's Manageress, to Riley's head office for improper dealings with us, and have threatened Riley's with the newspaper trick as well. He said these 2 fools concerned have been banned from C & DPL for a few months now, and have been banned from both Riley's in Cardiff for their trouble. (By Riley's).
In return for the amount of business Riley's has been undertaking from C&DPL within the last year, they will be giving us an additional £500 this year, thus making our total sponsorship for 2005 - 2006 £1500, along with teams playing from Riley's having their entry fees paid, free tables and free food on match nights, I think you will agree this has been a benefit to all.
We are trying our utmost to improve things and in conjunction with Riley's, bring the league forward to bigger and better things, but as you will agree, if somebody is giving you grief you cannot focus on the important matters as you should.
We feel we have been doing a good job, securing sponsorship, an excellent venue for the foreseeable future, and with the bi-directional support of Riley's and C&DPL could make us one of the biggest and best leagues in the country.
Each and every one of us on the committee has input into every decision, despite the grapevine, and I am happy with this present committee, so would like you to give us your support by voting us back en bloc.
John Crook then gave his Secretarys report, he said he agreed with everything Steve had said and regarding the accusations, one of them was that he and Donna had shared the £1000 between themselves. If this is the case then where did the prize money come from for the last 3 sets of comps which is over £1000?
The £500 sponsorship we received from Leadgen is being given to the last 4 in the summer knockout.
He also said that in his 30 years involvement with the league, this is the best committee he has known and the league is run far better than ever before.
A proposal from B. Beese that teams not paying their £5 fine for non attendance be stopped the 2 bonus points was carried. These points will not be added once the fine is paid.
Another proposal by B.Beese that instead of being able to claim a match at 8pm if the opposing team is not present, a frame can be claimed for every 10 minutes they are late. This was rejected.
Donna Stimpson, Riley's manageress, spoke regarding the false accusations she was reported to head office for. She explained that a man was sent down from Milton Keynes to investigate and was given all of C&DPL's minutes and accounts etc and all were in perfect order. The people that made these accusations are banned from Riley's and the representative from head office agreed after meeting with the committee and then the people concerned the next day, with Donna's banning them. Anyone that is banned from C&DPL is automatically banned from Riley's. Donna said that obviously they are banned for causing trouble and Riley's do not want trouble makers in their clubs. If there are any complaints concerning C&DPL , they should be put in writing to the committee and the mud slinging should stop.
