See a live picture of Quito!!
I lived in Quito, Ecuador during the 1999-2000 school year, studying Spanish and development issues in Latin America at Fundacion Cimas del Ecuador through the State of Washington Cooperative Development Studies Program. I also had a wonderful internship during the spring with El Centro de la Nina Trabajadora or Center for Working Female Children in Quito, Ecuador. I lived with an amazing host family who still live in Quito and my boyfriend, Juan lives in Salinas in the Guayas Province on the coast (close to La Libertad on the map above).
In September 2001, I went to Lima, Peru with my friend, Alli and we met Juan and Paul from Salinas there. We traveled along the Peruvian coast before heading up to Salinas, Ecuador. I then started teaching English as a second language at the Superior Naval School-ESSUNA until June 2002. I went back to Salinas to teach again in February 2003 and worked there most of 2003. One of our favorite pastimes in Salinas is beach volleyball and you can check out another site I've designed for the best beach volleyball team in Salinas, Salinas Team.
