The rest of the trip to Naboo passed quickly and uneventfully.  The captain and her copilot allowed the Jedi to be present in the cockpit as the Lucky Chance reverted to realspace.  Almost immediately the beautiful emerald planet of Naboo came into sight.

The captain turned and glanced back at the Jedi.  “We’re undetected by the Mandolorians at the moment.  Where would you like us to land?”

“How close can you get to Theed?” Obi-Wan asked, reflecting that he did not want to return to the Gungan city of Otoh Gunga.

Captain Vené checked her scopes before replying.  “I can get us to the outskirts of Theed safely.  After that, I’m afraid you’re on your own.”

“That won’t be a problem,” Anakin muttered confidently.  Obi-Wan shot his apprentice a look, then told Captain Vené, “That’ll do.”

The captain nodded, and shifted her attention back to her flying.

“So, what is your plan, Jedi Kenobi?” Jedi Qwin spoke up.

Obi-Wan was surprised that she asked him for his opinion, but quickly stated it.  “We simply need to sneak through Theed towards the palace as quickly as possible.  We can sneak in through the main hangar and make our way to the main audience chamber.”

“Wow, sounds easy,” she commented sarcastically.

“That’s our goal,” he shot back with a smirk.

“In other words, keep my sabre close to hand.”

“I could say that, but it’s not as much fun.”

“Yeah, and you seem like such a party boy.”

“Jedi Kenobi, Jedi Qwin—we’re coming up on landing point, if you want to get ready to leave,” Captain Vené interjected.

“Thank you, Captain,” Jedi Qwin said graciously, a sudden switch from her sarcastic tones of a moment before.  “We really do appreciate all that you’ve done.  We hope that someday we’ll meet again.”

//We do?// Anakin questioned Obi-Wan.

//Hush, Padawan.  Let the women talk.//

//Oh, great.  Just like that mission to escort Senator what’s-her-face.  How long were we waiting, Master?  Two hours?//

Obi-Wan smirked.  //Patience, my young Padawan.//

Anakin rolled his eyes, but remained silent.  Amazingly enough, in another minute Jedi Qwin stood up from her seat, ready to leave.  Obi-Wan and Anakin accompanied her to the ramp just as the ship set down with a light bump.  The ramp went down, and they were out of the ship onto the emerald planet of Naboo.

The aesthetically-pleasing streets of the city of Theed were eerily devoid of life.  Even with the effort to walk stealthily, the slight clack of boots hitting the stone of the street could still be heard.  The sound was easily traced to three dark-cloaked figures in the shadows.  The middle-sized figure led the way down the street.  The figures side-slipped their way through the shadows until the great palace of Theed came into view.  That was when the first evidence of other life on the planet became apparent.

Three Mandolorian Warriors were lurking directly ahead.  Their standard armor stood out against the beauty of the Theed street, especially when three brightly colored beams of energy sliced through the armor.  The armor clattered to the ground, echoing through the empty street.  Glancing quickly around, the middle-sized figure urged the group on.

As they crept closer to the hangar that was their entrance to the palace, the Jedi were surprised that no one else threatened them.  Sneaking quietly into the nearly empty hangar, they breathed a collective sigh of relief—

—until the shortest one pushed the other two down and rolled to her right, narrowly avoiding the blaster shots that hit the floor where they had been standing moments before.  All three Jedi got back on their feet almost immediately, bringing their lightsabres out with one swift movement.

The blaster fire stopped as quickly as it started.  The source appeared to have come from three short, maroon-cloaked humans.  They lowered their blasters as one questioned, “Jedi Kenobi?”

Both of the taller Jedi relaxed their stances and lowered their sabres somewhat.  “Handmaiden Sabé?” the shorter of the two replied cautiously.

The maroon-cloaked human who had spoken nodded once as she quickly lowered her hood, revealing delicate features framed with dark brown hair.  “Welcome back to Naboo, Jedi Kenobi.”  Her brown eyes shifted to the tall Jedi.  “An-anakin?”

The tall Jedi shut down his lightsabre as he grinned.  “Hello again, Sabé.”

“You’ve certainly grown up,” she told him as she gave him a quick hug.  “You both certainly remember Saché?”  She indicated one of the maroon-cloaked handmaidens.  “And this is Dormé,” she finished, indicating the other one.

Obi-Wan shut down his lightsabre as well, ready to introduce the third member of their party—but she beat him to it.

“I’m Jedi Knight Marina Qwin,” she said, bowing politely.  “We’re here to help the Queen and the Senator.”

“Indeed,” Sabé said, obviously impressed by her earlier dodging abilities.  “Please, follow us to the throne room,” she added as she pulled her hood back over her face.

“After you,” Obi-Wan told Marina as she glared and took the lead after the three handmaidens.  After a minute, the hangar no longer echoed with the sound of the boots as they headed off.
