The 19^th annual CHCM 10km Timex Road Race was held under very windy conditions in Garnish on the Burin Peninsula. The race which is sponsored by Radio station CHCM and hosted by the Mariners Athletics Club saw 43 runners starting the race with 42 finishing the course. Brian Norman of the Naultious Running Club of St. John's took the early lead and never looked back as he won his first victory in a time of 37:21 on the course that starts in Garnish and runs through Frenchman's Cove and then returns back to Garnish. Lionel Foote of the Mariners Athletics Club captured second place in a time of 38:07 and Christian Diamon of FDI of St.Pierre placed third in a time of 39.01 .
 

Marie Decker of the St. John's Athletics Club won the women's overall race in a time of 42 minutes and 18 seconds. Josette Urdanabia of the St. Pierre finished in second place in a time of 49:33 and Marie Jugan of St. Pierre finished in third place in a time of 51:17.
 

In the team championship FDI of St. Pierre won the team championship with a total of 18 penalty points.
