REGIONS OF PUNE

Bhuleshwar Range

Bhor Area

Wai Area

This region is steeped in the history of the Marathas, the Moguls and the British. Many forts show the scars of battles fought long ago. It has lots of thick forests. Morning buses from PUNE railway station or SWARGATE to WELHE, BHOR and WAI are some of the major starting points for treks in this area.

THE BHULESHWAR RANGE

Many important forts of the Maratha kingdom lie in this area. RAJGAD, the first capital of Shivaji, RAIGAD where the two coronations of Shivaji were held and PURANDAR fort where Shivaji was defeated. RAIGAD and the area around it falls in the Konkan while the other forts are on the Western Ghats.

Buses are available from PUNE railway station to different parts of this area.

THE BHOR AREA

Bhor is connected to PUNE and BOMBAY by regular buses. It is advisable to reach BHOR by early morning to get further connecting buses.

THE WAI AREA

WAI is situated on the  PUNE-MAHABALESHWAR road and is connected by many buses, which usually operate in the morning. There are excellent temples of Ganpati here.
