| It's the dawning of a new day for the professional folkloric music ensemble based in Kansas City since 1991. The June 1st, 2004 rising of Marimba Sol de Chiapas is the evolution of the group started by Laurence Kaptain in 1988 as Marimba Yajalón. Committed to the authentic performance practice and spirit of the marimba heard throughout Mesoamerica, Marimba Sol de Chiapas now continues the tradition of excellence established by Marimba Yajalón's sixteen-year history of accomplishments including a feature on National Public Radio's Morning Edition, a cameo appearance on ABC's Good Morning America, performances at three International Festivals of the Marimba, several Compact Disc releases, and numerous tours of Mexico as guests of the Mexican Government. |

| The Musics of Mexico is a unique and engaging 45-minute multi-media presentation incorporating prerecorded music, a dazzling slide show, and audience interaction with live musical performances that takes all those in attendance on a virtual tour of four of Mexico's best-known regional musical styles.
